Three standard weeks later Somar, along with the other survivors of the Killing House, headed out to an unnamed planet. Known to instructors as “the Dirtball”, it was a medium sized desert planet with two small Imperial outposts on the equator. Treb and his fellow recruits were issued Extreme Warm Weather equipment, blasters with live ammunition, rations, and medical supplies. The two platoons were separated from each other. One went to Outpost Two, while Somar’s went to Outpost One. Their objective was to cut across open desert to reach their Rally Point halfway between them. Their trek was made easier with the use of domesticated Dewbacks assigned to both outposts. It was a long slow, life taking walk. Treb was forced to put down three recruits during the trek. One was crushed due to her Dewback slipping and rolling over her. A Medevac would have taken too long. She asked for a mercy killing, he gave it to her. An argument between two recruits turned violent, one shot the other in his anger, Somar put him down. The third lost it and began shooting at anything that moved, he died in a hail of blaster fire. Early Life
Treb was born into a small family on his home world Tatooine, which was under moderate Imperial protection at the time. Both his father and mother made a living by owning a vehicle repair shop. Together with his parents, they would fix speeders and the occasional starship. He grew up around Imperial Troopers and watched in awe as his elder cousins joined the Imperial Military. Before he was old enough to enlist the Imperial garrison had left the planet, their services being needed elsewhere.
When he was in his twenties he had married his coworker Jaina and had a daughter she named Selene, after her sister. Their happiness was short lived however, the New Republic had come to annex Tatooine.
Tatooine Imperial Resistance (T.I.R.)
When the planet was annexed a number of its inhabitants left for Imperial space, Treb's family didn't. Life had become strenuous under the new leadership causing a strong resentment between the Imperialists of Tatooine, and the Republic garrison. Street fights and bar brawls became an everyday occurrence. It was only a matter of time until things went too far. Local offworld communications were eventually blocked and screened, many businesses were shut down regardless of size. Along with his parents, Treb faced being forced into work in the Republic's base alongside other forced labor workers. The leaders from Imperial friendly settlements on Tatooine secretly met, and discussed what needed to be done. After weeks of talking it was decided that those loyal to the Empire would escape offworld, but a distraction was needed.
Within days after the meeting a Resistance was formed into two groups. The first was the active group, who openly fought and raided their oppressors. The second was the smuggling group, whom quietly evacuated people from Tatooine. Treb joined the active resistance, while his wife joined the inactive portion and saw to both her and Treb's parents evacuation with Selene. Over the next four years the resistance broke their friends and neighbors out of the work camps, sabotaged ships and equipment, captured unfriendly settlements and liberated friendly towns.
Caves used by refugees before leaving Tatooine. |
The body count persistently rose to the point where the Resistance was grossly outnumbered ten to one. Treb had suffered from many wounds and injuries through his battles, as well as loosing many friends and neighbors. When all but the soldiers were left on the planet they began to pull back from all of their defensive positions. The Republic soon realized what was taking place as they advanced, coming upon abandoned settlements and strongholds. Their advance to victory was hindered when a 'hit and run' attack took place at the Republic's main space port. The attack had destroyed many of their starfighters and defensive turrets.
Treb in the T.I.R.'s final hour. |
Tatooine Imperial Resistance fought its final battle two weeks later. The battle lasted four days and would be known to both sides as the "Running Fight". It was literally a running blaster fight to the remaining four freighter ships the Resistance had. Treb himself barley managed to reach the Dathmiri Witch in time before it took off, having been shot in the leg. The Republic by this time had repaired twenty three of their fighters and sent them to intercept. They shot down one freighter, the Free Breeze, before it entered Tatooine’s orbit, causing the burning hulk to crash into a canyon. All hands were lost, including Jaina. The Hutt's Heiress and the Outcast collided in space taking all aboard and a few fighters with them.
Treb lost consciousness after the Dathmiri Witch escaped. He later awoke floating within a bacta tank, on board an Imperial ship. A Nebulon-B Frigate intercepted the Witch where upon a crewman had recognized Treb. The crewman was one of Treb's older cousins who called in a favor with the ship's doctor for Treb's treatment.
"The lucky ones live to feal guilty." - Treb's father
Family Reunion
The two cousins spent four days together before arriving at Coruscant where Treb was reunited with Selene and his parents. While he was still on Tatooine his family had found work, but they couldn't make enough money. So after catching up with his now five year old daughter and spending time grieving for his loss, Treb saw an opportunity. The Imperial Army. Soldier's pay would be enough support for his family, so after some thought he enlisted.
"My worst day was when I came to my parents home on Coruscant. My daughter had already learned how to talk, and asked where Mama was." - Treb to his recruiter
Imperial Military
"Once you've killed your friends, you'll never have a good death." - Treb Somar
Upon entering the Imperial Academy, Treb was assigned to an instructor named Skyron Cyneran, now a Provisional Prefect. Basic Combat Training (BCT) was the obvious first step. Learning to use every weapon in the Imperial arsenal, as well as cleaning it after each use was paramount. Extensive training was implemented to increase physical fitness and combative ability. After months of training and making a few friends, Treb and his company was ready to face the gauntlet.
First came testing the recruits’ skills in anti-terrorism. Known as Chaos Level One which utilized the Mark Eight Killing House, an upgraded version from the Clone Wars. A massive multi-level structure, whose layout could be changed rapidly. Treb would enter the Killing House the required five consecutive times. Each time the rooms would be changed. What was once a hallway would now be a storage room. Or one day the roof would turn into the fifteenth level, with another twenty to go. To add to the realism, live fire was sometimes used without the recruits’ knowledge. Somar’s company was down from four to two platoons when they completed Level One.
By the time both platoons arrived at the Rally Point, Treb’s platoon was reduced from forty five to fifteen. The other platoon was down to eleven.

Appearance and Demeanor
Treb Somar stands at 5'9, has short dark hair and has an average build. He is usually seen unshaven. He's almost always garbed in either the black bodyglove worn by Troopers, or in an imperial pilot's flight suit while working. Otherwise he wears plain cloths when not on the clock. Treb also has a single rune like tattoo on his right wrist. He had somehow acquired it after the Dathmiri Witch was rescued by the Imperial ship his cousin was stationed on. Since then he has been uneasy around some people.
Family
Treb was born to Nova and Davin Somar in a small town on the planet Tatooine. Nova was a native to the planet, having spent most of her life there. He has one aunt and three uncles, from his mother's side. This brought about his eight older cousins as well. Davin on the other hand was from Dromund Kaas. He and Treb's grandmother had fled the planet when she discovered that the Force users on the planet wanted Davin to join them. Davin's mother remarried before he ended up on Tatooine. Treb's uncles and aunts on his father's side lived off world, and rarely visited. And due to a shortage of provisions, Treb was the only child his parents had.
While working in his parents' small repair shop, he met his future wife Jaina Si'ann. She had left her own town looking for work, and at this time the Somars were swamped with it. The two grew closer over the next four years before becoming a couple. Within a year the two had married and had Selene, who was the spitting image of her mother.
Selene's birth was the last happy moment the three would have together. Tatooine was annexed two weeks later. The newly born Selene, along with her grandparents left Tatooine for Coruscant. As she grew without her parents, Selene's grandparents made sure she knew who her mother and father were. Showing her images and recordings of the two. Jaina had even spoken to Selene through messages she had smuggled out with the evacuees. Four and a half years slowly passed then Treb turned up at his parent's apartment on Coruscant, alone.
