Amne, the only child of Lydia Zailyn and smuggler Rohlan Dermot, was born in the forested city of Farenth, Lorell. Lydia raised her daughter alone and relocated across the continent to a suburb of the Northern Ocean at the request of her job. Due to her strong exposure to Basic on Lorell, Amne grew up bilingual. After Lydia's brother died from a work-related accident when Amne was seven, his widow and infant daughter moved in with the Zailyns. Amne came to regard her aunt and cousin, Kenna and Cecily Nikoris, more as her second mother and younger sister. By the time Amne left home to attend university, she had grown to resent Dermot for his illegal smuggling, which had kept him from being around more.

Lydia raised Amne herself, although she would leave her daughter with trusted friends before embarking on a particularly dangerous assignment. Amne was taught how to watch and listen, move quickly and quietly, defend herself armed or unarmed, pilot and fix ships, and both slice into and protect important files. However, Amne was scholarly by nature and not much interested in pursuing her mother's line of work as leader of a smuggling organization. Interested in politics, she convinced Lydia to allow her to attend a distinguished university on Hapes.

=====Entering the military=====
Amne became closer to Dermot and Vianna, a violet-haired [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Zeltron Zeltron] slicer in her father's employ. After an assignment gone wrong, Amne found herself arrested by the Coruscant Security Force. She was offered the choice between prosecuted as a smuggler and one year of military service, so she opted for the [[Imperial Army]]. Still grieving over the loss of Dianthe, Amne did not seek out friendships with her fellow students. She graduated with honors at the rank of Corporal and was placed in an elite brigade. She devoted herself to her assignments and slowly befriended the other soldiers in her brigade. Soon after completing her one year of court-mandated military service, which removed her probationary status and made her eligible for advancement, Amne was promoted to Master Sergeant. Not sure where to go from there, Amne decided to continue serving in the Army.

After several months, Amne was permitted a brief sabbatical. She spent the weekend on [[Corellia]] at an apartment in Carthage. At the end of her sabbatical, instead of being ordered back to the Army base, Amne was immediately sent to a mission briefing in Coronet. Amne is fluent in Hapan and Basic. She's fond of spiced Hapan ale, which often reminds her of home. Amne suffers from aviophobia; when she's not the pilot, Amne has been known to become nauseous and even pass out during space battles, particularly from advanced maneuvers. She takes Imperial Medical Corps-prescribed drugs to avoid these side effects while traveling for Army assignments. She has often used "Amne Dermot" as an alias, especially when she expects the use of the name to get back to her father. Amne remained in the habit of using Hapan years when referring to past events - often, for example, giving the year of her birth as '14 - which was confusing for many of her Imperial compatriots. She had to work to break herself of the habit of defaulting to the use of feminine pronouns. Her middle name, Thian, is common among Hapans; [http://library.hapes.org/index.php?title=Thian_Tini%27duran Thian Tini'duran] was one of the most beloved Queen Mothers in Hapan history. Amne's admiration of her namesake was a direct influence on her interest in a career in politics. Amne became more conscious of her own privileges while working for her father and serving in the Imperial Army. She often has to bite her tongue when she sees her superiors being sexist, humanocentric, or otherwise discriminating. She has a soft spot for smugglers, which is unorthodox for an Imperial soldier.

Although his career did not allow him to be a steady presence in his daughter's life, Dermot maintained a relationship with Amne. As she grew older, he taught her things that "she would never learn in school" but that he deemed "necessary to round out her education," as he later explained to Lydia when she found out. These skills included stealth, thievery and rudimentary slicing and ship mechanics. Dermot later took Amne in when she fled from the Hapes Cluster.

Amne keeps in touch with her family, although she wasn't able to attend Kenna's wedding or see Cecily off to university. After Kenna remarried, Lydia left Hapan space and by reading between the lines of their messages, Amne believed she was rekindling her romance with Dermot. Her suspicions were confirmed when she was able to visit her parents, who wished for their twenty-five-year-old daughter to be present for their wedding. Amne keeps photos of her family with her on her assignments. She corrects her fellow soldiers when they mistake Cecily for her girlfriend, although they tend to be confused when she tells them that Cecily is her sister.

Command Sergeant Amne Zailyn is a soldier in the Imperial Army. Born and raised in the Hapes Consortium, Amne became a naturalized Imperial citizen through her honorable military service.

Biography

Early life (Year -12–Year 5)

Amne Thian Zailyn was the daughter of the smuggler Lydia Zailyn. Unbeknownst to Amne, her father is a nobleman, Rohlan Dermot, who had become fascinated by Turila Alys, Lydia's disguise whenever she visited his home to conceal his mother's connection to smugglers. First love (Year 5–Year 10)

During her first year of studying, Amne became friends with Dianthe Tal'e of Phelope. Turil'din Isola Kuat had consented to send Dianthe, her second-born daughter, to university in hopes that she would experiment and then return home ready to be married to Artor, her cousin and the only son of a wealthy Duch'da. Dianthe, however, had no interest in marrying Artor and refused to even acknowledge her betrothal to him. When Amne and Dianthe fell in love, they became idealistic about their future together.[1] Dianthe came to accept her betrothal to Artor, and Amne remained Dianthe's lover even after her marriage. When an expecting Dianthe suddenly died, it was suspected that she'd been poisoned by one of Artor's political enemies. Amne, in mourning, left the Hapes Cluster. No longer sure what to do with her life, Amne decided to make use of her long-ignored skill set and enrolled in the Imperial Academy with the intent of becoming a soldier.

Amne declined invitations to the Imperial Ball, hosted on Year 12 Day 39, from Dante Erinith and Lane Rendell in order to attend with Miriel.[2] Amne ran into Rendell on Bothawui while on leave for her twenty-fifth birthday. They went out for drinks and Amne later invited herself along with Rendell to reclaim his space station from pirates.[3]

Although Lane Rendell initially expressed romantic interest in Amne, they became friends as they worked together to reclaim his space station from pirates. Amne later teasingly expressed her apologies when she learned that Rendell nearly married Thalia Brando.
