Ensign Kryx Arkane (b. Year -1 Day 114) is a Human male born and raised on Coruscant in the early days of the Galactic Empire. He currently serves as a junior officer in the Imperial Navy.

Early Life

Transitioning into a New Order

Kryx Arkane was born on the planet of Coruscant to Jessmar and Desdak Arkane, around 1 year before the rise of the Galactic Empire. Being alive during the times of the Galactic Republic that ruled before the Empire, Kryx's parents usually told him what they remember about the final days of the Republic. Most of the time they'd talk about how corrupt and greedy the Senate was and how the government was no longer functioning properly to support the Republic. A hostile group of Force users also attempted a coup upon the seat of power, but failed. Kryx was told that shortly afterwards, the Empire was finally formed out of the failure of the Republic. Throughout several periods of peace and unrest during the Empire's reign, the Arkane family's support of the government has remained generally strong.

Arkane Corona Cantina

Kryx was specifically born and raised in the CoCo Town District of Galactic City. His family owned one of the smaller yet popular eating establishments of that district- Arkane Corona Cantina, also known as ACC. The ACC was a small building that served as a cantina with a bar, as well as a small area for dining and also a lounge area for customers to be informed on Galactic News or sports. Jessmar and Desdak had hired a few friends to help around and work in the cantina as it was just beginning to grow. Once Kryx reached the proper age (at 10 years old), he began working in the ACC with his parents, as it was a family business. Soon enough, Kryx was joined by 2 younger brothers: Tremel (b. Y 2) and Bremek (b. Y 4). When the 2 of them reached the proper age, they began working at the cantina as well, and ACC became a well-known establishment in the surrounding area, earning much profits.

Living in Galactic City

Albeit the ACC earning lots of profits, most of the money went to maintaining and sometimes refining the cantina, in order to keep the customers and more profits coming in. This does not go to say the Arkane family was very poor, however. As a middle class family the Arkanes lived in a decent low-rise apartment in CoCo Town, not a high class apartment but satisfactory enough to live as well as the majority of Imperial citizens in the middle class. The location however was perfect, within walking distance of the ACC, as well as a station where Kryx could take a shuttle to the Inner City to receive an education.

Education

Despite Kryx not having much experience besides working in a cantina, he performed remarkably well in school, acknowledged to be an "academically bright kid". He also proved to be quite the physical student, though not the best. His favorite class outside of academics was self-defense and unarmed combat (An unusual course for young Imperial students at a public school but it was mandated by the government). Kryx was a tough student and put much effort into mastering the course. He unfortunately did not perform well all of the time, sometimes failing in certain areas. However Kryx's determination and the Stoic mentality his father taught him helped him pull through and pass the course within the Top 10%.

Looking Towards the Future

In order to meet quotas with the cantina as well as maintain a decent life at home, the Arkanes occasionally received a small amount of monetary aid from the Empire itself, as the ACC appeared to be a favorite spot for Imperials from all areas of the government, including the Armed Forces. This led to Kryx being exposed to the opportunity of serving in the Empire. He often engaged in conversations with Imperials who came by, though he took precedence with members of the Imperial Navy (Kryx enjoyed watching Star Destroyers and TIE Fighters soar over the skyline of Coruscant, dreaming that he could command his own Star Destroyer some day). Many Imperial officers took notice of his skills, encouraging him to join up, informing him of the advantages and benefits of being an officer. Once he had become old enough to join, Kryx announced to his family of his intentions to serve the Empire. His parents wished him much luck, proud of their firstborn about to take on a successful career in the Empire. Soon after, Kryx went to the nearest recruting station and signed up to join as soon as possible, ready to begin his next stage of life.

Serving the Empire

The Road to Becoming an Imperial Officer

On Year 17, Day 126, Kryx registered for Imperial Basic Training, and, after being transported to the Imperial Academy on Prakith, he began training as a Recruit under the tutelage of his Training Officer, Lieutenant Junior Grade Kal Eysar. The training was difficult at first but with the helpful mind of Eysar, Recruit Arkane managed to survive Basic Training for its 1-2 week long duration. At the end, Arkane graduated from the Imperial Academy on Year 17, Day 142.

Transferring to the Navy

Shortly after graduation, Arkane was given the important decision of choosing the branch he would serve in, and almost immediately chose to serve in the Navy, as was his goal ever since he made the choice to serve. Arkane was then accepted into the Imperial Navy and promoted to the rank of Ensign [O-1].
