About the Imperial Army

Army_Logo.png
The Fist of Imperial Strength.

The Imperial Army is the Galactic Empire's planetary military force, enjoying access to some of the most advanced munitions and technologies in the Galaxy, as well as coordinating with the Imperial Navy to better safeguard the Emperor's territories. Given the mandate of protecting and enforcing the rule of Imperial law on the scores of sovereign Imperial worlds, the soldiers and officers of the Imperial Army rely on superior discipline, advanced weaponry, and courage to carry the day. However, the Imperial Army's strength is not in its training regimen or vehicular might, fields in which it dominates nonetheless, but its strength lies in the dedication, devotion, and strength of character of its personnel, from the humble enlisted soldier, to the officers who comprise Army Command.

The mission of the Imperial Army, in short, is to:

Defend the sovereignty of Imperial worlds from foreign military forces and insurgent movements,
Enforce Imperial law and order in conjunction with the Imperial Navy, officers of the Imperial Security Bureau, and Imperial Intelligence agents,
Conduct regular training operations and maneuvers to ensure unit cohesion and efficacy,
Coordinate efforts with the Imperial Regional Government to ensure the Emperor's rule remains unchallenged in Imperial space, and lastly,
Provide assistance and support in the form of military action to allies of the Empire who so require it.

His Majesty's Imperial Army is led by Army Command, the highest echelon in the service. ACOMD, as it is more commonly known, is comprised of officers who hold the following positions: Army Commanding Officer, Army Executive Officer, Army Logistics Officer, and Army Signals Officer. ACOMD acts as an overarching body, controlling the three Imperial Legions, which in turn is divided into 2 Brigades each. Each of these Brigades is assigned to a Sector of Imperial space, and they can be identified as either Assault or Reconnaissance Brigades.

History of the Army

Work in progress....

Corps of the Army

The Imperial Army is divided into three Corps, namely;
Imperial Army Infantry Corps
Imperial Army Armoured Corps
Imperial Army Reconnaissance Corps

Infantry Corps

Role

The role of the infantry is to close with and destroy the enemy, by day or by night, in all weather conditions, and terrain.

Structure

The Infantry Corps is composed of Stormtrooper units utilizing close-combat tactics and capabilities and wielding support weaponry such as anti-armour and anti-air. The Infantry Corps is divided into companies which work within the Brigades.

Integration

Infantry Companies are the backbone and the heart of the Imperial Army. They operate as frontline combatants, engaging the enemy after the initial assault by the Armour battalions, and are of primary importance in clearing structures on an assault - or protecting structures during a defensive - after the initial battle has subsided.

Skill Requirements

Armoured Corps

Role

The role of armour is to defeat the enemy through the aggressive use of firepower and battlefield mobility, and provide battlefield transportation for the infantry.

Structure

The Armour Corps is composed of Light and Heavy Armour units utilizing superior firepower and speed and wielding All-Terrain Scout Transports or All-Terrain Armoured Transports as infantry transportation and weapons platforms. The Armour Corps is divided into battalions which work within the Brigades.

Integration

Armour Battalions are the legs and the fists of the Imperial Army. They are the first combatants sent into battle to deal a crushing offensive against enemy forces - or as the first line of defense against an enemy advance - in order to weaken or neutralize the enemy forces prior to infantry contact.

Skill Requirements

For information on the skills required to be an officer in the Imperial Army Reconnaissance Corps speak with the Army Recruitment representative in the Imperial Centre for recruitments channel #cmg-empire-icr.

Reconnaissance Corps

Role

The role of reconnaissance is to obtain and relay timely information about the enemy and the ground, and contribute to battlefield security.

Structure

The Reconnaissance Corps is composed of Recon Lance units utilizing speed and manoeuvrability and wielding Cloud Car Combatspeeders as scouts and quick reaction forces. The Reconnaissance Corps is divided into battalions which work within the Brigades.

Integration

Recon Battalions are the eyes and the ears of the Imperial Army. They are deployed to gather intelligence prior to other units engaging a target - or as scouts to deliver intelligence on incoming enemy advances - to find potential weaknesses to exploit or strengths to negate, and are further able to react swiftly to unexpected enemy advances to maintain a light, mobile defense on multiple fronts.

1st Brigade

Immortals2.png
Live with Courage, Die with Honor. Immortals

The 1st Brigade is tasked with defending some of the Empire's most heavily populated worlds, coordinating military efforts with the Groups of the 1st Imperial Fleet, and safeguarding the honor, rule of law, and integrity of the territories that they are responsible for. Since its inception on Year 12 Day 152, 1BDE has been under the command of Major Akai Ai, who was assigned his command when he was transferred from the 3rd Legion (where he had previously earned the rank of Command Sergeant) after earning his Officer's Commission and being promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Under Ai's command, the 1st has been at the forefront of all manner of active duty deployments and operations, from the Planetary Audit of late Y12 and early Y13, to the celebrated Imperialization of the Ralltiir System. Most recently, the 1st Brigade participated in a service rotation to the Derra system, to keep it secure in the name of the Emperor.

The 1st Brigade shares its history and honors with the Legion of which it is a part, as well as its insignia, a Fiery Phoenix embossed over the Imperial Seal. It is said that the Immortals do not die, but simply go to Hell, where they regroup to launch a counterattack against their foes, lending the Officers and enlisted personnel of the 1st Brigade a fearsome reputation on the battlefield.

4th Brigade

DEMISE!
Spectres

The 4th Brigade is the Imperial Army unit stationed in the center of the Galaxy, and is tasked with maintaining Imperial law, order, and security in that region of space, with the assistance and cooperation of the 5th Imperial Fleet. Like the 1st Brigade, its companion unit, the 4th was established on the 152nd Day of the Year 12, following the Army Reforms. Tamarynn Farr served as the Brigade's first CO, a position which she also held with distinction for some time, until her transfer to Imperial Intelligence. Santiano Salazar subsequently took command of the 4th, until he was elevated to the position of CO of the whole 1st Legion. The third CO of the Brigade was Kol Seraph, who previously served as Executive Officer of the 1st Brigade before assuming command. Aside from his position as CO of 4BDE, Seraph also held the position of Signals Officer of the 1st Legion. After Seraph stepped down as BCO, his XO, Icarus Carinae, assumed command as 4BDE's 4th CO. The 5th and currently-highest ranking Commanding Officer of the Brigade was Brigadier General Gunther Rall, previously the Executive Officer of Army Command before adopting the mantle of Brigade Commander in Year 14. Lastly but certainly not least, the 4th's CO at present is Redme Schwarz, a veteran soldier of the Legion and the Spectres.

Tasked with forging its own identity after the Reforms of Year 12, the 4th adopted a Skull device embossed over the Imperial Seal as its unit insignia, and its motto, "DEMISE!" (pronounced de-me-say), is used as an informal greeting between Officers and enlisted soldiers in the unit, as well as a battlecry in the field. The 4th has yet to engage an enemy in battle that has not fled before their call to battle.

To see the enemy while unseen, to learn what they know with them none the wiser, until its too late... that is power. - Only a special kind of soldier has the honor of calling himself a Scout Trooper.

2nd Brigade: 'Hellhounds'

2mdmaup.png
'Ex Inferni Portae'
'From Hell's Gates'

Ex Inferni Portae ('From Hell's Gates') is an apt motto for the Hellhounds, as to the enemies of the Empire, the 2nd Brigade of the Imperial Army appear to be nothing short of the stuff of nightmares. An unrelenting cascade hell-bent on wiping their foes clean from the battlefield. Experts in close quarter combat and battlefield strategy, the Hellhounds have engaged in and accomplished victory in countless operations. They have earned their notoriety as one of the most feared and respected Brigades in the Galactic Empire's arsenal; its infamous, dogged determination ensuring a psychological as well as a physical victory over its enemies.

The Hellhounds, as members of the 2nd Imperial Legion, were formed within the ninth year of Imperial light and are one of two Brigades that make up the 2IL. During their long and dedicated service they have earned numerous citations as a whole and individually for their courageous acts and achievements. The Hellhounds are composed of several battalions with differing skillsets, making the 2nd Brigade an extremely versatile and deadly unit for all who oppose it. These battalions include armored formations and reconnaissance lances.

Although mainly an infantry force, the 2nd Brigade also makes use of mechanized units such as the AT-ST and the dreaded AT-AT vehicle that is not only capable of delivering both anti-infantry and anti-vehicle weaponry but also a full company of infantry. While these units are freely available to them, the Hellhounds prefer a more 'up close and personal' approach and are often found disembarking en-mass from AT-AT barges, a transport designed to carry its namesake. Due to their size, however, these barges are also capable of delivering over a hundred troops like a spearhead to the heart of any battle-zone.

The Brigade remains strong and is tirelessly resolute in their goal to protect the Empire from the attacks of the insidious wherever they may be.

Where their Brothers in the 5th Brigade are swift and silent, the 2nd is unrelenting and ferocious.

No quarter is given, no mercy bestowed.

'...What is a Brigade? Where the Legion is your home, the Brigade is your Family.'
Excerpt from a speech given by the 2nd Brigade's commander to newly recruited troopers.

5th Brigade: 'Infernos'

5BDEpatch-1.png
'Nulla Clementia, Nulla Dedito'
'No Mercy, No Surrender'

'Nulla Clementia, Nulla Dedito' (No Mercy, No Surrender); the Infernos are known to be swift and silent in movement, and for their ferocity in battle. Their preferred tactic is to attack at the heart of the enemy, crippling them from the inside out, rather than a straightforward onslaught. No stranger to close quarters combat, the Infernos prefer to send in the smallest tactical team possible to eliminate the largest number of enemy forces with minimal loss. The Infernos are known less throughout the Galactic Empire for the grandeur of their missions, but more for the speed, precision, and efficiency in which they accomplish them.

The Infernos were formed within the ninth year of Imperial light and are the second of two Brigades that make up the 2nd Imperial Legion. Like their sister Brigade, they have earned numerous citations as a whole and individually for their courageous acts and achievements during their service in the Legion. The Infernos are composed of several units of differing skill sets. These battalions include heavy and light armor elements, infantry formations, and reconnaissance forces.

The 5th Brigade has many other assets available to them which include the renowned AT-ST, and of course, the fearsome AT-AT. Though such heavy weaponry is available to the Brigade, its role dictates that it be prepared primarily to engage in infantry and reconnaissance operations. The 5th Brigade is the primary defense force of one of the Galactic Empire's largest sectors, and works closely with the Imperial Navy's 6th Imperial Fleet to ensure the security of that sector.

3rd Brigade: 'Shadow Guard'

shadowguardlogo.png
'Fear what lurks in the Shadows.'

Born of the shadows which cast the enemies of the New Order into eternal darkness, of the gloom which forms when the skies of resistant worlds are obscured by Imperial dropships, the Guardsmen of the Imperial Army's 3rd Brigade are notable harbingers of destruction and death. Their name, the Shadow Guard, is whispered in fear by the Emperor's enemies throughout the Galaxy.

Hailing from, and ever-committed to the defense of, the Corellian Imperial Sector, which hosts bright jewels in the Imperial crown such as Corellia and Rendili, those few who have the honor of serving in the 3rd Brigade bear a unique distinction: being the only soldiers in the whole Imperial Army with the privilege of calling themselves "Guardsmen". Thus they share titular distinction with both the legendary Echani Sun Guards, and the most lethal conventional warriors in the modern galaxy: the members of the elite Imperial Royal Guard.

The dedicated men and women of the Shadow Guard served with distinction during the Derra IV campaign, being among the first units mobilized to defend that troubled world from the machinations of the Galactic Alliance. At Derra, the 3rd reinforced its reputation as a unit worthy of recognition, becoming feared by rebels and criminals alike throughout the Galaxy, for standing its ground against the combined strength of the Krath Dynasty's zealots and the numerically superior forces of the New Republic's Army Command. As it has since its inception during the Army Reforms of Year 8, the Shadow Guard stands ready to hold the Imperial line and take the fight to the enemy, spreading fear of His Majesty the Galactic Emperors terrible will in its wake.

6th Brigade: 'Pathfinders'

6BDEPatch_zpsf176ebe6.png
'Oculi Exercitus'
'The Eyes of the Army'

The 6th Brigade, also known as 'the Pathfinders', was created as part of the Army reorganization in Year 12. It serves as one half of the 3rd Imperial Legion alongside its counterpart, the 3rd Brigade. Commanded by Navarro "Demo" De Molay, the 6th Brigade prides itself on doing silently what others do with emphasis.

With its reconnaissance orientation, the 6th Brigade mission profile differs from that of a regular Army Brigade in that it focuses on initial contact; 6th Brigade legionnaires are most often the first boots on the ground. Once 6th Brigade's units touch down, they are tasked with establishing Landing Zones and forward Headquarters for regular forces. From there, they move on to advance reconnaissance, scouting foreign and hostile positions and infrastructure in all environments.

While its manpower and equipment strengths are classified, 6th Brigade is fully capable of performing its function as both forward observer and advance infantry in the Imperial Army; 6th Brigade legionnaires are capable of both deep reconnaissance and direct action operations. Being a newer unit, it has a shorter history than other Army brigades, but this does not diminish the success of its operations and engagements.
