Born on Lorell, among the slim spires of Machadinon, Emeon is a child of two heritages. His mother, Ryae J'Ani Vay, was from an old, but minor and fairly indigent (for Hapan standards) nobility of Kiduin. Her perfect, oval face and calm, sparkling eyes have engraved themselves firmly in the heart of her eldest son. She had married Tevran Vay, a wealthy Kiffar trader and a passionate arts collector. When they were together, which was not that often, given Tevran's long business journeys, their differences seemed to blend into a dynamic harmony, drawing youthful vitality from the usually composed Hapan lady and soothing the loud, vigorous traveler, whose face was covered with odd, tribal paintings.

Most of his younger years Emeon spent under the care and educational rigor of his mother, learning Hapan history, literature and arts. However, every time Tevran came home, he took his son on board great haulers and freighters, so that the boy could familiarize himself with their construction and functioning. By the time he came of age, the young Vay was a passable engineer and a fairly good pilot, especially with large vessels. Tevran was also a keen fencer, and he managed to pass some of this skill onto Emeon.

Character History

Early years

The most prized of Tevran's ships was Sliver, a Foray-class blockade runner, thoroughly redesigned to serve the merchant on his favourite escapades in search for lost art beyond the Transitory Mist. As years went by, Emeon started accompanying his father on those journeys, gradually spending more time onboard and on distant worlds than in the Hapan Space.

Just before Emeon turned seven, he discovered, much to his surprise and anxiety, that he can sense the emotional "memories" of some of the items he touched. This ability, called "psychometry", was inherited by the boy from his father, who possessed it to a small extend. The genetic potential was later developed, half intentionally, by Ryae's training focused around sensitivity and awareness - the cornerstones of all arts. The gift proved most valuable when the father and son travelled in search for new works of art to add to Trevan's collection.

Royal Hapan Navy

Emeon's decision to join the Royal Hapan Navy was not taken well by his parents, to say the least. Both of them had long envisioned him to establish and expand the family fortune, not to mention the fact that a service on warships meant years of separation. Emeon was, however, firm in his decision. He bade his mother, father and siblings (brother Urian and sister Hayari) goodbye and set his feet on his own way among the stars.

However, Emeon's service to the Crown was not to last. Having worked both in the Navy and in the Ministry of Industry, he suddenly returned to Lorell for his father's funeral and, shortly after, left the borders of the Consortium onboard Sliver, which Trevan had left him in hist last will.

The monastery of Zolan I

After a period of wandering the galaxy, a sense of overwhelming emptiness led him to lock himself in an Ashlanian monastery on Zolan I. After studying and meditating for several months, he left the desert world with a new sense of clarity and purpose.

Imprial Service

Finally, after years of voyages, he has made the decision to join the service of the Emperor. This path began for him among the towering, stone buildings of ancient Prakith…

Trevan Vay's most precious ship, the Sliver, remains a testimony to the man's love for rediscovering beauty and craftsmanship. The Foray-class blockade runner hsa been redesigned, sacrifising cargo areas to make space for a workshop, a small laboratory, a private study and a cosy display room, a bit grandiosely dubbed „The Gallery”. Although the ship's crew was disbanded after Trevan's death, the first officer, Youanna Ari, decided to follow Emeon on his journey. In her own words, she was intent on making sure „The boy did not harm THE vessel”.
