Biography
Painful Memories
Koltan 'Kol' Seraph was born in Sah'c Town on Coruscant on Day 206 of Year -7. When he was only 3 years old, Kol's mother, Lasha, died in a tragic speeder accident. Black Sun toughs killed his father, Garran, later that year, after his father failed to repay a loan he got from the syndicate to pay for the stimulant addiction he had fallen into in the wake of his wife's death. Kol, only a child, watched Black Sun agents brutally murder his father while hiding under his bed. Hiding, it was later proven, in vain.
To repay his father's debt, Kol was enslaved by the syndicate, and remained an indentured servant for 5 years, before he managed to kill his abusive master and escape. With nowhere else to go, Kol made his way to Coruscant's lawless Undercity, where he soon joined a juvie gang called the 'Undercity Shades'.
Over the next couple of years, Kol became the leader of the Shades and led them, along with several other gangs, against Black Sun's local operations. Seraph's private war lasted for a little over 6 years, and the resourceful gang leader always managed to stay one-step ahead of his enemies until that fateful night, when his gang-brother and closest friend, Cardin Shrike, betrayed him and the Shades to Black Sun for the fortune of credits the syndicate had put on Seraph's head.
Born Again Imperial
Black Sun killed all of Kol's confederates, including the traitorous Cardin, but Seraph survived when Imperial Army soldiers, deployed to find and eliminate the leader of the Black Sun mercenaries involved, interrupted the executions. At this time, the 16-year-old Seraph, with all his friends dead and his gang finished, made up his mind to join the Galactic Empire.
Having to wait two years before being eligible for enlistment, Kol spent the time by enrolling and serving in the Imperial Youth Militia, a paramilitary detachment of the Imperial SAGroup, itself a subsidiary body of COMPNOR. The Militia was an organization which encouraged frustrated Youths to instill order on the neglected, crime-ridden streets of Coruscant through state-approved violence, giving lower and middle class adolescents their own place to belong and a purpose to fulfill outside of the gangs. Due to his previous life experiences on the streets, Kol excelled during his time in the Militia, and earned a scholarship to attend the Imperial Academy, which he did as soon as he turned 18. Under the tutelage of Captain Rik Zoidic, who dictated his lessons via holonet transmissions when he wasn't busy leading the 3rd Imperial Legion in combat operations elsewhere in the Galaxy, Seraph, then a Recruit, found the inspiration he needed to excel in his studies.
After several months of lectures dictated to him by a man he considered a true Imperial hero, Kol graduated from the Academy with a grade in the low 90s (not to mention a perfect score on his Final Assignment), and at last was able to enlist in the Imperial Army, and received a promotion to Private for doing so. Upon receiving his first posting, Private Seraph felt confident in his ability to serve as a soldier of the Galactic Empire for what he hoped to be the rest of his days.

Memorable Quotes

- — Kol during his time as leader of the Undercity Shades
- "I think, for the first time in my life, I feel like I'm a part of something that can make a difference."
- — Cadet K. Seraph to his SAGroup Liaison Officer during his time in the Youth Militia
- "A great people can be killed, but they cannot be intimidated."
- — Recruit Seraph, when asked about his views on the Empire's citizens during his time at the Imperial Academy
- "From what I've gathered, honest work on Tatooine is a commodity!"
- — Private Seraph on the the level of corruption on the desert planet
- "Sir, with all due respect, my job is to ensure the safety of loyal Imperial citizens throughout the Galaxy. From my experience from talking to many Naboo, I've gathered that the indigenous Gungans aren't the most peaceful race to live alongside. Many Naboo have also gone on to describe them as violent savages who care little to nothing about the Empire and the lives and livelihood of its citizens. During my time in the Empire, I haven't seen one Gungan in an Imperial uniform. I've seen Bothans, Gand, Quarren, and even a Wookiee serve the Emperor faithfully. And I respect them, despite their non-Human status. I'm not a bigot, I just don't possess the same respect for aliens who don't give a damn about our way of life than for those that do."
- — Private Seraph to then Junior Administrator Krakonico Petermind of COMPNOR, explaining his stance on the amphibious sentients
- "There is simply no room in an Army uniform for second thoughts, especially not one cut from His Majesty's cloth."
- — Private Seraph upon hearing the news of the desertion and subsequent arrest of fellow Academy classmate Private Kaylin Shen
