The Kathol Saints are a professional Bolo-Ball team, currently based on the planet of Merson in the Stenness Node system.
Foundation
In the Kathol Sector, Boloball was becoming more publicized following the conclusion of the Old Republic's Holonet Expansion Program. With more Boloball games being broadcasted, and public interest in the sport growing throughout the Sector, several leagues began to form. On the planet of Kathol several groups of workers from the Kathol Mining Corporation began to play amongst themselves, quickly forming their own "mini-league" in Year -19.
These miners would later form the "Mining Saints" Boloball Team as an inter-planetary league was formed by the Government during the middle of Year -17. Whilst they were still an amateur team, playing in an amateur league, the team received funding and support from the KMC; who used the team for publicity purposes. With the large support given to the team, the "Mining Saints" won the league by four points and began classing themselves as "Semi-Professionals". Boloball players were moved from their mining jobs and now trained full-time in preparation for the next season.
The next season however would result in the "Mining Saints" being renamed and entered into a professional league. With an ever-growing interest in BoloBall, the Kathol Sector Government formed the Kathol BoloBall Association to run the four Professional Leagues that would play throughout the Sector. As the winners of the Kathol Planetary League, the "Mining Saints" were named the official team of Kathol. This lead to the team's name change to "Kathol Saints" with the KMC being allowed to have their logo on the kit for five years free of charge.
Over the next few years, the Kathol Saints developed and enhanced their team as they played in the Kathol League 1, the highest BoloBall league. During this time, the foundation for the team's Golden Age was created.
Golden Ages
The Kathol Saints would win their first League in Year 1, a youthful side displaying talents that hadn't been expected from the formerly mid-table side. More wins came to the Saints, as they won the Kathol League Trophy in Year 2 and coming second in the Kathol League 1. Things looked doomed for failure as the manager, Rik Inosital, resigned his posting and joined the Coruscant Athletic as the Sports Director. His assistant would get the managers role.
In his first full season as manager, he won the League title in addition to the Tamerin Competition Cup in Year 3. The good form continued into Year 4, with the Saints gaining another League title. Form began to dip following the team developed a serious bout of the Balmorra Flu; causing the team to loose many of their first-team players throughout the season. Thankfully for fans, the team came back the following season to win the League once again in Year 6.
With players beginning to age and the on-going conflicts in the Outer Rim causing many disruptions, the Saints won their last league title in Year 8. The win, which made the Saints the first to win 5 league titles, allowed the side to include the "Kathol Crown" in their badge as a sign of their achievement. They would not be able to play with their new logo however, following the collapse of the Imperial Kathol Treaty and the increasing hold of the Krath Dynasty on the Kathol Government.
As the Krath Dynasty gained complete control of the Sector; the BoloBall league collapsed and the Kathol Saints evicted from their home stadium.
Relocation
An Imperial Governor, formerly part of the Imperial Advisory Council to the Kathol Republic, offered the Kathol Saints a place on an Imperial planet in addition to inclusion to the Imperial BoloBall Leagues. The Saints quickly agreed and the team moved to the planet of Merson, in the Stenness Node Sector. Playing on the hot planet in a climate-controlled stadium; the Saints struggled under the ownership of the Imperial Governor and barely remained in the Lower Leagues.
The same result occurred in Year 9, with the team scrapping to a play-off position as the aging players barely managed to match the high standards of the Imperial teams. It was decided that the Saints would be sold and the backroom staff changed to modernize the club. Greg Black-Granger, a former resident of Kathol-turned-Imperial, bought the club and injected much needed money into the Saints.
With the Year 10 BoloBall League beginning, the Saints slumped to two defeats before finding their form and raising to the middle of the league table.
