Early Life

Growing Up

Yaln Baluu is a Human male born (in Year -9, Day 154) and raised in the port city of Mos Espa, Tatooine. He grew up immersed in the not so pleasant environment that the area presented to its inhabitants. Activities of questionable morality were visible to whoever paid a minimum of attention. His father and mother, Duvhar Baluu and Anirei Baluu, respectively, kept the family afloat by performing delivery duties for one of the few honest commercial organizations located in the city. It didn't pay very well, but it was enough, and it allowed them to stay as far away from the more disturbing activities as it was possible. Regardless, their efforts weren't enough to keep Yaln from noticing what happened around him, as it was to be expected. As he grew up and gained a deeper understanding of what life was like around him, he naturally started to resent the conditions that he had to witness.

As their only child and with no other known and alive family members, Yaln was brought along with his parents in their travels to distant worlds. He later on started to not only come along, but actually pilot the ships himself, as he came of age to help out actively, and eventually started working on his own. He got to visit Imperial controlled planets, and he was astonished by the differences he noticed, comparing them to his homeworld. He witnessed the order and prosperity present in them, and made it his goal to be a part of it.

Motivations And Plans

One of his deliveries to the planet of Corellia involved a few miscommunications with a customer, meaning that he was to remain stationed there for a while. During his stay he decided it was a good chance to do some research regarding his potential enlisting to the Imperial Military. He wanted to be part of the future of the Galactic Empire, and his developed skill as a pilot was his best chance at being useful, or so he thought at the time. His parents encouraged him, making sure to let him know that they would be fine without his help. Yaln decided then to go through with his plan, not before promising that he would try his best to relocate his family to an Imperial controlled world soon, maybe after he had made some useful contacts as a servant of the Empire.

Imperial Academy

A New Recruit Has Arrived

At the age of 26, Yaln Baluu enlisted in the Imperial Military. Upon acceptance, he began preparations, looking to attend the Imperial Academy on Prakith. He was given the rank of Recruit in Year 18, Day 71, and was under the tutelage of Lieutenant Faraday Euler, a Navy officer who was also working at the Academy as a Training Officer. This aligned perfectly with Yaln's plans to become a respected pilot for the Imperial Navy, he thought. Who better to teach him than an experienced officer in the field? But as he went through his training, Yaln discovered something he couldn't have imagined before. After his experience commanding a couple of Stormtroopers that were put under his supervision, he changed his mind entirely. He found himself comfortable leading them, and for the first time he considered that his future could actually be as an infantry commander.

This was a very valuable lesson for him. He understood that in the future it could happen again. But as long as he was serving the Empire, it shouldn't matter in what capacity. In year 18, Day 78, he graduated with honours and was assigned to the Imperial Army, with the rank of Second Lieutenant.

The Student Becomes The Teacher

Months after graduating and becoming a member of the Imperial Army, Dean Elaine von Veritrax recognized him as a suitable candidate to teach at the Imperial Academy, and extended to him an official offer to do so. In Year 18, Day 222, Yaln Baluu, at the time holding the rank of First Lieutenant, became a Training Officer, in addition to his duties as an Army officer.

Upon joining the Imperial Army as a junior officer, Yaln Baluu was met with demanding tasks that required him to push himself to his limits, but he adapted quickly and has since then been an effective soldier, always ready for any obstacle present between him and his goal.

Since his assignment to the Army, he has responsibly fulfilled his duties, and has raised through the ranks at a respectable pace, currently holding the rank of Captain. He was recognized by Legion command for his efforts during Operation ████████, and later on he earned a special mention by his Commanding Officer for his outstanding performance during Operation ████████, which was declared a sounding success as the result of his dedication, and that of his comrades.

In Year 18, Day 293, and in light of his outstanding service record, he was appointed as the 2nd Brigade Executive Officer.

Yaln Baluu is an upbeat individual, always looking for opportunities to try and be funny, succeding most of the time, although not always recognized by his peers. But when it comes to work, he knows how to not let that get in the way of effectiveness. Over the years, he has adquired the ability to mix these two things together, without negatively affecting their quality. He is very sociable, always looking to meet new people and very prone to join ongoing conversations, without overstepping the bounds of acceptability.

Contrary to what this description may make it sound like, he is ambitious and takes his responsabilities with the proper amount of dedication and seriousness, even aspiring to go beyond what's asked of him.
