INB (CORUSCANT) — A brief statement was released today by the Galactic Empire in response to the latest claims from the Zann Consortium of a 'critical blow' to the Empire. In a standard press packet addressing several incidental topics throughout the Army and released by the Office of the Lord General, it was confirmed that a Zann operative had stolen equipment from one of the armories aboard the Legion command ship, Bastion. The thief was a newly commissioned officer of the Imperial Army who was granted access to a minor cache of small-arms, whereupon she was able to move a small number of them off the command vessel. The statement listed the total items stolen as:
- 136x E-11
- 2x Bacta Patch
- 31x Stuncuffs
- 2x Macrobinoculars
- 3x Frame Charges
- 3x Stormtrooper Helmet
- 5x Stormtrooper Armor
- 2x Stormtrooper Belt
- 2x Snowtrooper Backpack
Whilst acknowledged as an unacceptable breach of security, the statement highlighted there was only a single point of failure in this particular incident. The tiered security system limits access to equipment stores, which is why the interloper was only able to secure equipment worth a couple hundred thousand credits. The Lord General's statement noted that "The fact that Zann has to embellish a minor theft to a feat of epic proportions because they are unable to achieve a larger, legitimate strike, only speaks to the efficacy of the Empire's ongoing security arrangements. In this event they were unable to steal enough equipment to properly outfit even a single squad of soldiers."
A 1st Legion spokesman commented that its operations remained unhindered and replacement weapons have already arrived from the Resource Allocations Division (RADE). "Despite the grandiose statements from Zann, which we really have just come to view as fatuously banal, theft continues to remain exceptionally rare in the Galactic Empire. When a mere shelf of equipment is lost from a Legion command ship with thousands upon thousands of weapons stored aboard, it has little impact on the Legion itself. At least this time they remembered to take the equipment out of the Empire's secure areas before claiming they had stolen it."
