Vulkan Tovarus is a staff member within the Regional Government of the Galactic Empire. Although fairly new to the Empire he is a skilled hunter, especially on his homeworld of Sakiya. He was named the 'Void-Flame' by his elders for the aggressive nature of his hunting style, using the shadows to his advantage and seemingly striking from nowhere.

Standing well over six foot in height, Vulkan is a large muscular specimen from Sakiya. Due to his Sakiyan genetics his skin is a dark black, and his eyes are a deep red in color. He has no hair, much like most Sakiyans. When hunting he usually wears a mixture of ornate and functional armor, some adorned with recent 'trophies' from previous hunts, the color scheme is normally a dark green with gold accented. When on duty he wears the standard issue Imperial uniform.

Early Life

Life on Sakiya

Vulkan was born to Ca-Rlyn and Fhrizen on Sakiya, in an outpost near one of the main Sakiyan jungles, an unknown number of years before the rise of the Empire. Early on he showed signs of being an apt hunter and took to the jungle as a second home. His brother E'Loc was born years later and became Vulkan's hunting partner and best friend. Together they roamed the jungle looking for challenges that they could learn from, often their father joined them and taught them many skills they still use to this day.

In his early teens Vulkan was made aware of a sacred Sakiyan system of honor, one in which monthrael represented ones personal honor and yithrael mirrored ones family honor. Vulkan took to this code and worked day and night to improve his monthrael. It was after his dedication to the honor code that his father told him of a story, one in which the yithrael of Vulkan's family had been stained for generations. Although the story is somewhat skewed due to the years and years of telling he learned that many years ago his grandfather had done a great injustice to his people. It was determined that the Tovarus's yithrael was stained and could only be repaired by a great feat of magnitudes not seen on Sakiya before. Several generations of Tovarus offspring had attempted to cleanse the family yithrael, all either failing or not meeting the elders acceptance of what could clean the family honor.

Fhrizen Tovarus, Vulkan's father and well respected member of the outpost, had fashioned a plan to hunt the largest creature on their side of Sakiya and present this defeated creature to the elders. He had hoped this would cleanse the bloodline. Both Vulkan and E'Loc accompanied their father on this hunt, and for the most part it was an uneventful tracking. Finally they had cornered their prey in a cave, Fhrizen described his plan to his sons. At the mouth of the cave they waited for the great beast (later identified as an Aklay), they started a fire to smoke out the creature. Minutes turned to hours and the creature had yet to emerge, Vulkan was getting anxious and decided to go in after the animal. His father was against the action but followed Vulkan in but before they could get into the cave the hulking beast exited, slamming Vulkan against the ground. Fighting with E'loc, Fhrizen fiercely defended his son. He faught with teh ferocity that many hadn't seen in a hundred years, chopping several of the beasts legs off he managed to get it off of Vulkan. Kneeling beside his son Fhrizen told him it was over they would restore the families yithrael. Vulkan was badly hurt but apologized for being stubborn and rushing in the cave, but before he could finish his apology the beast lashed out with its remaining strength and stabbed Fhrizen through the chest. E'Loc instantly beheaded the injured creature but the damage was done, Fhrizen fell lifeless. E'Loc was able to carry Vulkan out of the jungle, with their fathers body and the head of the beast.

Days past as Vulkan recovered from his wounds, but the time came to meet before the elders and determine if their yithrael had been cleaned. Vulkan and E'Loc stood before the council, in a dramatic fashion they told their fathers story of heroism and the great feat of defeating the prey they had tracked. The council impressed by the story elevated Fhrizen's monthrael to the highest possible level, but they could not cleanse the family yithrael. They had determined that although the great quest had defeated a great opponent, this had satisfied his personal honor, but Vulken rushing in blazingly had caused his fathers death. This had kept the family honor stained and was to continue until cleansed. Vulken stormed out as he realized that he was the sole reason his family honor was still stained. E'loc assured him this would be fixed and at their father's funeral pyre that night Vulkan vowed to right his wrongs and fix the family yithrael if it was the last thing he did.

Vulkan left the next morning and wasn't seen for weeks.
