Rell Ardus is an officer within the Imperial Army.

Early life

Rell was born on Corellia into a small working family. His father - Derryn Ardus - owned and worked at a small vehicle and droid repair shop. The business failed drastically and the Ardus family, without anyone else to fall back on, found itself in debt to a small Corellian offshoot of a larger Hutt Cartel, based in the Outer Rim. Over time, it became obvious that the loans were not sufficient to get the business back on track, and that the interest payments were excessively high. Desperate, Derryn Ardus sold up everything he had and purchased a cheap haggered Rho-class Shuttle, the plan was to escape Corellia and start anew halfway across the Galaxy, somewhere they would be completely unknown. The plan failed when the Cartel arranged for a small group of bounty hunters to stow aboard in the cargo department and hijack the freighter while in hyperspace, Derryn Ardus and Ashaiya Ardus were thrown out of the airlock and Rell himself was taken as a slave by Vict Trenor, a Rodian bounty hunter. He was 14 years of age.

His life as a slave lasted only a short time. Vict Trenor took Rell to Tatooine, with the intention of selling him in a slave market, Rell earned his freedom when his tenacity and resistance to being a slave impressed Josiah Wan, a local crime lord, who offered Rell his freedom and a job if he would shoot his slaver. Rell carried out the task without hesitation. After earning his freedom he worked for Wan for a period of around 12 months, terminating his employment by terminating his employer. Following this Ardus began a small campaign against slavers and the crime element of the Outer Rim, conducting what was akin to guerrilla warfare across numerous different planets and locales and taking out many low and mid-level criminals involved in the cartels. However after an increasing number of near-shaves and the realisation that for every criminal he killed, two more would take its place, Rell decided he would need to be a part of something greater in order to achieve victory. His conclusion led him to the Imperial Academy, where he signed up in the hopes of becoming an Imperial Officer, and thus saving the greater force of order and law in the Galaxy.

Rell was tutored by Jano Baskardi while in the Imperial Academy. After a rocky start involving a mess brawl and a beating by Imperial Military Police, Rell learnt to control his aggression and channel it into his studies, scoring a 97% on his volume one exams and successfully passing his volume two practicums, graduating with honours. He recieved his first taste of military action at the Academy, when he thwarted an Ambush intended to eliminate his patrol vehicle and successfully terminated a rebel AT team.

After graduating the Imperial Academy Ardus was promoted to Second Lieutenant and assigned to his first command. Details of his assignment remains restricted information.
