Surizal Jakohr is by all appearances a galactic standard Corellian male. He has fair skin and short blonde hair, and carries himself with a confidence born of surviving the streets of Corellia. He is currently a Commodore in the Imperial Navy, a Training Officer for the Imperial Academy on Prakith, and a Holonet Quality Control Officer for COMPNOR.

Character History

Early Life

Surizal Jakohr grew up mostly on the streets of Corellia. While his parents weren't, by definition, poor, they were also not quite wealthy enough to send Surizal off for any private education. Instead, Surizal attended public school, where he excelled enough in his studies to attend University, but had insufficient funds to do so. In an effort to pay for his tuition, he took a job at the Corellian Shipyards, working on assembling capital ships. Unfortunately, he was still unable to earn enough to finish his first year of University, and was forced to drop out. Shortly thereafter, motivated by his work in the shipyards and a desire to go off-world, Surizal submitted his recruitment packet to the Galactic Empire.

Family Life

Surizal's father, Taemush Jakohr, served "in the military" before settling down on Corellia with his wife Cyres "when the war was done", and raised Surizal in a strict but not overbearing manner. Neither of his parents spoke much about their lives before Surizal was born, nor what they did during the previous galactic conflict. Taemush was working as a security officer, and Cyres as a nurse in a medical facility, until the Rebel terrorist attacks on the Corellian Shipyards caused debris to fall on their new hab complex, tragically ending their lives.

Career

Corellian Engineering Corporation

Surizal began work at the Corellian Engineering Corporation on Year 18 Day 115, in an effort to secure tuition funds for University. Unfortunately, menial labor is not enough to pay for college, so those dreams were put on hold. Surizal enjoyed working with his hands though, and had a knack for memorizing the layouts of the various vessels that he worked on assembling. One of his promotions within the Shipyards procured him some flight training, and saw him piloting assembly craft in orbit over Corellia. This is where his love of the stars was borne, and Surizal made plans then and there to one day pilot his own ship.

Contact with the Galactic Empire

After performing emergency repairs on an Imperial vessel that entered Corellian Space, Surizal managed to impress one of the officers enough to earn a letter of recommendation, which Surizal promptly took to the local Imperial Recruitment depot, and secured himself a commission into the Imperial Academy. After tying up his few affairs on Corellia, Surizal boarded his slightly-less-than-new YT-510, and left Corellia for the Academy.

Imperial Academy on Prakith

Surizal joined the Empire on Year 23 Day 214, studied at the Imperial Academy under Senior Training Officer Thokul Tovcor, and graduated with honors on Y23 D222.

Imperial Navy

The day following his graduation from the Imperial Academy, Surizal was commissioned into the Imperial Navy as an Ensign and assigned to 2nd Fleet.

Operation: Silent Night

After reporting to the 2nd Imperial Fleet under Rear Admiral Shonblam Dacar, ENS Jakohr's first port of duty was to retrieve a Carrack class ship and take it to 2nd Fleet's hub of operations. Once there, Surizal was tasked with WarSim practice, to familiarize himself with the different ships and their capabilities at the Fleet's disposal. Shortly after that though, a request for volunteers came down from the new Ruby Task Force Commander. Admiral Cataldo Blackstar was looking for Officers of all ranks to take part in his debut operation, Operation: Silent Night. Leaping at the chance, Ensign Jakohr was one of the first officers in his Fleet to volunteer. Boarding a TIE/sr, Surizal received his orders en route to a pre-designated location. The group he was assigned to was tasked with performing a rather large number of deep space scans in 3 different Sectors of Imperial Space. About halfway through the first sector though, Surizal noticed that the way each sector's subsystems was laid out in the FRAGO wasn't a particularly efficient route. At the encouragement of his Commanding Officer, Ensign Jakohr took it upon himself to chart out a much more efficient scanning route, and disseminated the new route to his fellow officers. Using this new route, Ensign Jakohr was able to singlehandedly scan over half of the total number of systems in the 3 weeks of Operation: Silent Night, and for this activity, he was nominated by his Commanding Officer as 2nd Fleet's Navy Officer of the Month, at his first Navy Monthly Meeting. Immediately following the meeting, Ensign Jakohr was awarded his first Letter of Commendation, and an Imperial Activity Medal, for these actions.

REDACTED Infrastructure Project

Following a shortage of Regional Government and Ministry of Industry personnel, Admiral Blackstar was approached by Grand Moff Takla and asked for a volunteer to assist with building some mines in a developing Imperial system. Knowing that Ensign Jakohr had both the initiative and the requisite skill sets to properly assist the Grand Moff, Surizal was instructed to request a shuttle from his command, and report to the Grand Moff. What followed was a brief stint with a nationalized entity (the Imperial Mining Corporation) and a grueling month of intersystem and planetary travel, retrieving and assigning worker personnel, requesting building privileges, calculating and allocating construction materiel, and finally beginning the construction on nearly 2 dozen mining facilities. About halfway through this project (and numerous cups of Spiran Caf at his new favorite cantina), Surizal was granted a break in the project, and told to report back to his Fleet's hub of operations. Once there, Ensign Jakohr was informed that both his transfer to INSC and his application to the new Carrier Team as the Aerospace Group Commander were approved. Following this announcement though, Ensign Jakohr was awarded his second Letter of Commendation, from Grand Moff Takla, for his hard work with RGOV.

Operation: Ruby Gale

What should have been a routine show of force started off, quite literally, with a bang. Terrorists attacked the CEC Shipyards where Surizal once worked, killing many of his old friends and coworkers, but the fallout wasn't limited to space and near-orbit. Debris rained down on Corellia herself, drawn in by her own gravitational pull. Cities across the planet suffered damage, and civilians were crushed. Surizal's parents, who had just days before celebrated Taemush's promotion to Technician Grade IV, had just moved into their new hab complex, before it was ground into dust by a crashing capital ship. Authorized by ADM Blackstar, ENS Jakohr began to wear a black armband, along with many other servicemembers of the Galactic Empire, on his left bicep, in remembrance of his lost family.

Operation: Ruby Zephyr

Following the terrorist attacks on Corellia, the entire Ruby Task Force was recalled from their operations abroad, to come to their seat of operation's aid. Reports indicated that numerous other space stations in the system had also been targeted, and so began a wide spread rush to locate and disable as many of the compromised stations as possible. Newly promoted LTJG Jakohr joined fellow LTJG Soren Westfield, and together they found themselves in a stand off with a cell leader and a selection of hostages, including an extremely valuable ISB Agent. While the accompanying Stormtroopers worked to disable the nearby explosive, the pair of Lieutenants entered into false negotiations with the terrorists, all the while trying to covertly work out a plan to subdue the hostiles and rescue the hostages. Surizal eventually had the idea to use the sealed medbay's gas filtration system to alter the mixture of breathable air inside to a level of non-lethal incapacitation. As soon as everybody in the room collapsed, unconscious, to the deck, Surizal and Soren stormed the room, dispatching all but one of the terrorists, and successfully rescued, with zero losses, every hostage. For his actions, LTJG Jakohr was awarded an Exercise Achievement Medal, and LTJG Westfield, injured in the line of duty, found himself the recipient of his first Letter of Commendation.

Corellian Bloodstripe, 2nd Class

"To the Imperial military members who were present as members of Joint Task Force Ruby, the Government of Corellia, in consultation with planetary military authorities, wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks for your dedication and acts of bravery in bringing to justice those who killed our citizens. Without your actions, those responsible would still be among the stars looking to harm those who desire peace, stability, and prosperity. Therefore let it be resolved: WHEREAS certain terrorist elements conducted an unprovoked attack on the civilian population of Corellia; WHEREAS members of the Galactic Empire’s Joint Task Force Ruby immediately thrust themselves into danger on behalf of Corellia and Her people, with no regard for their own personal safety; BE IT RESOLVED, that the GOVERNMENT OF CORELLIA does hereby award the JOINT TASK FORCE RUBY the award of the CORELLIAN BLOODSTRIPE, 2ND CLASS for their BRAVERY IN COMBAT. While we understand that Imperial Military Regulations prohibit the display of this award on your uniforms or in your official records, we hope you will accept this honorary gesture of goodwill and thanks from a grateful people. Our hearts are with you and you have our eternal gratitude."

With these words came a feeling of fulfillment that Surizal had never thought possible. Bloodstripes were fairly rare, even on Corellia. For the entire Task Force to be awarded them... that was no small thing. Especially considering just how many Imperials there were, even in the Task Force, that weren't from Corellia. But this was Ruby's home, and we had come to protect her in her hour of desperate need. Later that evening, Surizal spent some time reviewing the history of the Bloodstripe.

"It was awarded most typically for courage demonstrated after deliberation; it was said that Corellians believed that anyone can be brave in the heat of the moment, but true heroism came when one knew that doing the right thing would hurt but did it anyway. Though they could be awarded for many reasons, the majority of the prestigious awards were awarded for courage under fire.

In everyday dress, the stripe was a bit of colored piping worn down the side of the trousers. There were two classes of Bloodstripes. The second class was represented by yellow piping; the first class was represented by red piping, and were almost always awarded posthumously. Though not formally recognized by the Empire, the Imperial Navy allowed its servicemen recipients to don the award on their uniforms.

Some sources say that a Corellian was entitled to kill—without repercussion—any other Corellian or non-Corellian caught wearing them that hadn't earned them."

Ruby Trophy Hunt/Transfer to Amber Task Force

Over the winter holidays, members of the Ruby region gathered on an isolated planet to partake in a trophy hunting expedition. During these recreational activities, all participants were placed in command of 3 squads of outfitted Stormtroopers, and the use of a Sentinel Landing craft, with which to patrol a trio of grid squares, and the license to hunt down and eliminate any enemies found within, with a desirable focus on hostile bioligics. Prizes were awarded for number of kills, number of trophies, and quality of reports, based on each individual's actions on the surface.

Being quite unfamiliar with ground operations (by virtue of being a Navy officer) Surizal only managed to acquire a few trophies, certainly not nearly enough to secure any major awards. Summarily, his reports were rather lackluster by comparison to his fellow competitors. Towards the end of the hunt, new orders came in from MCOMD. He was being transferred to Amber, and along with it, being reposted to a CAPCOM position. His dreams of being a Carrier Commander were coming closer, it was now only a matter of time.

Shortly after arriving at his new duty station, LTJG Jakohr received word that he was in fact due to receive a share of the rewards from the Trophy Hunt, and that delivery of his winnings would be arranged at a future date. But for now, he was being thrown in the hot seat of a small frigate, and sent into the thick of things to catch up with the rest of the Task Force on their current Operation.

Operation: Amber Anvil

Immediately upon arrival to the Amber Region and reporting in to his new Fleet Commanding Officer, Commodore Garret Vin-Reth, LTJG Jakohr was assigned to a gunship and put into a screening position for a Carrier Team. After reporting in to his new team in the staging area, they were off to clear local asteroid fields of a bandit presence that had been allowed to fester and grow to the point that they had developed their own micro-faction inside Imperial space. And that could not be allowed to continue.

Under the watchful eyes of Captain Eromu Shiroi and Lieutenant Commander Coastas Agrios, LTJG Jakohr was able to put up a very respectable number of enemy kills, engaging in as many sorties in his first week with the Fleet (and last week of the Operation) as many other officers had managed during the entirety of said Operation. In recognition of these actions, along with his impeccable service record thus far, LTJG Jakohr was summarily promoted to full Lieutenant at the Military Monthly Meeting, following the conclusion of the active Operation.

The Imperial Navy is not known for sitting on their laurels for long though, and almost immediately after learning of their success in rousting the enemy pirates from their asteroid fields, it was learned that what few survivors of this purge remained, had fled to various habitable planets nearby, and thus would the Navy be taking their fight to the ground. LT Jakohr would now need to lean on his experience leading Stormtroopers in ground combat, gained during the previous month's recreational activities with his last Task Force, to search out and eliminate the remnants of the pirate faction.

Operation: Amber Safari

Commander.jpg
LT Surizal Jakohr, "Snowtrooper Captain"

Following on the tail of Amber Anvil, Jakohr's new Carrier Team was deployed to the [REDACTED] system nearby, to continue the hunt for wayward pirates. [REDACTED]'s assigned planet was a glorified iceball with a toxic atmosphere, but the Empire provides her soldiers with the best equipment, for all climates. Donning Snowtrooper armor, LT Jakohr was given command of a Theta-class AT-AT Barge and a company of Stormtroopers, and set off for the planet surface. In true Amber fashion, all officers involved were placed in a rotation, to keep everyone as fresh as possible, and working in command pairs on the ground to expedite the sector clearing operations, and provide backup to each other if needed. Unfortunately, it was deemed necessary, as about halfway into the first rotation, LT Jakohr took a shot from a Mon Calamari sniper straight to the chest. Enough of the damage was prevented by the exceptional armor he was wearing, but there was still enough to lay him out on the ground and send him to a Kettrifee medbay to recover. Jakohr refused to be removed from the rotation though, and finished out the first sector with renewed vigor, as soon as he was cleared to return to duty.

Operation: Lightning Strike

Shortly after returning to duty, the code word to return to orbit was broadcast across all channels. In the Task Force's desire to pursue their opponents to all ends, critical gaps in the region's defense were exposed. All units of the Task Force were summarily redeployed in their Carrier Team formats, and a region-wide sweep of all systems under Amber's defense was conducted. Over the course of the next 2 weeks, all military officers, both Army and Navy, were assigned a TIE/sr and a squadron of Alpha-class Xg-1's, and participated in coordinated micro-jumps into the cardinal points of every system assigned to them. In what could be seen as a break from military tradition, operational command of each Carrier Team was actually rotated to other, often times more junior, officers. This was done in an attempt to discover and develop leadership tactics and acumen, for use in future command assessments. It is with no small amount of pride that LT Jakohr was chosen to lead his Carrier Team during this Operation, and also that his team was able to finish scanning their assigned systems first amongst the other 2 teams, and were then able to assist in scanning the final systems for one of other teams. Upon completion of this latest phase of the overall mission, word came down from their TFCO, General Isolder von Alard, for all units to return to their original staging grounds and to await further, classified, orders.

Operation: Lightning Strike - Phase 2

During Phase 2 of the Operation, LT Jakohr once again led his Carrier Team, this time into ground combat, in a coordinated and carefully crafted clearance of select slabs on the planet REDACTED. This was done in order to literally pave the way for RGOV Officers to follow behind the Carrier Team, and develop the planet into a new defensive station in the system. Mines, weapons batteries, shield generators, hab complexes... the planet was now a shining beacon of Imperial military/industrial might, for all to see (if they have the proper clearance). Concurrent with the finale of Phase 2, Amber Command and MCOMD recognized LT Jakohr's leadership efforts by nominating him for Fleet and Navy Officer of the Month. His name joins others in consideration of the prestigious Imperial of the Month.

The Widowmaker

Victory_II.jpg
Victory-class Star Destroyer, "The Widowmaker"

"The 7th Group is the Reconnaissance unit within the (Decommissioned) 6th Imperial Fleet and its mandate was to provide ahead information on enemy action and patrol the Corporate Oversector to maintain imperial supremacy and protect all Imperials that roamed this corner of the galaxy. It was known as “The Widowmakers”, named after their long-serving flagship, the VSD Widowmaker."

The vessel to which 7th Group owed it's name had been commanded by some of the most respected Officers the Imperial Navy has ever seen, including but not limited to: Admiral Cataldo Blackstar, Grand Moff Thea Corine, High Colonel Joshua Chamberlain, and Senior Captain Markus Saretti. This same ship was the one newly promoted Lieutenant Commander Jakohr had performed emergency retrofit actions on what seemed like a lifetime ago, when his chance fateful encounter with Admiral Blackstar first occurred. And now, it was to be Jakohr's first Star Destroyer command. If only his parents were still alive, to see how far their only son had come, fulfilling his dreams of one day commanding the representation of Imperial presence in the galaxy.

Operation: Unknown Depths

What started out as a routine Asteroid Field clearing mission, commonplace for the Officers of Amber Taskforce, quickly grew in complexity. Local space pirates were reported to have laid their appendages on some more powerful vessels. The slightly infrequent R-41s and Z-95s, while certainly more formidable than the usual Uglies generally favored by these groups, were nothing in comparison to the new Crusader-class Corvette that had been brought to bear. Commander Irrilyn Mai's team was the first to lay eyes on the 'vette, while other teams were preoccupied with their own hostiles in nearby fields. Utilizing their superior training and equipment though, her team was able to wear through it's shields, and eventually incapacitate the ship with their ionic weaponry. Because, take the ship out, that wasn't the mission. MCOMD wanted to capture it. Thus began almost a week of continuous operations by everyone in the Taskforce, to keep the enemy Corvette disabled, slice through the codelocks, and finally breach the bridge. Stormtroopers with shotguns and riot shields entered battle with the enemy crew, and while injuries were sustained, there were no friendly casualties. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the Military and Regional Government combined, the Taskforce was not able to capture the vessel in the end. The enemy crew had managed to sabotage the computer systems, and even the Region's best slicers weren't able to penetrate the firmware. And so, after collecting as much intel as possible, the Crusader was scuttled and the Taskforce returned home.

Communications & Training Officer

The latest addition to the modernized Imperial Military, CTOs are charged with ensuring all TF mediums of communication are effective and updated, seeing to the training of all officers on all training methods as set by MCOMD, and acting as the TF's primary signals, training, and morale officer. The CTO will work closely and regularly with their TFCO and TFXO, as well as working closely with MCOMD. The CTO will also perform additional duties as required by the TFCO or MCOMD. The newly-minted Communications and Training Officer position is one that has combined both the older positions of Legion/Fleet Signals Officer and Legion/Fleet Training Officer positions into a singular position that will greatly help improve many aspects of a Task Force. Some of these aspects and new duties will include training new officers, providing refresher courses to veteran officers, continuation of current signals duties, and even helping to survey Task Force operations in the field to see what can or should be improved. As such, and considering they were already doing more than half of the job already, MCOMD has seen fit to elevate the former RSOs to this new position. Premier holders of this position are newly promoted Commodores Viv Curtana and Surizal Jakohr, and Brigadier General Joshua Chamberlain.

COMPNOR

In addition to their regular Imperial Military duties, it is highly encouraged for Officers to seek part-time employment with other branches, notably COMPNOR. To this end, Surizal has taken on positions with the Imperial Academy and with IHS.

dGfuwmS.png
Office of TO Jakohr, Imperial Academy, Prakith

Training Officer

On or abouts the 348th day of year 23, LTJG Jakohr's application to be a part-time instructor at the Imperial Academy was accepted. He spent a small amount of time establishing his office there, but when his duties as an Imperial Navy Officer kept him away from Prakith, a protocol droid assisted with getting his new recruits squared away until he could initiate direct comms.

As of Y24 D152, LTCMDR Jakohr has been elevated from JTO to full Training Officer at the Imperial Academy, following 6 months of continuous hard work.

Holonet Quality Control Officer

Nearly concurrent with his promotion to LTCMDR, Jakohr accepted another part-time position as a Senior Aide within COMPNOR, specifically the Imperial Holonet Service, as a Quality Control Officer. His role specifically, was to assist with improvements made to the Imperial Academy's training program, since many facets of the syllabus were beginning to show their age.

Personal Life

While on leave from the Navy, rare as it is, Surizal Jakohr can usually be found near Prakith or Corellia, either catching up on Academy work or organizing his own growing flotilla. On very rare occasions that he's planetside, he can usually be found in a nearby cantina enjoying a nice cup of Spiran caf. On such occasions, he prefers to dress in somber tones, black pants with yellow 2nd Class Bloodstripes, high black dewback hide leather boots, a navy blue shirt, and a brown dewback hide leather jacket, with a black mourning band stitched onto the left bicep.

swm25_preview_7.jpg

Personal Assets

While on duty, Surizal has found a useful outlet for his credits, in assembling his own personal flotilla. To date, he has acquired a number of different starfighters and light freighters, a few gunboats, and various other larger ships. His personal favorite is the Arquitens-class Light Cruiser, named the Hero of Canton, but his new flagship is a Corona-class Frigate, named Bushwhacked.

Boloball

At the encouragement of one of his former recruits from the Academy, Surizal has diverted some of his funds towards the creation and management, and subsequent enrollment, of his own Boloball team, to compete with in the Union Boloball League. The Ziostan D'oemir Bears are a young organization, but they have some solid talent out on the pitch, and managed to tie up a scrim with the BC Union Anaxes, ran by SSUPT Arthur Smith. The league kicks off soon, and everyone is curious to see how the Bears do in their inaugural season, going up against the likes of the Vandor Vanguard, Herglic Warlords, Coruscant FC, Hynestian Hoplites, and aforementioned Union Anaxes.

Early in Jakohr's career, he served the Imperial Navy as an INSC officer before transferring to CAPCOM. While these new rank titles were not in effect during his service in such a capacity, they have been updated retroactively here, to denote his split service. During this time, then-LTJG Jakohr also earned the callsign "D'oemir", after the ferocious D'oemir bears, present on numerous frozen planets. This callsign was not a reflection of Jakohr's combat prowess though, but a constant reminder of his near death to an Alpha of the species.
