Role
Kuat Drive Yards is one of the most famous companies in the Galaxy, as well as one of the oldest. The Yards are also among the largest military shipbuilding corporations in the Galaxy.
History
The company was founded on the world of Kuat by a group of human aristocrats known as “the Ten” during the early years of the Galactic Republic. These merchants, led by the Kuat Family, joined together with the intent to create the largest, most efficient shipyard in the galaxy. It was “the Ten” that constructed the first of the many orbital shipyard complexes that would later ring the entire planet of Kuat.[1]
After early difficulties, the shipyard grew rapidly in both size and prestige, gaining a reputation as a first-class shipbuilder. Then the years of expansion began, no longer content with just being a first-class constructor, Kuat Drive Yards wanted to become the biggest shipyard in the galaxy. Through determination and a predatory ambition to be the best KDY began taking over some smaller companies, merging their assets with their own. Five hundreds years ago, the dream that had started with “the Ten” became reality; Kuat Drive Yards entered some of the best shipbuilders in the galaxy.[2]
Organisation
Kuat Drive Yards is composed of 2 main branches: "Industrial" and "Security". Further there is the Kuat Council that provides leadership to Kuat Drive Yards and the affiliated company Kuat Systems Engineering.
The Industrial Branch
The bigger of the 2 main branches, the Industrial branch deals with production of ships as well as development of KDY's holdings. It's led by Technician Azhrarn Amaratha assisted by Assistant Technician Ashura Harma.
The Security Branch
Protecting Kuat Drive Yards assets is the Security Branch, led by Lt. General Melkor.
The Kuat Council
Managing and leading the whole of Kuat Drive Yards, as well as Kuat System Engineering is the Kuat Council. Members include: Lord Kuat, Technician Amaratha, Ass.Technician Harms, KSE President Pietre Henimun, KSE Vice-President Gorsceu, Executive Director Arlos, Director Keithel, Director Redow, Director Jarromael and Lt. General Melkor.
