Overview

The Jaso Sector is a sector within the Inner Rim and is currently under the control of the Galactic Empire. It is managed and governed by Lieutenant Governor Maulak Khaos of the Regional Government, with the chief magistrate being Destra Kami, Moff of the Tapani Sector. Jaso has two known systems, Polith and Tauber. Among these are 2 suns, 10 planets, 1 moon, 4 asteroid fields, 23 space stations, and a total population of 1,729,277,957 inhabitants. The most notable planet located within the Jaso Sector is Thyferra, homeworld of both the Thyferrans and the insectoid species, Vratix, who were the first to create the commodity known as bacta. Various successful boloball teams have also come out of Jaso. Notable trade routes include the Rimma Trade Route and the Shapani Bypass, with the most popular export being bacta.

History

The heart and soul of the Jaso Sector is undeniably the planet of Thyferra, located within the Polith system. Originally colonized by the insectoid species, the Vratix, Thyferra began to draw attention once humans discovered their invention that displayed incredible healing properties, bacta. The humans that immigrated into the system, greatly outnumbering the Vratix, eventually took over the bacta market and established successful trade routes exporting the new commodity. Created by combining alazhi and kavam, two materials unique to the planet, Thyferra and the Jaso Sector boomed with prosperity and a rise in population. The surrounding region became a hub of medical innovation and importance throughout the galaxy. As the Galactic Empire expanded its borders, the Jaso Sector was incorporated into the overarching Tapani Sector and was placed under the rule of the local Moff and developed further. Most recently, Jaso was assigned the governance of Lieutenant Governor Maulak Khaos.

Law

Law within the Jaso Sector is very generally consistent with that of other sectors, and abides by the many directives of Imperial Law. Being a popular hub of trade and commerce, various initiatives have been set in place by the Imperial Security Bureau to screen incoming and outgoing ships, preventing the unlawful solicitation of commodities within Jaso. Checkpoints are established at each starport, as well as stations in orbit of each planet. Any and all offenders are held at the Bacardia Correctional Facility on Loxizhra, infamous for its harsh conditions and inventive punishment methods involving white rum. In very extreme cases, the local Sector Governor has been known to personally flog the offender with large trouts.

Though the Vratix are considered Class-C citizens under Imperial Law, specific precedents have been set due to their contributions to the sector. Known as the Vratix Rights Compromise, this law protects the natives from slavery, institutes a minimum wage, and enforces total integration with human species. While the local government has established multiple Vratix-specific neighborhoods and reservations, the VRC allows the insectoids to live, work, and interact directly with their planet's coinhabitants without fearing prejudice. Tolerance is a value instilled within children at a young age in the sector. Though initially met with some opposition, the Vratix Rights Compromise has remained a part of Jaso Law for millenia.

Rimma Trade Route

The Rimma Trade Route is a major trade highway in the galaxy, extending from Abregado-Rae in the Core Worlds to the Kathol Sector of the Outer Rim. Originally mapped by Sullustan merchants from the Tapani Sector, the route has become a popular path for traders, as it passes through some of the most prosperous hubs in the galaxy. Since its conception, much of it has been seized and sanctioned under Imperial Law to benefit the development of the Empire's territory, primarily that Tapani Sector and those encompassed by it, including Jaso, along with assisting in the colonization of the south. The junction most relevant to the prosperity of the Jaso Sector is the Shapani Bypass.

Shapani Bypass

The Shapani Bypass, or the "Bacta Run" as it was commonly nicknamed, was a popular hyperlane used as a shortcut to deliver bacta from Thyferra to the Core Worlds. It was a sub-route of the Rimma Trade Route that ran from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim, however it was much more heavily traveled than the section of the Rimma that it bypassed and was often mistaken for being an actual part of the path. The establishment of this shortcut lessened the time to travel the Rimma by a matter of days.
The Bypass begins at Thyferra and splits with the Rimma Trade Route to pass through the Tapani Sector. This ultimately resulted in stops at various budding planets, such as Achillea, Aleron, Tallaan, (where it intersected the Giju Run and the Procopian Shipping Lane), Tamber, Lamuir IV, Alisandor and Mrlsst before rejoining the Rimma.
