Arturus Goth was once Second-in-command of the Empire as Regent of the Throne until his resignation from Imperial service due to a dispute over how to deal with a situation with Kuat Drive Yards. He threatened the Emperor with his letter of resignation believing he could coerce him into submitting to his will. The Emperor did not however submit to Goth's threat and instead accepted his resignation, thus ending the rein and tight-grip Goth had over the Empire and it's many competent officers.
