Serial number TB Five-Oh-Seven, trooper of the Imperial Army. A hard worked, loyal, and well disciplined Scout Trooper that stands proudly within the ranks of both the Empire, and the Imperial Army itself. Spears works with dedication, but even through his hard work, there is a soft spot and a kind side to him. He’s always seen smiling. A bright, flashy smile can constantly be seen on his face. Even in the most dire situations, or the worst case scenarios, Spears finds how to make a wise crack or a smart ass comment in an attempt to boost morale. He’s usually seen in a good mood, always treating those around him with respect… as much respect as he can give to those in the Navy anyways.

“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.” ~ Unknown Source

Unknown Beginnings & Pre-enlistment

Spears awoke, his vision blurry. The warmth of the sun that leaked in through the window poured onto him, heating his skin. His eyes fully opened, and he rubbed the trying to clear them of the blur but to no success.

“Don’t move to much,” A voice said suddenly, startling him, “You may reopen the wounds or injure yourself further,”

Spears did as obeyed and settled. His body suddenly ached, and pain had lanced all over him. He slowly moved his hand to his side and ran it over his chest. He was shirtless, and was only dressed in boxer shorts. He moved his hand up to his neck and felt a scar embedded there.

Whoever it was in the room with him noticed his actions, “You’re lucky. We barely found you alive, from what I heard, you only had a sixteen percent chance of living,”

Spears voice cracked, his mouth dry from not speaking in a while and from the wound that was inflicted onto his throat, “Who are you and where am I..?”

There was a shuffle of feet before a shadow loomed over him, “Your questions will be answered shortly Mr. Spears,” There was a prickle of pain as something went into his arm, “Here, once you take this you’ll feel better. Remain still though, this should only give you some energy and clear whatever side effectives you may have,”

Spears blinked slowly in shock, Mr. Spears?, he thought in wonder, Who is he talking about? He must have the wrong guy. Suddenly, his eyes cleared and he no longer felt drowsy. From his position, he could see a man hovering over him in medical gear, and a droid nearby holding a tray with an assortment of tools and medicines or drugs. He laid on a well cushioned bed of some sort, stripped down to his under garments where the light from the sun had seeped in through a nearby window. Spears blinked some more, trying to figure out what was going on.

The man over him smiled before moving to the window and looking out, “It was a miracle we saved you. You came so close to dieing. Multiple times actually. All the flat-lining, the struggling, the tension among us,” He shook his head, “Almost tore us apart. But, you did come out on top.”

“Who are you?” Spears repeated.

“Ah, please excuse my manners. I’m Doctor Atkins. Who I work for however, is not of your business or who my colleagues are.”

Spears rotated his head to face Atkins, “What have you done to me then?”

“Well saved you of course. You’re my greatest work so far. You had almost been killed, executed is our best guess, but somehow survived. We really don’t know why…” Atkins turned from the window to face Spears again, his hands folded behind his back, “You’re still a work in progress however. So please rest up.”

Spears slowly touched his face, his fingers moved from his neck to his nose, ears, eyes, and finally combing through his hair. Spears stuttered, “Who am I then?”

“You’re new identity is Nixon Spears. We’re terribly sorry though, we lost some of your memory during the operations and surgeries. However, you should find most is intact.”

“Nixon Spears doesn’t sound right. Who was I before that? What was my name?” Spears pleaded urgently.

The doctor sighed, “Don’t worry, as said, all your questions will be answered. You’ll find out soon enough,”

Spears frowned before looking back up at the ceiling, trying to solve the puzzle that was once his memory. He remembered the Empire, the Imperial Army, and close friends. There were laughs, sadness, anger, and sorrow. He remembered the pains of something hot, as hot as a star. He remembered a place just like this to, barely making it alive. He had returned to the Imperial Army, sorrow was dismissed to gladness, his friends or whoever they were, were happy. There was a woman, a girl. Beautiful, kind, and care-free. She was close to him. His mind went to another person. A man, this time he remembered the name, Jason Con. Before moving to Czar, then Lexu. Suddenly his memory was coming back.

The doctor face looked quizzical, “You must be trying to resurface your memories. Your heart rate picked up for a second there,” He said, gesturing to the monitor.

Spears glanced over, and sure enough, he was hooked up to a heart rate monitor. Spears looked away again, “I want out,”

“I’m afraid we can’t do that. You need to rest,”

Spears felt a flurry of anger shoot through him, “Who’s this we? Who are you people? Where in the blue blazes am I? I don’t even know who I am for cripes sake,” He pounded his fist onto the bed, one leaving a considerable sized whole from his left hand. He had forgotten that it was a cybernetic, “I want answers, and I want them now,”

The doctor chuckled, obviously finding this amusing. Spears clenched his teeth, “Do you think this is funny? Keeping me locked up like a prisoner?”

Atkins face straightened, the mood suddenly getting serious, “Not at all. We did, after all, save you. Just please have patience. I’ll give you a moment of privacy for now. I’m sure you’ll find everything you need in the cabinets, they’re unlocked,”

Spears ignored him, the doctor’s spine shuddering smile coming back. Spears waited till he left before jolting out of bed. He went straight to the window, ignoring the pain. Surprisingly, the pain wasn’t that bad for so soon after surgery. Or however soon. Spears didn’t even know what day it was. Perhaps it was the drugs Atkins gave him. None-the-less, he tried prying open the window. Try as he might though, it didn’t budge. And there was nothing convenient enough to bust it open.

Spears sighed, sitting back onto the bed. He looked at his cabinet, seeing that it was his only option. Hopping off, he walked slowly towards it. His hand touched the latch, giving him a moment of hesitation. What more did he have to lose? He was lucky to be alive now, and clearly these people saved him and didn’t kill him. Whoever they were…

Opening it up, there was clothing inside and a note. The note read, ‘You’ll find everything you need in here. Front door is open when you want to leave. Good luck with your new life!’ Spears peered inside. A nicely tailored suit hung from a wrack, a matching black trilby hat, and a tie. A few identity chips sat on the shelf above. He glanced around making sure no one was looking and pulled on the suit, fitting the tie in place and donned the hat. It was all a perfect match. Spears shuddered in shock, crept out by these people.

He pulled the cards from the top shelf and held them in his hand. It was his passport, flying and speeder driving license, and a Corellian ID permit with a name on it “Nixon Spears” making it clear that he has a new identity now. A new life. Apparently he was on Corellia though, one more clue to a bigger puzzle. One piece at a time.

Spears opened the door, looking around in the empty hall. One both ends sat exit doors. Another note stuck to the wall in front of him and he plucked it off, “What’s this?”

It read, ‘Now you can have your final answer. Good luck once more, and happy hunting on putting your life back together,’ He flipped it around to see if there was anything else. Of importance on it. There was another card, it was old and had water damage, bent, and slightly torn on the edges. There was a picture, a man with a dashing smile that he instantly recognized. Him. He read the name, his mouth falling open, shocked.

“Riles Cole,” He whispered to himself. Suddenly, the memories came flooding back like a tidal wave to the shoreline. Everything, all of it, was coming back to him now. He wasn’t Riles Cole however, he was Nixon Spears. A new man, a new life, and a new start. He pocketed the old card into his back pocket for safe keeping. He knew where he was heading first, the nearest Imperial Recruiter stand. He left the strange building, which now sat deserted and empty from whoever was in it before had left. He made mistakes in the past, huge ones. It was time to sew the wounded seems and start new, a better life. Spears felt beaming confidence go through him, suddenly proud. It was indeed a very fine day.

Enlistment

Upon Enlisting into the Empire, Spears already knew where his place lied. He had envisioned himself service in the Imperial Army, as one of the men in white. Jumping at the chance of acceptance into the Imperial Academy, he zipped through with flying colors before proceeding to Army training. After his focused -yet somewhat nervous- work was completed within the Academy, he had been accepted in the ranks of a true Imperial. More so, a soldier in the Army.

While going through the Imperial Academy with a quick breeze, he had picked up a close friend along the way. Cadet Cuun, commonly refered as "Rad" through his nickname. Albiet their differences through service, one Navy while Spears remained Army, they grew close in their frienship as brothers. Through their Imperial service, they came strong allies to one another as well as getting to know eachother far better than they did in seperated Academy classes by different professors. While both graduated quite well, Spears knew it would be quite a lasting friendship, one that should never be let go of.

Imperial Army

Proud of his service, and status within the Army, he was glad to be working as a biker scout. Spears had been known to be quick, reflexive, and agile in his movements. Usually focusing on speed and tactics, he prevailed over his opponents, who in turn, usually cared more about brute force and strength. Not only this, but his skills with long range weaponry may just be close to second to none. He is fluent in using a rifle, but has the senses and is trained as a sniper. There’s a sixth sense to him… no one just doesn’t know what it is.

Abilities

Serving in the Imperial Army as a Scout Trooper, Spears’ work employs in the directions of marksman capabilities. This usually means he has to have good reflexes, above average speed, and is quick to think on his feet. As he’s served, he’s proven quite capable through all of them, especially his ability to use a rifle. With the favoritism of long-range weaponry, he has honed his skills to the best, particularly favoring the Nightstinger as his primary weapon. Even so, he still requires maneuverability, so even the trusty old Scout Pistol will be well assured -and put to good use- by him.

While being in the Biker Corps, Spears has also improved on his reconnaissance, proving him as a excellent runner and scout. Always being more than willing to be the first to go in or check what’s up ahead, it’s quite common to see Spears volunteer as quickly as he can. If his duties do not require that of a sniper, or scout, he provides a messenger then. Being quick and agile, he can duck, roll, and dive out of the way of stray or oncoming fire. None-the-less, he can be seen during the middle of combat to run straight through the deadly beams of energy, just to deliver the message in the case a COM unit does not work properly. Spears knows the risk of this. While he may take a hit and be injured, even severely, he still draws breath…

…And while breath still can be drawn, the messages could still be delivered.

Personality & Traits

Connections

Corporal John William

A thin relation had come up between Spears and John, commonly called “Will,”. But as time managed to go by and Spears had made it into the Army where Will served, their friendship grew into a brotherly bond. Their service together had lengthened and both were commonly seen together in combat operations or field events. During off duty hours the two could be caught chatting or having a drink at the local bar or cantina.

Through their discussions and chats, both of the men came closer to knowing each other. With this and time, Spears had learned some shocking information. Riles Cole, a cousin and very close friend of Spears, had been killed. Spears had learned that Riles had been a very close man and Will’s squad leader of the Ghost Bears. A reconnaissance unit that had held Scout Troopers for a quick reaction force and a scouting unit. Spears had learned more about Riles than he thought. The man had been greatly loved by the Army, especially those in Enlisted ranks and his Legion. He had also survived a mysterious death that never came through an operation in which he and Will were the only survivors of the squad, Ghost Bears.

After which, Riles and Will remained close after their friends had lost. The only reason they lived was because 1st Lieutenant Karon Alfan had a mission in the area and personally sought out the rescue mission with a squad of her Stormtroopers. Being quickly carried to medical facilities due to their injuries, they healed. Shortly after this, they resumed active duty and were found on a escort mission with Navy Captain Stanov. With a swift and undetected rebel attack at a nearby star port, Riles had lead Will to check it out. After being separated in different directions as the fire fight ensued, Riles never returned. It was later assumed he had been MIA before being reported KIA a week later after failed findings. It had been shortly realized though that the man defected before being captured and executed.

Will carried on his duties in smooth missions and relaxed operations. After hearing the full side of the story, Spears had been crushed and felt defeated. None-the-less, Spears shared no sympathy for his close cousin as of what he had done was wrong. Will however, became a ally to Spears and a close friend.

Service Events and Operations

Reuniting with Lost Spirits

After Spears’ and Will’s friendship increased they became as close to brothers as one can come. Shortly after this, Will had requested Spears to come with him to the tragic site as a guest and a friend to have company. In agreement, Spears traveled with Will to where his squad had been killed in action. As the two proceeded through thick forestry to come upon a grass field on their speeder bikes, the site where the squad landed and was ambushed could come into view. The grass was only slightly thicker than before, and the trees were also thicker and greener. Other than that, the stories Will told checked out and the realism came to life. In a flash, a group of rebels appeared before disappearing again in a blink.

Hesitating, Spears realized this was only a flashback as he was living by the stories Will told. In all means and truth, they were quite real and matched up perfectly. Halting, Will jumped off his speeder bike before slowly trudging forward what Spears called the “Walking Blues,”. The man went into a jog before falling to his knees and removing his helmet, tears laden on his face. Spears had remained where he was at on his speeder bike and gave Will his time. It was his Sergeant, his friend, and his close brother and teacher. It may have been Spears close cousin, but he kept his distance and only made his vows in silence. He didn’t know squad Ghost Bears, but from what he has heard, they’ve proven to be quite a reaction force.

Beyond Will, only a few helmets could be seen sitting atop spears that were sunk into the earthy dirt. The scout trooper helmets where weathered and worn down, some dented or cracked, but seemed to remain undisturbed. It was a haunting feeling, a ghostly one to look at them. But yet relaxing, brothers who did their duty. His emotions could not be expressed. While those helmets sat atop the spears, only two where missing. Will’s, and Riles’.

Standing up, Will murmured a prayer to them with a bow of his head before retreating back to the speeders. The only comfort that was received from Spears to Will was a pat on the back and reassurance it’d be okay. Spears gave the guy some room as he needed space to breath for now until he calmed down. Back handing his face and wiping away the tears of his leathered gloves, Will donned his helmet in place. No more is known than this, as Spears doesn’t speak of the event much, nor is much information given out. However, later it is found out that Spears is Riles Cole. He didn't tell Will or anyone else prior, during, or shortly after the event. Days later though, Will did discover this an the two friends reunited.

Spears is commonly seen his armor, as he usually comments he feels naked or exposed without it. It’s become apart of him, like a moss on a tree and mustn’t be let go. While he’s usually seen with Scout Trooper armor -Not a surprise from the work he does- it’s quite unique. The armor itself has been camouflaged into a green, brown pattern mimicking darker shades of forestry environment or woodland areas. The armor can already be seen with slight dents in it and areas where the paint is scarred to a dark, charcoal black from blaster marks or continuous weathering. But, even from this, Spears’ armor is kept up to notch and clean. After all, he kind of favors having the scar marks, scratches, and dents on his armor. Shows he at least has some experience in the field.

A traditional Kama is worn around Spears’ legs, symbolizing that his family comes a crossed the ties of Mandalore. It can be easily fitted to his utility belt, as well as utilizing two blaster holsters for extra weapon efficiency and firepower if required. It’s coated the color of a dark gray, with a hue of brown touched into it to blend with his armor as well as his surroundings. Only at the edge of the Kama at the very bottom can cuts be seen and made out, by otherwise it seems to be very well taken care of and carefully inspected after as it’s one of Spears’ few personal possessions that still remains with him.

Spears hopes to wear the Pauldron in the coming days to display his status as a Sergeant. Though, he feels that it’ll take necessary time to properly achieve the rank through hard work and dedication towards not only the Imperial Army, but also the Galactic Empire. Earning the respect of his fellow comrade’s and his superiors though is what he finds most important -as well as obeying orders-. Through the coming days, he hopes to achieve on that correctly fights a Scout Trooper armor set. As he has yet to see it happen.

As much as he loves his armor, he can’t wear it all the time. During some parts of off-duty ours or relaxation he can be seen in his urban camo’d fatigues. On formal events or celebrations he wears his Army dress uniform. But not always. Sometimes he’s able to sneak in with his armor donned. It’s become more of a signature for him to be seen in his armor. If you see the man without it, you’ve probably just made history as it does come and go quickly when it happens and only happens on rare occasions.

Secrets...

Not much is known about Spears. He states he was born on Corellia, in the outskirts of City 7 to be exact. His family members are unknown and where he came from is also unknown. The man is quiet and keeps to himself when it comes to his family or his where abouts. Why this is, no one knows, not even his closest friends. The only reason he was recruited was because there were minor records of him on the holonet, he had a Corellian citizen card, as well as a speeder/ship permit. Where his original origins are or came from is usually of curiousity of others, but they'll most likely never know.

...Revealed

Recently, Spears expressed some quite important, if not even major information with his close friend Jason Con. Spears had explained to him about Riles Cole. And to Jason's shocking belief, he had found out Spears was Riles. When Riles Cole had been executed -or so thought-, he had been disposed of. Quite shockingly, he was still found with a pulse and brain activity, as it only takes a little bit of brain waves to revive someone. Taken care of and healed up by what is still an unknown source today, even to him, he recovered slowly and took time in healing. Once healed, he found that his name, "Riles Cole" and that all else was deleted from basically all information databases. Only a few personal possessions remained from what was no a past life, and a few new possesions including his new identity posted on the holonet, and was given the necessary citizen and government cards required to move on with life unnoticed. Only few of know of this closely guarded secret, and Spears still has black spots in his memory of his past as Riles Cole.

Team Ghost Bear

A personal squad made up of close friends and hardened veterans. While not official, or unofficial if at all existing, the group is just compromised of some of the best scouts in the Imperial Army. Perhaps even, the Empire. The men have become so well adapt at their duties of recon, scouting, communications, search and destroy, sniping, infiltration, and other high risk and near suicidal missions they're commonly called "Ghost Bears" or "Ghosts" for short. Most don't know they're around, whether it'd be friendlies or not. The group is looked upon as hostile to pretty much anything outside of the Empire, acting with lethal and extremely deadly force. They're tactics, techniques, and logics behind situations is effeciant and accurate.

There has been only four recorded deaths in total; Private Buck, Private First Class Checker, Private First Class Ka`Marick, and Corporal LaRone. The total number of men in the group is unknown, however it's been estimated that there are about twenty field operators, excluding command units. All the men come from different Legions within the Imperial Army, those of which are classified. Most of their prior service is unknown, but suggests military work due to their effectiveness, and consider themselves elitist.

While Spears (Riles), or any other survivors are not acting as an official Imperial group or squad, they're just commonly reflected upon Ghost Bears because of their field work and combat abilities when working together. The men in the Team are all good men, and brothers to one another. Most come from Mercenary, or equal backgrounds to such before service in the Empire. Through Imperial training, they've become disciplined and hardened to the core. They're advanced in seperate trainings and rolls, tactically trained to the best, and are always trying to maintain their top performance. Alone, one is strong. Together, they're dangerous. Armed to the teeth, wired to the eyes, advanced to the core. They are, Ghost Bears.
