Posted by: Patrick Mueirech on Year 19 Day 304

Thyferra (Social) - Arrests were made after Rebel sympathizers bombed a local market today, casualties consisted of several unarmed Imperial Peacekeeping Officers, and twenty-three civilians, including children. The New Republic praised the terrorists calling them heroes and calling for other supporters to conduct similar attacks. In response, the Imperial Security Bureau’s regional leaders met with local Governors to discuss heightened security and anti-terror measures.

The Republic's actions are in response to continued Imperial victories on the battlefields around the galaxy and have taken to unconventional warfare as a way to dissuade public support for the Empire on its own worlds. As these tactics continue to take form Imperial Intelligence and other government branches have added additional layers to training and awareness to help mitigate risk to personnel and physical assets. Deputy Governor Lydia Traedo offered a statement after the meeting “This unprovoked and cowardly attack continues to depict the obscene and evil core of the Republic. Their desire to spread terror through the Empire will continue to claim lives until they are exterminated, or else they will continue to threaten the values of the New Order and degrade our great society. While we can offer no words of solace to lessen the pains that the families who suffered these losses endure, citizens around the Empire can rest assured our resolve to prevent further attacks is greater than ever.”

With increasing demands for tighter security both Military and Intelligence, assets have begun to ramp up operations to meet heightened readiness expectations. Citizens around the Empire can expect to see more patrols and enhanced security across all Ports and public transportation areas as the Imperial Port Authority received a large increase in funding for passenger screening devices. Among device improvements, the Port Authority is expected to replace outdated equipment and receive the newest model of Tie Fighters to assist in traffic control of airspace.
