Deimos Falkenberg was a Senior Engineer in the Bothan Blasting Company who acted as the liaison between the company and the Bothan Sector Regional Government.

Biography

Physical Description

Standing two hundred and eight centimeters tall and weighing in at one hundred and thirty kilograms, Deimos is a rather large man. His musculature and skeletal structures are unnaturally dense, causing his weight to far exceed the expected figure for his height and build. His skin is a particularly dark blue for his race and his eyes are a bright, blood red. His body was, at the time of his enlistment in the NAO Guard, covered in battle scars. These scars have since vanished, presumably removed by plastic surgery some time while he was a Silhouette Operative.

He is known to, while off duty, commonly wear a black bantha hide trench coat over heavy battle armor and carry a pair of EE-3 blasters as pistols.

In The Beginning

What very little information is known about Mr. Falkenberg's past before Year 7 is garnered from ancient Csillian archives and is not considered reliable. Mr. Falkenberg's memory before Year 7 is fragmented.

In Year -1033 Midur`an`dalor "Durandal" was born to Midur`al`orum and Chaf`ees`aklaio in the village of Abe`n`ga, Northern Province, Csilla, Unknown Regions. This village's existence at this time has been confirmed by comparing the Csillan tax records with various ruins spread across that province. The next confirmed record of Durandal's past is his incomplete Chiss Expansionary Defense Force file. It details the beginning of his military career, but offers to hint to what happened to him after Year -999 when, by Mr. Falkenberg's account, Durandal joined the CEDF's intelligence wing. His recorded military career was rather unbelievable and was originally filed as false, until the rest of the database it came from was analyzed and corroborating information, verified by other sources.

The following is an excerpt from his recruitment interview for the New Anzat Order Guard, during which Deimos detailed what he does remember of his first life:

"I never graduated from the CEDF academy. During my first semester there we were attacked by a separatist group from Shiin, a covert attack in a wee hours of the morning, before dawn." He shifted in his chair in the briefing room, obviously nervous in front of the NAO MoS agent.

"I was on watch and, while leaning down to retrieve my canteen, was barely missed by a sniper shot. I dropped to the ground, as if hit, and readied my only weapon... a knife. I saw them coming out of the darkness, they approached and one started to check the bodies while the other 7 headed for the barracks, carrying satchels of explosives."

"As the assassin went to check me, I kicked him in the groin, dropping him to his knees. And, springing up, I stabbed him through the throat. When the man stopped gurgling, I yanked the knife out and took his gear before heading for the academy barracks." He looked down at the conference table, "I had killed for the first time, and it felt strange. I felt no remorse for the man I had slain..." He looked back up at the MoS agent, "Just... anger."

"There was another one standing guard at the entrance of the barracks. I dropped to one knee, took aim, and shot him in the head. The rifle was silent. Then, charging into the barracks, I stopped. I looked into a friend of mine's room, he was dead, him and his roommate shot in their sleep." He sighed, "If I was angry at them before, I was furious now. So blinded by inconsolable rage I wanted nothing but to stop them and kill them."

"I came upon a pair of them, one of them setting a frame charge while the other stood vigilant. I shot him, catching him in the chest, dropping him. As he fell his dying shot hit my shoulder. His partner went for his gun and shouted, breaking the silence. I gunned him down." He took a drink of water from the glass on the conference table before pulling his shirt collar to one side, revealing a blaster wound scar.

"I could hear the others coming, fast. I dropped the sniper rifle and picked up the two fallen men's side arms and fell back towards the cafeteria. They charged after me." He said as he fixed his collar. "I ducked into a janitorial closet and hid for a moment as they rounded a corner and ran past. As they passed me, I threw open the door, slamming the last one running down the hall to the ground."

"I stepped out as they turned around, firing with the two pistols, and unlike the sniper rifle, these shots were deafening. I killed the three that had made it past me." He lifted his shirt, revealing a large scar on his gut, "I had turned around just in time to be shot again, by the one I had knocked down. I dropped, but kept shooting, killing him."

"The next day I awoke in the academy's medical facility, having some time in a bacta tank." He tucked his shirt back in and smiled, "I was field commissioned as a second lieutenant and awarded medals for being wounded in battle and for heroism. I remember being assigned to an infantry unit... but not much after that."

According to his service record, Durandal was discharged a few days later, and was ordered to report to 2nd Platoon, Echo Company, 1st Battalion, 42nd Mobile Infantry regiment of CEDF Fleet Marines to relieve an officer who had been wounded in battle. He served in this post until Year -999 when he was officially transferred to a unit that had been wiped out weeks before... and listed as KIA.

An Awakening

The following are medical reports recovered in a raid on a top secret research facility by an Imperial Intelligence strike force:

Sirs and Madam,

The project has progressed to phase two. The recovered carbonite storage tank has been successfully moved from Csilla to Coruscant without incident. We are prepared to open it and attempt to study the subject inside. It is believed he was frozen immediately after his death during a failed experimental surgery, which I have attached a detail description of from the recovered logs.

1. Duracrete ceramic ossification: advanced material grafting onto skeletal structures to make bones virtually unbreakable. Recommended coverage not to exceed 3 percent total bone mass because of significant white blood cell necrosis. Specific risk for pre- and near-post-pubescent adolescents: skeletal growth spurts may cause irreparable bone pulverization. See attached case studies.

2. Muscular enhancement injections: protein complex is injected intramuscularly to increase tissue density and decrease lactose recovery time. Risk: 5 percent of test subjects experience a fatal cardiac volume increase.

3. Catalytic thyroid implant: pellet containing growth hormone catalyst is implanted in the thyroid to boost growth of skeletal and muscle tissues. Risk: rare instances of elephantiasis. Suppressed sexual drive.

4. Occipital capillary reversal: submergence and boosted blood vessel flow beneath the rods and cones of subject’s retina. Produces a marked visual perception increase. Risk: retinal rejection and detachment. Permanent blindness. See attached autopsy reports.

5. Rudic fibrification of neural dendrites: alteration of bio-electrical nerve transduction to shielded electronic transduction. Three hundred percent increase in subject reflexes. Anecdotal evidence of marked increase in intelligence, memory, and creativity. Risk: significant instances of Parkinson’s disease and Fletcher’s syndrome.

On your orders we will proceed.

We have failed... despite all indications to the contrary, the test subject was not deceased. He has escaped the laboratory and is unaccounted for. During his escape we suffered minor casualties to our medical staff and our security team is a complete loss. We are shutting down and preparing to relocate as you are reading this.
