Vuples Krei'ger-Kalen

Biography

Before Alor`ad

Alor`ad was born of Lady Astor Kalen, a politically active Hapan noblewoman, and Fox Krei'ger, a Mandalorian outcast - quite the odd couple.

Fox Krei'ger was a high ranking member of the Krei'ger clan on the planet Mandalore with a vast history of traditions and customs. However, after falling in love with a rival clan's daughter and their subsequent forbiddence of marriage, they planned to run away together. Unfortunately, before they could meet where they had arranged to, to escape Mandalore, her father killed her in the heat of an argument. Ridden with hatred for his own people and chaotic depression he fled his homeworld, vowing never to return. Instead, he put his abilities to use as a bounty hunter and smuggler throughout the galaxy, sometimes working for the Empire to bring down some of the earliest rebels. On a routine pass through the newly emerged Hapes system his ship was captured as a suspected pirate vessel and, given the Hapan policies towards piracy, he was sentenced to execution.

A noblewoman, named Lady Astora Kalen, came to his aid using her political power. She was convinced by his armour, fearlessness in the face of death and charming personality, that he was not a pirate. Naturally, upon his release he fell for her and over the month or so that it took for him to be granted clearance to leave the planet, his love only intensified. They married and had a son, Vulpes Krei'ger-Kalen. However, they spoke of him as Alor`ad Cuun, literally meaning 'Our Captain' in Mando'a, a language his father would familiarise him with from an early age. Little did he know at the time that this would be the name that he would take into his Imperial Career after departing from Hapes.

Infancy

In his early years, Alor`ad attended the best schools Hapes had to offer but soon grew to have a great admiration for his father, and would often join him on what his father considered to be less dangerous bounty collections. When he was at home he excelled in his studies but, even though he seemed to do so with relative ease, he was always more enthralled when away with his father doing more practical work.

A farewell to his mother

Teenage Years

This cycle of understanding and learning that had occurred during his childhood continued throughout his teens, much to his mother's discomfort. She thought Alor`ad should remain home, and engage in a political career like herself. His father, on the other hand, was extremely proud of his son and of his interests in his work - action and combat, after all, being what the Mandalorians live for.

Whilst on one of his stints at home in his late teens, word reached him that his father had been betrayed and executed by a Rodian smuggler, who was subsequently protected by rebels. He told his mother he'd be leaving with almost immediate effect, something which she opposed greatly. After a few weeks of bickering and fighting, he decided enough was enough and packed up his things and left. His mother made contact after he'd left home, explaining that should he return home, it should only be once married to a girl of proper heritage or suitable class to accommodate the House of Kalen. After that, she severed ties with her son. He went on to assume the shortened name of Alor`ad Cuun.

Joining the Empire

Alor decided that his future was 110% committed to the Galactic Empire and it's Emperor - the enemies of the very rebels who sheltered his father's killer. He quickly became a fanatic loyalist of the highest caliber and, needing no propaganda whatsoever to shift his mind, signed up for the Imperial Academy.

His application was accepted and when he arrived at the Academy he was entered into class along with students of a similar and equally capable brainpower, such as Michael Korleeon, Sephi Trammer and of course, Nixon Spears, whom he was to become solid friends with during his time in the Academy. He was assigned to Lieutenant Junior Grade Galdarzz Aalon, the Academy's Deputy Provost General, which made him ever confident throughout his time there. He also met Command Flight Officer Vrogard Delahon during his time at the Academy, whom he became great friends with after they both discovered one another could speak Mando'a, a friendship which was strengthened even after the Academy.

Although his eagerness sometimes caused his exam results to suffer, he never let it throw him off his target, but ended up Graduating the Academy with an 87% overall score, thus only earning a basic grade.

Cadet Alor`ad Cuun in service

Early Imperial Career

Upon graduation, he joined the Imperial Navy as a Cadet, and was more than proud to do so. He also attained the friendship of Mark Hadrian who, despite his non-honourary graduation from the Academy, was impressed with Alor`ad's potential Imperial career. After showing promising writing skills to Editor-in-Chief of the Imperial News Bureau Josef DeLaurel, he was accepted into the department on a fast-track basis as a Junior Writer. Seizing the opportunity which came with this position, he quickly established a strong commitment to Imperial News and after writing an article on Captain Daelis Stanov, was promoted inside the News Bureau to Correspondant. When his mother read of his early success, being somewhat impressed by her son, she re-opened negotiations with Alor`ad and issued him a letter informing him that her sister Jennifer Alfan (Nee Kalen), had been her sister, and he should establish contact with her son, Sebastian, whom she had not met. Upon doing so, it became apparent that Sebastian Alfan was half-Chiss. He informed his mother, and she forbode him to take an active role in the House of Alfan. After impressing his Commanding Officer with both active service in the Imperial News Bureau and the Imperial Navy - during the operations regarding his fleet and collaboration with other fleets, he was duly promoted to the rank of Crewman.
