Ronald "Hopper" Kovani is a proud member of the Imperial Army. He does what he can to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Empire. The nickname Hopper was given to him by his fellow members of the 6IF, while he was there.

First Years

Ronald Kovani was born on the planet of Kuat, by a woman he never got to know, because he was removed from her very shortly after his birth. His father, Jake Turner, had a one-night-stand with this woman, which resulted in Ronald’s birth. Therefore, Jake took his newly-born son back to Kuat, where the family originally came from. There, he made use of a favor owed to him by one of the family clans, the Atkins, where he grew up like one of them. He learned to know the value and importance of family, and he learned how important honor was. So from a young age, he has been an honorable person, doing what was needed regardless of risk, because his family asked him to do it.

Life on Kuat

He spent most of his life on Kuat, learning the art of trading along with getting taught how to fight, as he figured it could come in handy at a later time, if he were ever to travel around in the galaxy by himself. He also learned how to handle a ship, and he became good at it too, thanks to his people’s skills as ship manufacturers. Other than educating himself in trading, fighting and flying, he spent time at his most important duty; protecting the family. The head of his family had put him in charge of the Family Protectors, and that was a job he took very seriously.

Leaving Home

When Ronald reached the age of 24, the head of the Atkins family clan approached him personally, and they spoke for many hours. Ronald learned that he wasn’t really a part of that clan, not even a member of the family. He learned that he was a part of the family named Turner, a family that had abandoned Kuat long ago. Therefore, he decided to leave his family on Kuat and go out into the galaxy to find his real family and become part of it. Shortly after, he found other members of his family working in the New Anzat Order. Therefore, he too joined the New Anzat Order, and was also welcomed into the Turner family be the Grand Duke Michael Turner. He felt that his life started to give meaning now.

The Truth

But that was not to last for long, because on a deployment he was on for the Anzatan Peoples Guard, he was wounded and left by his team mates and was marked as Missing in Action. He managed to escape from the planet, but not with ease due to the wound in his leg. On this tour, he met a woman that he didn't know. At least he didn't think so. He found out, thanks to her recognizing him, that she was his mother. The one he had been removed from. Not only did he meet her, he also learned a truth about himself: He was not a member of the Turner family. Jake Turner was not his father, but a man named Ray Kovani, who was long dead now. Even though Ronald wanted to, he knew that he could not stay with her, so he moved on, and eventually ended up returning to the Anzatan space station named Ord Anzat. Here he was helped by a woman that he considers his friend; Adri`ana Salvatore. He was treated medically on the station and then returned to service for the Anzatan Peoples Guard, after finding out that he had been promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant.

Change of Life

Now that he had returned, he decided to make something more of himself. He started the Kovani House. Also, he decided to leave the New Anzat Order for the purpose of gaining new experience, on other fields than the one of a soldier. He joined the Lyran Union, and even though he had set his mind to leaving the soldier's way of life, he quickly became the Commanding Officer of the Lyran Army. Also, he was appointed to Headmaster of the Lyran Military Academy, and he had a couple of other part-time jobs. It didn't last for long, however, as shortly after, another person joined. A person that Ronald just couldn't work with, and when confronting his superiors with this, he was simply ignored. Therefore, he left. His next step was currently unknown. All that was known, is that he was staying far away from the Lyran Union, as he was wanted for High Treason, Espionage and Actions Inimical to the State.

Caught up in the Past

A long time passed where Ronald minded his own business, and by pure unluck, he was caught by the Lyran Union, and put before a trial, he was forced to stay in the Union as a soldier once more. This only lasted for so long, however, as he learned they were about to dissolve, and he was bought free by a friend. This left him free to leave the Union whenever he wished - which showed up to be immediately. He left the Union.

Black Sun

Shortly after leaving the Lyran Union, Ronald was recruited to the underground organization of Black Sun. He quickly rose through the ranks from a mere Recon pilot to Executive Officer of the Recon team, to Commanding Officer and practically Executive Officer of the Black Watch, Black Sun's Intelligence department, and shortly afterwards he received a promotion that made him Commanding Officer of this department, too. It didn't last very long, however, as actions made by the government forced him to leave in disagreement with their ways. He felt that he could not participate in those events.

Another Career Change

Being without work, Ronald was recommended by a good friend to join the Stars` End Mining Company. He did, and was welcomed. Ronald made new friends here, and he worked hard on the assignments given to him. Sadly, it bored him. Being a man in need of action around him, and used to secrecy, he didn't feel that he fit in here, so he spoke with the leader of his faction and left on good terms with his old co-workers.

A Mistake and its Correction

For reasons that are still unknown to Ronald, he joined the newly formed faction, Turner Securities Limited, but he only stayed for a day after realizing what a mistake he had made when coming there. He didn't belong with the Turners, and so he quickly left and instead joined the Galactic Empire, where he - after thorough background checks - was welcomed warmly into the Imperial Navy, where he spent little over a year, getting to the rank of Flight Officer before he was transfered to the Imperial Army, thus dropping one rank down to Master Sergeant. It didn't take long, however, for him to get back to his former rank level, now a Sergeant Major.

Climbing the paygrades

Having joined the 1st Imperial Legion, he got back in an element well known to him from his previous jobs. As such, he was able to use more of his experience and his talent was quickly recognized by his Commanding Officer, who, upon the previous XO's leave and the promotion of the previous Legion Adjutant, approached Ronald and offered him the newly opened position of Legion Adjutant. An offer, Ronald gratefully and humbly accepted.

Character Description

Personality

Ronald is most likely to be found in a serious mood, not having patience for joking around. Most of his time is spent with doing the important things, like work or handling family issues. He will not tolerate anyone insulting his or his family’s honour, no matter who does it, be it his best friend or his worst enemy. So his family is sort of a weak spot for him. Even though he is almost always being serious, he is a nice and helpful person, not unfriendly unless someone annoys him, and he’s not afraid to add a smile or a laugh to the conversation, where it fits.

Appearance

Always looking very relaxed and self-confident, he’s usually dressed in either a uniform due to his work, or in a suit, as he wants to look as serious as possible. It’s a habit that has been forced onto him, a habit that he doesn’t want to change anymore, as it makes him feel more comfortable when people see him as a serious person. Ronald stands 6"2' (1.88m) tall and with a weight of 167.5 pounds (76kg) he is of average build. Both his hair and his eyes are brown.
