IMPERIAL PALACE, CORUSCANT (INS) — A crowd of millions, representatives of every major news bureau, and key members of the Imperial Union gathered in the plaza below the Emperor's Balcony of the Imperial Palace yesterday afternoon. The Balcony has been the platform for the announcements that have echoed throughout the galaxy over the ages, and the most recent proclamation was no different. Thomas Cherokee appeared before the crowd to announce his ascension to the Imperial Throne after Vodo Bonias’ abdication the previous day. Bonias' departure from the throne has been anticipated since the reunification of the New Imperial Order and the Empire, but recent political actions required an accelerated schedule for the change in leadership, with some political analysts believing the change of power a result of an internal power struggle.

The lengthy reign of Vodo Bonias has been the longest on record for any Emperor since the establishment of the Empire, but has also been one of many criticisms and few triumphs. During the Sith-influenced incumbency, the galaxy witnessed multiple schisms and revolts including the emergence of the New Imperial Order, the Pentastar Alignment and the Chalcedon Dominion. Despite these turbulent political occurrences, the regime saw the establishment of the continually successful and expanding Imperial Union; the most successful mutual-defense and economic accord in galactic history.

Celebrations broke out throughout the Empire as Imperial citizens have long agreed that Cherokee was the most obvious and optimum choice to ascend The Throne, often being cited as the most effective administrator the Empire has had in many years. Before the Unification, Thomas Cherokee lead the New Imperial Order, and through his leadership, developed the small government into an efficient, effective, and respected political presence in the galaxy that transformed the Bothan Sector into a galactic center of commerce and culture. As Executor of the Galactic Empire, Cherokee instituted a renewed focus on Sector Government and increased the autonomy of the Imperial Moffs, whilst fostering the development of the Ministry of Industry which has worked to maintain the Empire's technological and infrastructural superiority. With the confidence of the Imperial High Command and the Empire for his continued pro-active and consistent leadership, it is of no surprise that Cherokee now retains The Throne as a leader with vision, and the respect of his subjects.

Addressing the Empire and leaders of the Imperial Union during the routine Imperial Monthly Meeting, Emperor Cherokee outlined the ethos and attitude he expected of the new regime for continued evolution of the Empire. Invoking an atmosphere of prosperity and progress, several new appointments amongst Imperial High Command were made including the appointment of Minister Ndengin to the position of Executor; citing the unsuitability of Grand Moff Orphaea Imperium to fulfill the role after his recent actions have caused issues of trust and leadership. The Emperor later praised the Grand Moff’s tenacity and role in enabling a new regime to be formed allowing the Empire to once again move forward.

When asked about the future of the Galactic Empire and the Imperial Union, Emperor Cherokee replied, “The Galactic Empire affirms its dedication to the Imperial Union and reaffirms its intent to remain the solid core upon which the Union is formed. Furthermore, the Galactic Empire is emerging from a time of relative isolation during which its focus remained inward and cloistered with its allies in the Imperial Union. It will begin once again to look outward not only by increasing the presence of the Imperial Union on the galactic stage, but also in extending diplomatic contact to numerous governments and corporations that once were numbered among the allies and friends of the Empire but were spurned or alienated by the policies and actions of the previous Imperial regime.” The Emperor concluded, “We are entering a new era of profound success for the Empire and its allies, but also of equal distress to those who oppose us.”
