The Imperial Archives make no mention of Drake Vos before is enrollment into the Imperial Academy. Scanning DNA databases have revealed two known relatives. The first one is a non-direct blood relative, a uncle or nephew, by the name of Nilus Cato. A Devaronian who is in the database because of several bar fights and a speeder crash. The second one is a direct blood relative, a parent or child, by the name Alicia Amdis. This Devaronian is in the database as a security officer turned trader with no criminal history. Records for the Devaronian indicate that Nilus's brother Seth was married to Alicia Amdis. It would be safe to assume that Drake Vos is the only son the couple had, Kaine Cato. | The Imperial Archives make no mention of Drake Vos before is enrollment into the Imperial Academy. - Drake Vos a member of the Imperial Navy is as much of a mystery to those around him as a hyperdrive is to the average Gungan. I first met him during the last Imperial Ball. I was fascinated by the fact that nobody, not even his fellow fleet members, could tell me his species or even what he looks like, underneath the mask he wore. Consulting the vast Imperial Archives reveal surprisingly little. So little that I decided to investigate this pilot and his past. What I have learned so far is described on this pages.
Imperial Intelligence Agent Alpha-17
Years before Imperial Service
Unlike most male Deveronians Seth Cato didn't leave his wife to raise their children alone. The couple stayed together and ran a small trading company called Traders Horn. From the age of 13 Kaine/Drake regularly accompanied this father on this trading runs through the Mid and Outer Rims, often as a fighter escort. In the following years Kaine/Drake showed himself to be a skilled pilot and a cunning businessmen. It was a given that he would succeed his father as a trader.
Records continue until the year 07, when Kaine Cato was presumed killed along with his entire family in a series of bombings against the Traders Horn. The small orbital station, the planet side warehouse and the family residence were all hit simultaneously by baradium charges and reduced to rubble. Local security forces investigated the incident and concluded that the bombings were the work of Black Sun operatives. The entire Cato family was presumed to have been vaporized or torn to pieces by the powerful explosives. Rumours in the underworld suggest that the bombings were Black Suns reaction to Seth Cato refusal to 'donate' large sums of money to Black Sun.
Though no arrests were ever made, in the months following the bombings several individuals who were suspected of involvement turned up dead. An Aqualish, who was known for occasionally supplying Black Sun operatives, crashed his ship into an asteroid three months after the dead of the Cato family. A Twi`lek, who had spend time in prison for the fabrication and placement of bombs, was found dead 4 months after the bombings, strangled with his own lekku. And a year later the Black Sun boss, a Kel Dor, who was suspected of planning the hit died from oxygen poisoning when his breathing mask malfunctioned. With the Aqualish and the Kel Dor no trace was found of foul play, and they were both classified as accidents. While the Twi'leks dead was classified as a random mugging, though he still had his comm-link and coin purse.
The first record of Drake Vos in any databases is a request form for medical and electronic components, 14 months after the dead of the Cato family. These components were probably used to construct the mask that Drake Vos wears. In the following years Drake has make similar orders, presumably to upgrade his mask.
Imperial Service
When Drake Vos first arrived at the Imperial recruitment centre on the Imperial Throne world of Coruscant, he requested a private meeting with one of the physicians on duty. After an interview and a physical examination of several hours the physician added a note to Drakes file which stated that Drake may continually wear his mask/helmet, even during official ceremonies, for medical reasons.
