Guinar, 11th Emperor is a well-known painting by Imperial artist Viar Lyin depicting the moments following the coronation of Emperor Guinar Ndengin in Y12. It is an oil on canvas of the Imperial period. It is given additional significance as the last work by master artisan Viar Lyin who'd passed away only days after presenting the Emperor with his work.
Background
On Day 335, Year 12, the Imperial Historical Society, continuing a tradition began during the reign of Emperor Cherokee, commissioned Coruscani native Viar Lyin to paint the official portrait of Emperor Ndengin in celebration of his ascension to the Imperial Throne.
Known to have been ill at the time of the request, Viar considered this work to not only have been his contribution to the continuance of the Imperial Art Movement, but also his most cherished act in the service of the Empire.
