Character History

Born in an unknown planet on the Corellian Sector in -12, Mor Lak is the third and last son of Steren Pell and Petra Lak, both of human descent. While very caring and protective of their children, their careers as a Imperial Army phycisian and logistics officer respectively forced them to live most of their lives away from their kids. All of the Lak children (The family tradition dictated that they had to take their mother's last name) were sent to a prestigious military boarding school in the planet of Chandrila, one of the Core Worlds not long after their birth.

Sheltered from the conflict that was breeding along the Galaxy, Mor Lak and his siblings lived a peaceful and, with the exception of a few exceptional episodes, rather uneventful life. In compliance with their parents wishes, they were all raised under the Imperial virtues of duty, discipline and order and it was one of their mentors, Professor Rolann Jart, who instructed them on the true meaning of those words. It was him who showed them the atrocities commited by the ever growing rebel groups in demand of their so-called "freedom" and, slowly but surely, one idea started to grow in the younglings' mind: To enlist in the Imperial Army, in order to protect the people and values of the Empire against any aggresion, both foreign and domestic.

But his dreams almost came to an end in the most unexpected way the day before his 18th birthday. What could have been one of the best moments of his life, became one of the worst: He had been celebrating the victory of his favorite Bolo Ball team, the Chandrilan Champions, in a local sports cantina, when disaster occured. A mentally deranged fan wearing the colors of an opposing team, the Corulag Crows, broke in and, without warning, set off a chemical gas bomb he had strapped to his chest under his clothes. With eleven dead and dozens injured, including the academy's dea and some of the finest students, it appeared that the school had no option but to close its doors.

Mor's situation was not good either. It was discovered that the bomb had been filled with a powerful neurotoxin that not even a enormous amount of Bacta could counteract and, even though the youngest of the Laks had been fortunate enough to avoid death, he was also told that he would not be able to walk for many years.

Now that it was impossible for him to enlist and ever achieve his lifelong dream and continue with his family's legacy, the spacer adolescent thought he had little reason to live anymore. It seems likely that he would have given up on his life, had it not been for the intervention of his past mentor, Professor Jart. It was him who had saved the school from closing after rising to the position of Academy Dean. It was him who offered Mor an position as an assistant teacher and helped him get his life together. But most importantly, it was him who saved his student's life when he was at his worst, by teaching him the most important lesson of all: "Dreams are nothing without determination to fight for them". Almost ten years later, after recovering most of his mobility, he was finally accepted as a recruit into the Imperial Academy, with his ideal of protecting the Empire's values being closer now than ever.
