Early Life
The Salty Slicehound, Bulk Freighter of the Drexil Family
Calix Drexil was born to Daxin and Nira Drexil in Y 1 D 3. He spent most of his life on his father's freighter named the Salty Slicehound trading various goods from and to Corellia. Through his travels it is on one particular shipment of goods that would define his early career to come.
On a trip to the Mytaranor sector in Y 15, the Saly Slicehound was interdicted by an Imperial patrol. Failing to answer hails, Daxin Drexil attempted to escape leading to a chase before being run to ground in space near Messert. The ship's cargo was seized revealing that Daxin Drexil was a smuggler for the Rebellion. This particular cargo comprised of weaponry banned by the Galactic Empire and was bound for a small, but growing, rebel base somewhere on the surface. Daxin Drexil was arrested and later sentenced to hard labor where he passed away. As to Calix, he was spared due to his age and left to fend for himself on the planet Messert. This is where Calix, in his misguided youth, fell in with the Rebellion.
Misguided Youth, a Rebel
Rebel Operation, Date Unknown
Calix, despite his youth, retained much of the skills that his father taught him and this proved valuable to the Rebellion on Messert due to the need for those with skill in flying transports and other larger ships that require skill due to the decreased maneuverability common in such ships. Though Calix didn't distinguish himself he did prove a capable pilot and participated in numerous operation in a support or logistical capacity. It would not be until he joined New Republic that Calix would find himself truly coming into his own and show his skill as a capital ship commander.
Career in the New Republic
The rebel cell on Messert that Calix was a part of was not originally part of the New Republic, although aligned, the cell was cautious about joining. Calix, however, eventually grew tired of the lack of recognition and the muddled legality that was daily life in the Rebellion and in Y 20, with a new call for able officers, Calix joined the New Republic Academy as a Cadet for the Republic Navy.
Calix Drexil as a Lt. Commander in the Former New Republic
Calix served ably in the New Republic Navy earning himself various promotions reaching the rank of Lt. Commander in Y 20. However, the cracks began to show in the New Republic as factional arguments ensued culminating in Chief of State Galen Darksoul's Coup which seceded many of the New Republic's assets and territory to the Galactic Empire. Shaken to the core, it became clear to Calix Drexil that the tide has turned and that the New Republic could not restore order to the Galaxy. With age, comes wisdom and Calix began talks with a counterpart in the Galactic Empire to defect.
Defection to the Galactic Empire
In Y 21, Calix Drexil initiated his escape plan. He gathered classified documents of past and present operations that he was assigned to and boarded his personal Fire-Class Quasar, Starscream, and set course for the nearest Imperial held world of Polith. With Rebel Security forces on his tail, he made his way and arrived safely. Although he would have to start from the bottom in order to prove his loyalty, he knew that there was no other way to bring order to the Galaxy.
