Pons is a Hapan, born to Constance and Xavier Aram on the planet Wodan. Shortly after his birth, his parents took a job with some merchants helping deliver cargo throughout the galaxy. They wanted their son to grow up among the stars and to visit different star systems. They wanted Pons to have a multi-cultured life and experience all that was possible among the stars.
His parents always told him of the beautiful systems that were in the Hapes Cluster. But as their love for Hapes was deep, they wanted their son to experiment the galaxy so that later in life he could return to his birthplace and have a better appreciation for all that it is.
Pons’ parents were killed when their ship was hijacked by an unknown pirate crew. Pons was just 14 when the incident happened. He was taken hostage and later sold to slave traders. During a Galaxy festival, he was being auctioned off when a mercenary by the name of Tenac Shade purchased him. Tenac Shade used Pons to keep his ships and gear cleaned, taught him how to fly various types of ships, use firearms, swords, and some explosives. He also taught Pons some hand to hand combat techniques, although Pons preferred a blaster or rifle.
Tenac always allowed Pons to run free at the start ports they visited. Pons was loyal and never ran away. Tenac to him was another father. Pons always longed to go home to Hapes and discover what all his parents had talked about when he was a growing boy. He told Tenac his plans. Tenac not only told the young man he was free to go, but wished him luck on his new path. Pons always felt that Tenac was a little heartbroken that Pons left. After all, he was like a son to him.
