Biography

Amne was born in Year -8 to Lydia Zailyn, a xenobiologist at the University of Lorell. Lydia lived with her widowed best friend Gwenae Raleda (a professor of the Hapan language) to assist in raising Gwenae's daughter, Tariogh; likewise, Gwenae became a second mother to Amne, whose father was unknown. Although they hadn't intended for the arrangement to be long-lived, it remained so until Tariogh went offworld for university and then Gwenae remarried when Amne was fifteen.

After turning eighteen, Amne's ambitions took her outside of the Hapes Cluster. Wanting to see the galaxy and contribute to something bigger than herself, Amne enlisted in the Imperial Army. She attended the Imperial Academy, graduated with honors, and immediately started her first tour of service. Finding herself part of a minority, surrounded by men - working with them as her peers and even her commanders - was a culture shock for Amne. She integrated well into her legion and ended up befriending many of the other soldiers.

Personality

Growing up in a matriarchal home, Amne had limited exposure to men apart from the gentleman callers or business associates of her mothers. Amne eventually followed her mothers' examples, having numerous liaisons with men. She only truly emotionally and romantically connects with women, although she has recently developed some friendships with her fellow soldiers. Amne defaults to the feminine pronoun, but follows the Hapan tradition of referring to her ships as male.
