The Montari Family is an upper middle class Coruscanti family; its members have served in the old Republic as well as the Galactic Empire in several branches including, but not limited to, the Imperial Army, Imperial Navy, Regional Government, and the Imperial Security Bureau. The current patriarch and head of the family is Khrelan Montari, proprietor of the Brewed Awakening cantina.

History

Origins

The origins of the Montari family can be traced back to the Galactic Republic; as far as can be determined, the Montaris have always lived on or near Coruscant. The oldest known Montari, Regulus, was said to have fled the Outer Rim due to its economic instability; he decided to travel as far coreward as he could. His battered ship set down on Coruscant after it could travel no further. Wanting to leave his troubled past behind, Regulus changed his surname to Montari and sold his ship to the first person interested. He used the last of his money and the profits from his ship to open a general store and lived the rest of his life as a shopkeeper.

After this point, several years of family history were lost. The Montaris lived average lives with varying professions and generally kept to themselves. Khrelan, the oldest living Montari, opened a cantina known as the Brewed Awakening. It was not meant to be a military bar, but soldiers and sailors always seemed to find their way to the cantina. The cantina was also a very common meeting point for traders from all across the galaxy. However, after the stories his parents told him while he was growing up, Khrelan had a mild dislike of non-humans. While there were no rules against non-humans from visiting, they were generally overcharged and given less than excellent service. As Khrelan got older, after the creation of the Empire, and shortly before the birth of his first two grandsons, the Montari patriarch became more tolerant of non-humans. He stopped overcharging them, and gave them nearly the same respect he gave to his own race.

Shortly after opening the Brewed Awakening, Khrelan met Araime Rugali. They were wed after only a few months, and had two sons within their first two years of marriage. The first, Darien, would go on to become a minor politician on Coruscant, while his younger brother would travel to Tatooine in order to live outside of Imperial jurisdiction. Both children attended school on Coruscant, and then attended university.

It was at university that the Montari brothers met their wives to be. Darien met Celeste Ruvator during an introductory psychology course. Celeste was a pre-medical student, and would go on to become a trauma surgeon on Coruscant. Darien and Celeste were married the week after Celeste's graduation. They moved into a medium apartment and began their careers.

Vorien attended university to become a chemist. While taking an advanced course in intense radiation, Vorien was approached by a sultry woman from Tatooine. The two fell in love, though Rynn had an ulterior motive. Rynn used her relationship with Vorien to convince him that the newly created Empire was a detriment to the galaxy. She spun great stories of deceit and corruption that lured Vorien's love-stricken mind. Rynn convinced Vorien to taint the university's water supply in an attempt to poison the Class A population that studied there. After realizing what he'd done, Vorien fled with Rynn to Tatooine to continue their lives away from the Empire. For his actions, Vorien was disowned from the Montari family, and has had very little contact with his parents, his brother, or his brother's family since.

Khrelan, after retiring from daily management of his cantina, purchased a gorgeous summer home in the Manarai Mountains. He named the summer home Montari Manor. While many members of the family spend their time off planet, all of them agree that Coruscant is their home.

Aspharr Montari (born Year -11 Day 73) is a First Lieutenant currently serving as an Agent in the Imperial Security Bureau, a subdivision of COMPNOR. He is the brother of Tyrren Montari and the brother-in-law of Ciatri Montari. He is known as a former professional Grav-ball player, and, a competitive and talented swoop racer on Coruscant.

Tyrren Montari (born Year -11 Day 73) is a Captain in the Imperial Army and the fourth and current Commander of the 6th Brigade of the Imperial Army's 3rd Legion. As a Second Lieutenant, Montari served as 6th Brigade's fourth Executive Officer. Currently, he also serves as a Military Intelligence Officer for the Department of Military Intelligence, and as a Recruiter for the Imperial Centre for Recruitment. Montari assumed his current assignment on Y14 D4.

Ciatri Montari (born Year -8 Day 42) is a Coruscanti female, currently serving as a Prefect in the Regional Government. She is the wife of Tyrren Montari and the sister-in-law of Aspharr Montari.
