Katharyn Blackstone is new to the Empire. She recently graduated the academy with a 90% Average, and now works in the Imperial Navy

Early Years

Katharyn was the daughter of a young woman and an up and coming freighter captain. Her father, who she has never met, spent long hours in space, flying his own small craft in an effort to realize his dream of owning his own shipping company. When Katharyn was just two months old though, her father's ideas crashed around him, when his ship was stolen from dock by a local crime cartel. It was later discovered near an asteroid belt outside of Corellia, smashed to pieces, with numerous carbon scoring marks along the hull. Her father, crushed. Fled, and has yet to be seen or heard of again.

Katharyn's mother did the best she could with her daughter, but after her father left, things became harder and harder. Corellia is not a kind place to the poor. Her mother did whatever work she could, often sewing or waitressing. She died when Katharyn was six, raped and murdered by a local street gang on her way home from work.

After that, life became even harder. Katharyn spent the next several years of her life living on the streets, begging for her next meal. She would sleep wherever she could find a dry, warm place (usually near an exhaust vent, or in a box.) and try to live day by day. Things began to change when she met a shuttle pilot. He worked for a small company that ferried individuals from place to place across the galaxy. He saw Katharyn's disheveled state, and desperate life, and took pity on her.

Learning to Pilot

The man took Katharyn on as an apprentice, and a cabin-girl. She worked long hours, serving and taking care of the various guests on board the shuttle, and in her spare time, she would sit and watch the men in the cockpit at work, learning everything she could about flying. She already knew, at the age of eleven, that flying was to be her life.

She spent the next several years learning all she could, and soon, she was flying as well. Her and the pilot began to share shifts, and he would often split his paycheck with her, as she never formally became part of the business. She knew though, that she was taking from his livelihood, and possibly his family, although she had never asked about it.

She knew things had to change.

The Academy

Katharyn left the shuttle company, and the pilot who had helped her so much. She spent several months wandering from place to place, seeking a job. She eventually enlisted with the Empire. She spent time in the Academy, learning about the Empire, and the Galaxy, before finally graduating and taking her place in the galaxy as a member of the Imperial Navy.

Today

Katharyn is now twenty-two, and has begun her search for her place in the galaxy, funded by the small amount of money she saved during her days on the shuttle. She currently serves in the Imperial Navy as a Crewman, and hopes to one day work her way up to command of a ship.
