Teveoji Var is a Commander and INSC Pilot in the Imperial Navy.

History

Pre-Service History

Born to Geseb and Fresisa Var on Corellia, Teveoji and his family grew up without much money. Geseb, a man who served in the Galactic Republic Navy until year 2 and defected to the Empire, set up a small repair shop to work on interstellar ships. Teveoji became fascinated with space, but his parents never had the money to travel offworld. Teveoji excelled in his math and science classes, and when he was just 12 years old, decided he wanted to become a pilot. At age 16, Teveoji and a couple of his friends were called on by the local police to help them sneak into a factory that was occupied by a few rebel terrorists and their Imperial citizen hostages. Teveoji and his friends made it inside, but they were captured. All but two of them were killed on the spot, and the rest of them were locked up. Inside the cells, they met a strange woman that helped them fight off the rebels and escape. This woman revealed herself as an Imperial Intelligence agent who was trying to infiltrate their cell and find their leader. She offered Teveoji a commendation letter for entrance into the Imperial Academy, and when Teveoji turned 18, he left Corellia to attend the academy.

Life in the Imperial Navy

Teveoji spent four years in the Academy, and on his 22nd birthday, was sent to specialization school. There, he had a tough decision to make. Serving in the Army would allow him to travel to other planets and fight the enemy on ground. Serving in Regional Government would allow him to help others who needed it, and develop the infrastructure that kept the Empire running. But ultimately, Teveoji settled for the Imperial Navy. While he knew that eventually his officer career would turn to him leading a force onboard a capital ship of some sort, the opportunity to fly the finest fighter and freighters in the galaxy held sway over his decision. Graduating from the Academy on Y13 D245, he was assigned to a Naval Group.

There, he served with diligence. His first practice warsim with his fellow groupmates resulted in Teveoji taking first place. After a transfer to another group inside of the fleet, Teveoji settled in and began to work hard. After receiving two Letters of Commendation from Commander Clarence, Teveoji was approached and was asked to serve as Fleet Training Officer.

For a while, Teveoji served as a Fleet Training officer, and it was there he proved himself to be a capable commander. When Commander Clarence moved to inactive for personal reasons, and Surion took over 5th Group, he was asked to serve as his Executive Officer. However, the stress began to take a toll on Teveoji, and he decided that retirement from the Navy was the best course of action. He submitted the paperwork, and transferred to COMPNOR to help educate younger kids on his homeworld of Corellia.

Return to Service

Teveoji didn't stay out of the Navy for long. Within a few weeks, he realized that COMPNOR just didn't have the rigidness he was looking for. Eventually, he sent out a message to a contact he served with in the Navy, and found the process for coming out of the reserves. Within a few months, Teveoji had reported back in to his nearest recruiting station, and we reassigned to a new group. Vowing this time around to take his time, Teveoji was determined to become the deadly pilot he had once been.

Upon his return, Teveoji managed to qualify in the Interceptor almost immediately. The Bomber presented itself as more of a challenge, but he managed to get his qualification to fly it as well within a few months. However, for the first time he was able to pilot a TIE Scout, and his inexperience kept him from qualification for six months. During this time, Teveoji spent most of his time in the Scout, and eventually came to respect the large, but fast ship. When Teveoji retook the qualification test, he set a record for completion speed and still managed to hit all of his targets. Honing his skills, he had a higher hit percentage in the Scout than he did inside of an Interceptor. With his final qualification, he was able to return as a squadron leader.

When returning to the Navy, Teveoji had set out to keep a smaller workload, and focus on his combat capabilities. However, on his return, he noticed that the current Training Officer had become lazy in his absence. Teveoji was furious that a position that he had helped to set up was being abused. He immediately sent an application for replacement of the current Fleet Training Officer, and was appointed almost immediately. The old TO was arrested and escorted out. His first order of business was to construct a training schedule for the groups to follow.

Life as a Commander

Teveoji quickly got back to work, and quickly rose to the rank of Commander. During the short time he served as Lieutenant Commander, the entire Navy consolidated down to one Group per sector. Working with Captain Sol, Teveoji was given an opportunity to command capital ships. It was here that Teveoji learned to love the intricacies of command. Being a leader was something that drove Teveoji, and soon he gained an appreciation for working as a group to get the giant behemoths like Victory Star Destroyers to work as one giant unit. The crews he worked with were so inspired by his words, and he with their dedication.

Eventually, the Gammorean flu broke out in the Tapani sector, and many pilots and commanders, including Sol and Gravis, were effected. The 3rd Group needed leadership, and Teveoji was selected to take command of the 3rd Group. Teveoji felt like there were many better candidates for the job, including Jhev Tiquisitor, who served as his XO during this time. Teveoji worked for many months to build the group in his vision, and to instill in his new subordinates the same level of dedication to the Empire that fueled him. However, Teveoji began to overwork himself. Between trying to prepare his Group for combat against Rebels and pirates, and doing scans, Teveoji also continued his work with the Training Office. There was too much on his plate, and slowly Teveoji began to lose his mind. His closest friend and constant wingman, Lo-Fel, started to notice and quickly recommended Teveoji began to seek counseling. Teveoji reluctantly relinquished his duties as Fleet Training Officer, but still worked hard to as the Group's Commanding Officer.

Eventually, Teveoji had a breakdown, and spent nearly 6 hours locked in his room by Lo-Fel. Because of his quick thinking, no one was alerted to Teveoji's state of mind. However, he knew that he couldn't keep it up, and Teveoji tendered his resignation from the Navy. While he knew that one day he'd like to return, Teveoji knew it was time to take a break from his work. He got a job teaching math classes to Imperial Pilot candidates at the University of Corellia.

The Serroco Incident

Teveoji extremely enjoyed the University world and atmosphere. While there were high amounts of stress sometimes as a professor, he enjoyed the challenge of getting students excited and involved. He found new and exciting ways to inspire Imperial loyalty with his students. It was during this time that his mother passed away, and Teveoji's passion for flying was renewed during his spare time. He worked with his students as hard as possible, and pushed them to their limits, knowing that they were all Imperial Academy prospects. He would regale his students with his exploits as a Navy Commander, and he gained their respect quickly.

At the end of the semester, rumors began to break out about the resurgence of the Derra virus. While Teveoji hadn't been affected by this plague personally, he had many friends who were. He also remembered the violence that came along with this plague. He began to monitor all news sites, not just the reports that the Empire issued, and the process was beginning to repeat itself. Teveoji had continued his counseling after leaving the Navy, and he saw a major improvement in his ability to cope with different situations at the same time. This new conflict reignited his desire to protect those that would be harmed by rebel and pirate elements, and Teveoji reached out to the Imperial Recruiter at the University of Corellia. They wouldn't talk about why they were so keen on allowing retired pilots to return to service, but Teveoji figured they needed more pilots to help out with the coming conflict. If the virus was travelling from planet to planet, it was only a matter of time before it hit his homeworld, and Teveoji was not going to let his homeworld come under attack.

This time, there would be no aspirations of command. No aspirations of improving the quality of life of new pilots in training. This was about defending his world, his friends, and his Empire.
