High Colonel Amne Zailyn is an officer of Army Command. Early in her military career, Zailyn distinguished herself as the commanding officer of the 5th Brigade. Highly decorated after her meritorious service on Derra IV, she was appointed to serve as the Army Signals Officer.

Biography

Amne Zailyn was born in Year -12 to Lydia Zailyn and Arnaud Ruellan, conservative nobles of the Hapes Consortium. Zailyn often traveled with her parents as part of the royal court and when visiting relatives in other sectors, notably the Imperial sectors of Kuat, Corellia and Tapani. At the age of sixteen, Zailyn married Guillaume Ruellan, a Tapani noble and her father's nephew,[1] and gave birth to their son Étienne nearly two years later. Zailyn was widowed in Year 9 after five years of marriage; she was sent back to her mother's estate in the Hapes Cluster without her son, who remained in Tapani as his grandparents' heir.

"This is the Spirit of The Immortals - that no matter what Catastrophies strike us, we will stubbornly rise from the ashes and flap our wings, unleashing our fearless spirit against the enemies of the Empire with the power of the Phoenix!"
Dragomir Kies[2]

After her proper mourning period, Zailyn returned to Imperial space, this time to enlist in the Imperial Army. Upon her completion of basic training at the Imperial Academy, Zailyn was promoted to Master Sergeant and assigned to serve in the 1st Imperial Legion under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Califf D`Troit. Among her fellow legionnaires were Elvira Falston, Dragomir Kies, Santiano Salazar, Felix Stones, Dante Erinith, Kol Seraph, Tamarynn Farr, Igneus Esh, and Redme Schwarz. Zailyn was assigned to the Sabres and sent to scout for any signs of rebel bases or hostile armies. The Sabres found and captured a number of hostiles that had established hidden bases throughout the system and retook some occupied Imperial buildings. The Immortals took it upon themselves to map their assigned sectors, marking potential microjump points and updating the political maps of the planets. They were commended with special recognition upon the conclusion of Operation Blitz, after the inspection of 4 systems with 30 planets in total.

"Amne Zailyn — the capable and ambitious commander of the 5th Brigade, whose lasting contributions to that unit and to the Legion cannot be tidily summarized."
— Brigadier General David Terrio[3]

Zailyn commanded the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion of the 1st Brigade until she was appointed executive officer of the 5th Brigade. She later commented that she found it fitting that the two units were steeped in fiery symbolism: the Immortals' perpetually rekindling phoenix and the pure conflagration of the Inferno. She traveled to her new brigade's headquarters in the Corporate Sector and began to work closely with 1st Lieutenant Deryk Ysenm as his executive officer. Zailyn was soon awarded an MID, a testament to her seamless integration into the reconnaissance brigade, and found herself so impressed by the leadership displayed by the officers of the 2nd Legion—namely, Brigadier General David Terrio, Major Agramon Kane, and Captain Ysenm—that she came to consider a life-long career in the Army.

When Captain Ysenm retired from military service, 2nd Lieutenant Zailyn succeeded him as the commanding officer of the 5th Brigade and resolved to follow his example to the best of her ability. During the 2nd Legion's deployment for Operation Sovereign Canopy, Zailyn was invested with the authority to command and direct all active Imperial forces on Derra IV in the absence of Lieutenant Colonel Kane. Their joint deployments with the 1st and 3rd Legions allowed her to work with commanders such as Colonel Edward Canfield, Lieutenant Colonel Santiano Salazar, Major Akai Ai, Captain Tyrren Montari, Captain Lane Rendell, Captain Navarro de Molay, 1st Lieutenant Cora Ersin, 1st Lieutenant Redme Schwarz and Command Sergeant Benedict Tharandon. She was awarded a letter of commendation for her efforts, and she was promoted to Major in recognition of her time served and the exemplary nature of that service, both as commander of the 5th Brigade and of the joint forces on Derra IV.[4]
