Like many born on the planet Nistal Alexei Aslanov was born into slavery. His parents whom he never knew were killed trying to escape shortly after his birth, so he never knew them, Scav a Toydarian who controlled a local gang known as the Scav'arians kept Alexei, intent on replacing his lost slaves. This though did not last very long, as the more Alexei grew the more trouble he became, learning early on about his parent's demise from other slaves and Scavs hand in it, he rebelled from a very young age and made the Toydarians life a living hell. While he did not truly understand of his parent's demise or what death truly was, Scavs cruelty drove him to act out none the less even more. Not believing Alexei's life was even worth his time to end he took the young boy at the age of seven and abandoned him on the streets, effectively washing his hands of the boy and simultaneously ending his life in one stroke. The streets of Nistal are unforgiving even to the toughest, so a child would last very little time alone. But Alexei did not die, in fact, he was taken in my an old Chiss mercenary that went by the name of Balor. Balor who would become Alexei's mentor and first real role model had once been a revered Mercenary who worked for the highest bidder all over the galaxy. Due to reasons that Balor kept only to himself, he retired to Nistal where he would take pity of the many orphans within and teach them to live, grow, fight and survive. Alexei became very fond of Balor right from the start and took to his teachings very quickly, by time he was nine, Alexei was running the streets of Nistal with many other orphans. It was in these years that Alexei would meet perhaps the closest friend he ever had, a chiss about his age who went by the name of Jaren. The two were practically joined at the hip from the moment they meant, and Alexei became fiercely protective of Jaren, one became known as the brains and the other became known as the brawn.

Scav the Slaver and Balor the Mercenary

Jaren and Alexei

Around the time that Alexei was about eleven or twelve he found himself in a rather troubling incident which in the end earned him a one-way ticket back into being a slave again. The life of living on the streets is hard, even more so in a lawless place like Nistal. Like many who made their living, Alexei often stole what he needed to survive, this was easier seeming there was no true form of enforcement on Nistal but also was a risk because criminals were often dealt with harshly and that meant that a blaster bolt to the back was not frowned upon. He had made a rather infamous name for himself among the many vendors and could barely walk the marketplace without someone trying to apprehend him. Like many before him, Alexei became emboldened, cocky, and thought that he could never be caught and that was what ultimately lead to his downfall at least for a couple years or so. It was Dug, a very angry Dug who finally captured Alexei and forced him into slavery to pay off all the credits he had deprived him of. Balor did not come to his rescue, in fact the Chiss would let Alexei stay in servitude if nothing else to learn that no one is infallible and eventually your misdeeds always catch up to you.

The Dug who captured Alexei

Alexi stayed under the thumb of that Dug was three solid years, working his fingers to the bone before he finally got his freedom back again. In the end it was Balor who rescued him, once again, feeling Alexei had more than worked off his debt. The Dug had intended to keep him indefinitely and eventually sell him off to another slaver, none of which Alexei had known. After regaining his freedom Alexei decided that a life of crime was best left to others, and he would resume his training under Balor instead. In the years leading up to his eventual eighteenth birthday he learned everything he possibly could from the Chiss preparing to eventually depart from Nistal once and for all and strike out into the galaxy, to find something more, to be something more. With some help from his longtime friend Jaren, Alexei would manage to buy his way onto a cargo freighter leaving Nistal for open space. He did not desire to be tied down on one planet, he longed for the vast open space and that is exactly what he did. Eventually he would obtain just enough credits to buy himself a surplus freighter, a ship of his own that he could explore the galaxy in. He was only twenty-one when the course of his entire life would shift for the worse, when he would go back to visit his home planet of Nistal and see his friends whom he missed dearly.

They would say it was quick, that the meteorite that destroyed Nistal was instantaneous and that none on the planet had felt any pain but that was little solace to Alexei.
