Rebellion Collapses

The Rebel Government began a serious crackdown after corporate mogul Adam Flynn took control. With the government divided between those who support Flynn and those who oppose him, the citizens are caught in the middle.

Republica(INS) - Since the last Soldier's Journal issue, we have witnessed an implosion inside the rebellion. While this was not surprising to the INS political analysis team, how it happened was what surprised everyone. The reason being was that it was the most obvious outcome. The Rebel-Sorosuub merger was not as cozy as their news agencies reported. The current leader of the New Republic, Prince Adam. A. Flynn refers to the mistreatment of several ex-SSC members as one of the reasons behind his coup. He intends to purge the rebellion of corruption, and has already made great strides in that direction. Currently 3 Senators, (one of them a Jedi master) and a Presidential candidate have been arrested, while Flynn is currently tracking down the rest. IHC informs us he plans to kill them all. He has taken command of a large amount of Rebel assets. There is little the confused and scared members that haven’t sided with Flynn can do. Flynn owns their holosite, and they are even forced to meet on their logistics channel because he has administrative privileges on their meeting channel. The rebels speak of how the Empire is weakening, when they cannot even access their own holonet without the approval of the coup leaders. According to reports, the officers who have not sided with Flynn’s cadre are in a panic as they attempt to calm down enlisted that have just recently finished their academy classes. Both officers and enlisted have been confined to their own ships for their safety. The fate of those still in their academy classes when the coup began is unknown. Our sources indicate that Flynn may have also been reacting to popular outcry after the execution of Chiss Ascendancy Chancellor Isoldor Storm. INS reports that support for the rebel government had gone to an all-time low after the Sorosuub merger by the population of rebel affiliated worlds and the galaxy at-large. Not that Storm was seen a favorable light by rebel citizens, the real issue was that the rebel government had funded the radicals who had taken over the Chiss Ascendancy was but the latest example of incompetent leadership. The citizens were also outraged that their government would make yet another deal with pirates, after Eidola had used their purchase of Black Sun crime syndicate against them. In a twist of irony, IHC informs us that Flynn will set up Black Sun as an independent faction after stepping down as temporary leader of the New Republic, depriving the rebels of the resources and the worlds that faction now controls. Also, he has sold some NR resources and territory to the NR affiliates. What this says about his influence over those NR affiliates remains to be seen. What is certain is that we at the INS will keep you updated as this story develops.
