Coruscant The planet of Coruscant is geographically located approximately 10,000 light-years away from the galactic core and has the popular misconception of being the closest planet to the galactic core. For millennia, its proximity to the galactic core has resulted in the planet playing host as the galactic capital since the formation of the Old Republic. Coruscant's most famous feature, however, is the fact it is a ecumenopolis; the entire planet is now amassed into one city. It currently serves as the capital planet of the Galactic Empire. Archive
