The first line of defence in every Imperial Fleet are the fighter pilots. Far from being anything but ordinary they represent the true elite of the Imperial Navy! Only about ten percent of all recruits that pass through the Imperial Academy successfully complete the intense training necessary to be assigned to the fighter pilot corps, all others are reassigned to other posts throughout the Navy. Only those that prove to be loyal to the Emperor and willing to sacrifice their lives to complete their assigned missions are allowed into the sparse cockpits of the standard Imperial starfighters. Against what Anti Imperial propaganda tries to prove they are fully aware that these vessels lack an integrated life-support system as well as any combat deflector shields. The Second Imperial Fleet was officially formed on Y 6 D 338 (November 5, 2005) and is the result of the fusion of the old Elrood Defense Fleet with the original Second Imperial Fleet. Under command and guidance of some of the best officers the Imperial Navy has to offer it has evolved into an elite combat unit in the armed naval forces of the Galactic Empire. The enlisted personnel that is serving in this fleet is well drilled, well trained and well organized and thus a force to be reckoned with! Under the able leadership of their senior officers they vigilantly guard the space lanes, planets and systems of the Galactic Empire, and they go willingly wherever duty takes them. Each member of this fleet - from the lowest enlistet to the highest ranking officer - does possess an unfaltering iron will to support and defend the Galactic Empire against all enemies, be it foreign or domestic.

History
Previous Fleet Commanding Officers
Fleet Admiral Samurai
Was the 2IFs first commanding officer. Captain Dimitri Sephiroth was appointed as fleet FXO.
Captain Dimitri Sephiroth
Appointed after the Blockade of Commemor in the first quarter of 2006, LTCMDR Dujaan Korr was promoted to FXO. Mid 2006 Commander Prijo Sacha joined the fleet as LTCMDR Korr left on an extended LOA.
Captain Prijo Sacha
In Octover 2006 he became the new FCO, with LTCMDR Corran Nu as FXO.
Vice Admiral Zachary Savk
Vice Admiral Zachary Savk, who shortly before had returned to active duty after a 3 year break, took over on the 7th of July 2007 as - Captain Sacha being on LOA during this time was later removed from fleet command, CMDR Dujaan Korr was reassigned to another fleet, leaving LTCMDR Janos Korin as FXO. LT Beckhart (formerly of the Imperial Army) was assigned as Chief of Staff, but left after only a few short months. Fleet Command now consisted of VAdm Savk (FCO), LTCMDR Korin (FXO), and eventually CMSGT Jakhim (FCoS). Prior to his LOA he was was the FCO of the Emperor's Imperial Command Fleet. But the position he held longest was as the FCO of the old 2nd Assault Fleet. It was there that he started his career as a TIE pilot. He also founded the Imperial Naval Academy (INA) and was its first Director. It is long outdated now but prior to his endeavours there was no formal recruit training and all recruits had to pass a short written exam before being assigned to a fleet. Other positions he held over the years include Naval Command Coordinations Officer (NCCO) and Naval Executive Officer (NXO). He also took a very brief tour of duty in the Imperial Army where he commanded a Brigade of AT-ATs at the rank of Colonel for a few months. Many members of the Second Imperial Fleet consider the taking over of VAdm Savk as the Golden Age of the fleet, as it brought a new wave of high activity and many successful missions - as a result the 2IF was the first fleet in the Empire to receive the valued Fleet Of Month Award for 2 months in a row. Small wonder that Savk, after only a few months as commander of the 2IF was promoted to Admiral in Y9D116. Three days later he got a permanent seat in the Navy High Command and assignments as Secretary of the Navy or Executive Officer of the Navy followed. The Date Y9D219 became a day for celebration for this highly decorated officer: Due to his impeccable service for the Empire and the Imperial Navy Admiral Savk became the first (and sole) recipient of the Gold Navy Cross of Merit, awarded by Rear Admiral Assam. Many months went by and the 2IF prospered under CMDR Korins command and the watchful eyes of Admiral Savk. Then disaster struck as the Navy CO Admiral Assam was suddenly murdered by cowardly traitors. The CoC kicked in and RADM Vulcan had to step up to the task of leading the Imperial Navy with Admiral Savk as his NXO. This left Vulcans 8IF without a proper commander and without any able officers, since his new duties made it impossible to deal with the entire Navy and a fleet as well. But trust in these grave times doesn't come easy and so a man was searched who would not only be able to pull the 8th out of the mud but who was well above any suspicions too. A fleet of the Emperor was in need and Admiral Savk was the one who was ready to help and do the job. So Y10D77 was a sad day for all members of the Second since their Admiral of the Fleet and long time CO was transfered over to the 8th. The Second wishes him luck in his endeavour to restore the 8th and make it as good a fleet to serve in as the Second is.
LTCMDR Andhers Jakhim
Being the right hand of the fleet commander for many months he stepped up to command position as Admiral Savk was called to higher duty in NHC. Due to the fact that this was leaving Admiral Savk with little time for the daily fleet work he had been given the Admiral of the Fleet position which only once before had been held by an Imperial officer in the history of the 2IF. So LtCmdr Jakhim stepped up to the difficult task to lead the Second Imperial Fleet, which he did for a whole month with formidable results. Still this able Imperial officer felt that he could not give the fleet members all the level of attention that he expects a Commanding Officer to give his fleet. Rather than waiting for something bad to happen he wisely contacted parts of Naval High Command and asked to be replaced. After stepping down LtCmdr Jakhim was granted the position of Fleet Advisor, a position that was last used when Commodore Hack Skice was a part of the fleet.

Common believe, nurtured by enemies of the Empire, has it that to a TIE pilot, the success of a mission is more important than personal safety or the safety of fellow wingmen. While this might be true in some fleets it isn't the case in the Second Imperial Fleet. Here all fighter pilots are drilled in countless training scenarios to work together, to coordinate their actions to achieve the mission goal, while at the same time they are teached to look out for each others and watch their backs. TIEs

The Twin Ion Engine (TIE) series is a series of starfighters and vehicles designed by Sienar Fleet Systems. TIE series starfighters shared a general design form of a roughly spherical or cylindrical cockpit pod attached to a set of solar panels. The cockpit and panels could be supplemented by other modules for ordnance or other functions. Those who have seen the inside of the cockpit of a TIE know that it's neither very spacious nor luxurious compared to most other starfighters. It's design is purely functional and simple so not to distract the pilot in any way. All TIE series starfighters have two or more ion engine outlets, linked to a solar ionization reactor and solar array wings. With the exception of the TIE-Scout all other TIE series vessels are not equipped with hyperdrives and navicomputer systems, leaving more space for fire controlls and sublight engine boosters. So TIE-Pilots are usually forced to rely on speed, maneuverability, superior numbers and advanced weapon systems to prevail in combat. Ships in the TIE series are usually armed with one or more laser cannons. With no hyperdrive most TIEs are reliant on a capital ship to serve as a base of operations.
The TIE Interceptor is the fastest vessel in the TIE production series and the main interceptor craft used by the Galactic Empire. It's easily identifiable by its arrow-shaped solar collection panels that are a distinct difference from the hexagonal solar arrays of its predecessor, the TIE Fighter. The new solar array design, with the forward center section removed, is providing the pilot with increased visibility while shrinking its profile. TIE Interceptors are equipped with four Heavy Lasers that are installed on each wingtip. In addition to that the craft comes with a new targeting computer that offers greater accuracy during complex flight maneuvers. The engines where also improved and include an advanced ion-stream projector, thus allowing pilots access to more sophisticated combat maneuvers making the interceptor a superior craft in space combat, achieving speeds beyond most other starfighters short of the A-wing.
