The administrative divisions of the Galactic Empire—the sectors and systems that make up the Empire's territory—are managed by the Regional Government.
Structure
To make managing the Empire's planets and the affairs of its citizens easier, Imperial sectors are granted a certain degree of autonomy and are managed through their regional governors. Moffs are accountable to the Emperor and the Imperial Inner Circle. The Moff's second-in-command is the Sector Adjutant, and sometimes Sub-Sectors were created with Governors administratively responsible for overseeing them. The Moff appoints heads of various government departments—such as the departments of defense, justice (which typically work closely with the Imperial Security Bureau), health, development, transport, and culture (which typically work closely with the Coalition for Progress)—who were all directly accountable to the Moff and Sector Adjutant. Moffs also represent their sectors in Imperial High Command.
Typically individual planetary governments are permitted to organize themselves as they preferred—monarchical, democratic, or any other form of government—as long as they respect the Imperial Code of Laws, the authority of the Moff and other Imperial departments, and are as prosperous as expected.
