Role
Kuat Drive Yards is one of the most famous companies in the Galaxy, as well as one of the oldest. The company was founded on the world of Kuat by a group of human aristocrats known as “the Ten” during the early years of the Galactic Republic. These merchants, led by the Kuat Family, joined together with the intent to create the largest, most efficient shipyard in the galaxy. It was “the Ten” that constructed the first of the many orbital shipyard complexes that would later ring the entire planet of Kuat.[1]
History
After early difficulties, the shipyard grew rapidly in both size and prestige, gaining a reputation as a first-class shipbuilder. Then the years of expansion began, no longer content with just being a first-class constructor, Kuat Drive Yards wanted to become the biggest shipyard in the galaxy. Through determination and a predatory ambition to be the best KDY began taking over smaller companies, merging their assets with their own. Five hundreds years ago, the dream that had started with “the Ten” became reality; Kuat Drive Yards entered the select elite of biggest and best shipbuilders in the galaxy.
Today Kuat Drive Yards and its subsidiaries are renowned as the designer of the wedge shaped hull that became the trade mark of the Imperial Navy’s capital ships and allowed to focus all firepower on the front arc of the ship. Designs well known throughout the Galaxy, like : the Acclamator Assault ship, the Victory class Star Destroyer, the Venator class Star Destroyer and off course KDY’s most prized design the Imperator or Imperial Class Star Destroyer. This last design later even culminated into the design for the Executor Star Dreadnought also known as the Super Star Destroyer. There are also smaller warship designs like the Nebulon-B Escort Frigate and the Lancer class Frigate. Finally for the private ship owner who just wishes to fly the best, KDY provides lighter vessels like the FireSpray patrol craft and the Cloakshape Fighter. [2]
Branches
Kuat Drive Yards is composed of 3 main branches. Industry, Security and Explorations and the Kuat Council.
Industry
Dealing with production is the Industry branch, led by Director Amaratha assisted by Director Harma.
Security
Protecting the whole of Kuat is the Security Branch, led by Lt. General Melkor.
Kuat Council
Managing and leading the whole of Kuat Drive Yards, as well as Kuat System Engineering are the Kuat council. Members include, Lord Kuat, Technician Keithel, Assistant Technician Ventidius, President Gorsceu and Vice President Hashu. As well as Director Amaratha, Director Redow, Director Lizzar, Director Harma, Director Jarromael, General Fox and Deputy Director Arlos. LT. General Melkor.[2]
