Biography
Early Life
- "I know that I know nothing."
- — Tar Coses
Everard de Montfort was born on Year -35, Day 173 in the capital city of Cinnagar on the planet of Empress Teta. He was the only surviving child of Amaury and Eleanor de Montfort, both of whom claimed descent from the famed Empress Teta of the Great Hyperspace War. His mother was a Tetan aristocrat who served on a number of planetary councils before her tragic death as a result of complications endured during childbirth. She was remembered by friends and family as a proud, stubborn woman as well as a great patron of the arts. Everard's father Amaury was also a Tetan aristocrat and the patriarch of House de Montfort. In addition to his duties tending to the family's estates, he also served as a planetary representative to the Galactic Empire. Described by many as a fair and pleasant man, Amaury managed the assets of the family well and managed to increase its holdings and prestige. Like many families of noble rank on Empress Teta, the de Montforts owned a number of carbonite mines from which they extracted carbonite to sell throughout the galaxy.

As an infant, Everard spent much of his time on the family estate on Empress Teta being doted upon by a number of nannies and servants. With the death of his mother in childbirth, Everard's father hired a new nanny every few months to ensure Everard did not develop any maternal bonds with them. Once able to walk and talk, Everard wrecked havoc around the estate with the help of his cousin and accomplice, Simon. The servants used to joke that no wall went untouched by finger paint or ink when the two were together with many vases and flowerbeds sharing a similar fate. One of Everard's earliest recollections happened around the age of five when his father took him into his study and sat Everard upon his leg. It was at this moment that Everard's father taught him the family motto, "A man's worth is no greater than his ambitions."[1] While unable to fully comprehend the meaning of the phrase then, these words would later have a profound effect on Everard in his career and more importantly on himself throughout life.
Everard's father, a successful diplomat and noble of Empress Teta, soon after Everard's birth had concluded a major trade deal. In gratitude, the company rewarded Amaury with an apartment in 500 Republica, a luxurious apartment complex in the Ambassadorial Sector.[2] This eventually became the family's primary residence. It was here rather than the sprawling gardens of the family estate on Empress Teta that Everard spent his earliest years. Playing amongst the other privileged children in the building was where he got his first glimpse of what ambitious men stand to achieve from success, hard work, and dedication.
When Everard was 10, his parents hired Tar Coses, a philosopher and tutor to teach Everard the basics of grammar, philosophy, history and politics.[3] It was during this time that Everard began to gain an interest in politics and in political philosophy. As soon as he was of age he joined the Sub-Adult Group (SAG) of COMPNOR. From there he was able to intern in the local government offices and support the Empire. It was one thing to learn about government and politics from a tutor, but an entirely different experience to learn first hand. From the internship he was able to learn not only how the government was really run, but more importantly how to successfully navigate the extensive bureaucracy to meet his goals and ambitions and fulfill his tasks.
Everard applied for the Raithal branch of the Imperial Academy when he was 18. He was soon after accepted. Before leaving, his friends treated Everard to one last trip together before they parted ways. They went to Spira in the Lytton sector, a beautiful tropical resort world with amazing beaches. It was on a hike through the jungle that Everard would encounter a great threat that would drastically effect his attitudes later on life and more importantly - on himself.
His friends, being the adventurous bunch they were, decided to go off the protected pathway and explore the jungle themselves. Despite the danger it was more beautiful than they could ever imagine. Growing up on Coruscant they were unused to such an abundance of plant life and animals in one place. After a few hours of walking they came across a river. Tired from the days hiking, they dropped their gear and relaxed on the riverside. A few hours passed and most of the group was fast asleep when Everard heard a rustling in the foliage very close to their camp. As he stood up a blistmok poked its head out and looked Everard straight in the eyes. Having read a Spira survival book he knew not to move and to just keep eye contact with the blistmok.
After what felt like an eternity the blistmok screeched something foul then turned and ran back into the deep jungle. It was at that noise his friends woke up and started asking what had happened. Everard, exhausted and somewhat still in shock dropped to his knees and just stared off into the jungle not paying his friends any mind. All Everard could do was think about how close he was to a certain death. It was from this moment on that Everard swore never to be taken unawares and unprepared again. This mindset helped him immensely during his time at the Academy.
Imperial Academy
- "Fealty, Fidelity, and Service"
- — Imperial Academy motto
Everard joined the Raithal branch of the Imperial Academy when he was 18. He was placed under the supervision of then Assistant Dean Skyron Cyneran who would aid guide Everard throughout his time at the Academy. Everard naturally excelled at politics and history having gained a passion for those topics earlier in his life.

He did not however excel in combat training. Much of that subject was brand new to him and he struggled for the first few years. Never one to give up however, he worked hard and with the help of his cadet comrades, he was able to get his combat skills up to par and did relatively well in combat from that moment on. Surprisingly, Everard developed an aptitude for marksmanship and excelled at the rifleman trials.
It was at the close of the final semester and after all exams had been graded that the Assistant Dean summoned Everard to his office to discuss his progress and grades. He announced that Everard had passed his exams and would graduate with Honors. This news was surprising to Everard who had been worrying about whether he passed his combat finals. The Assistant Dean went on to say that a position had been found for Everard in one of the Imperial sectors and that he would be given the rank of Chief Planetary Assistant [E-3] upon graduation. Everard was overjoyed and prepared for his new career in the Regional Government.
Everard wasn't even two days out of the Academy when he received his deployment orders. The orders, which were delivered to him by a first-year Academy cadet, ordered Everard to head to the Eastport starport as soon as it was convenient with all essential belongings. Having received the orders, Everard packed up his belongings and called a service droid to carry them for him as he traveled to the starport. Though it took some time getting through customs and the various security measures, Everard finally managed to find the departing ship he was supposed to board.
Expecting to take a civilian AA-9 Transport, Everard was surprised to find a Lambda Shuttle waiting for him. It would seem that the Moff of the sector in which he was being deployed wished for him to have an expedited journey to his new place of assignment. Having stored his belongings in the cabin prepared for him, Everard spoke to the ship's captain who gave him the second half of his orders. Everard then returned to his quarters and viewed the rest of the orders on the encrypted datapad. He was to administrate and oversee a newly conquered planet still reeling from its recent annexation by the Empire.
One would be lying to say that Everard was not nervous about his first assignment. It was, after all, the first time he had ever had to administrate a city let alone an entire planet – especially one that was recently annexed.
He thought about his new assignment a while longer before falling asleep in his small but comfortable cabin. Little did Everard know that the voyage to the Corporate Sector would be one of great peril for the young academy graduate.
A Turbulent Journey
The sudden drop from hyperspace and shudder of the ship from a high powered laser cannon hitting the deflector shields was enough to wake up Everard from his slumber and realize something was seriously wrong. He immediately rose from the bunk and hastily made his way to the cockpit, using the walls for support as the craft continued shuddering from laser blasts. The captain was giving orders to the pilots as Everard made his way into the cockpit.
Everard receiving the orders to retract the cannons. |
"Captain, what happened?" He asked in his thick Coruscanti accent. The captain, keeping his eyes on the holo-projector which was now streaming tactical information from the engaged Imperial vessels responded curtly, "Flew into a bloody skirmish, sir. Interdiction fields from the gravity well projectors took us out of hyperspace. Imperial flagship is transmitting new orders for us. Make yourself useful and get on the aft turret or those damn fighters will tear us to shreds!" Everard nodded and quickly made his way to the controls for the retractable aft R-T0 twin blaster cannons. He hastily put on the headset and surveyed the scanner for any hostile fighters coming up behind the shuttle.
Only a few moments later the red silhouette of an X-Wing appeared on his scanner. Adrenaline now pumping through his veins he aimed the cannons at the rebel fighter and fired a burst. Two bolts hit and were deflected by the X-Wing's deflector shield. Cursing under his breath Everard aimed again, the X-Wing now in range to fire its own cannons. Everard let out another burst of fire from the cannons and scored a direct hit, the X-Wing exploding into a firey cloud of debris.
The scanner indicated a large explosion within the enemy fleet as Everard breathed a sigh of relief at his kill. The captain's voice came over the comm system to indicate that the enemy interdiction vessel had been destroyed and that Everard should retract the aft cannons to prepare for the jump the hyperspace. Doing as ordered Everard retracted the turrets and returned to the cockpit as the shuttle jumped to hyperspace.
A few days later the shuttle arrived at its destination. Everard was unaware that they had even arrived as the only indication he was given was the moment of turbulence as the shuttle entered the atmosphere and the repulsors kicked into drive. Realizing how close to an end his journey was, he hurriedly packed his belongings and put on his newly tailored uniform. When the shuttle finally landed, Everard nodded to the captain and disembarked the shuttle that had been his home for the last few days. Everard's eyes squinted a little as they adjusted to the bright sunlight. An official that had been waiting for Everard to disembark approached and gave a hurried greeting before ushering the new Academy graduate to the government building where Everard would begin his career and first assignments.
Government Service
After a year or so of conducting various sector duties in the Outer Rim, Everard was approached with a unique opportunity. With the transfer of former governor Skyron Cyneran to the Tapani Sector to take up political office there, the governor's position in the Dromund system was vacant. Not content to remain in the mid-level government positions he had acquired during his time in the sector, Everard moved quickly to secure his place as Cyneran's successor. With the goal of gathering intelligence on the other candidates, Everard hired a private detective by the name of Adelaide Elliar, who he would later marry. With the help of the private detective, Everard was able to maneuver himself to be the leading candidate by discrediting the competition and ensuring he was the best fit for the position..

A few weeks after Moff Cyneran's transfer, Everard was summoned to the capitol building on Dromund Kaas. In a small ceremony attended by few high ranking officials, Everard was officially sworn in as the governor of the Dromund system and received his new rank plaque. With the promotion came new responsibilities as he would not only have to juggle governorship of the expansive Dromund system, home to over a billion citizens, but also perform the duties of acting sector adjutant.
For several years, Everard governed the Dromund system under the watchful gaze of Eric Jackson, Moff of the Corporate sector, which encompassed the Sith Worlds and much of the Corporate sector itself. As governor, Everard oversaw the urban expansion of several worlds, including several gas giants which became home to hundreds of millions of new citizens. Over time, Everard's efforts became noticed by Moff Jackson who began to groom the governor to be his eventual successor.
On Y15 D123, after several years under the watchful gaze of Moff Jackson, Everard was appointed Moff of the Corporate sector. As governor of the sector, Everard oversaw continued development of several planets ranging from major population centers to profit-driven centers of trade. Less than a year later, however, Everard was transferred to the Core where he succeeded High Moff Niven Scherbankov as Moff of the Corellia sector.

Boloball Teams
Dromund Kaas BC
On Year 15 Day 4, Everard concluded negotiations with the League Administration and Board of Directors to acquire the former Andromeda Ants boloball club from manager and owner Soren Cas. The deal, which is rumored to have included political favors and a plastic pink flamingo, has largely been kept confidential for the protection of Imperial assets and owner privacy. Upon purchase of the team it was relocated to Dromund Kaas and renamed Dromund Kaas BC. A month prior to the acquisition, Kaas City hosted the grand opening of Kaas City Field, a 120,000 seat stadium which now serves as the current home stadium of Dromund Kaas BC. The team was eventually sold after three consecutive bad seasons.
Montfort BC
After a year long hiatus from association boloball, Everard negotiated the purchase of the Lettow Rancors (formerly the Thyferran Hammers) near the end of the Season 17. The team was struggling under its previous management and faced relegation to Sub League B. On Year 17, Day 136, Everard assumed ownership and management of the team, renamed it Montfort BC, and led it to a close over CBC Virtus with a final goal in extra time securing its place in Sub League A and avoiding relegation. With an renewed budget, the team began to sign local stars such as forward Filbert McGuinnes and goalkeeper Carl-Bertil Petrén.

The Event Horizon. |
Event Horizon
The Event Horizon is de Montfort's personal flagship. The heavily modified Ardent-class fast frigate boasts a modest armament of 15 turbolasers and 5 heavy lasers, as well as a Class 1 hyperdrive providing the ship with a decent balance of firepower and speed. The interior has been renovated to mirror the Iron Citadel on Empress Teta with a mix of Victorian and Georgian furniture. The corridors however, while slowly being lined with artwork, remain mostly open to maintain an utilitarian style in the event of an attack or emergency. Modifications to the central computer have allowed for a reduced crew complement bringing the total complement to around 200, almost half of which are household personnel.
The docking bay is home to a growing assortment of smaller ships and vessels, including a Delta-class JV-7 escort shuttle, a number of light freighters, and a personal escort squad of TIE/ln fighters. Guests on the vessel are often provided a red carpet ceremony on arrival and will either be greeted personally by de Montfort or escorted by a valet to their quarters.

Body Type: Average
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Gray; clean shaven with short hair

Personality
Everard's personality is a mix between outgoing and reserved. He can be considered a socialite of sorts, enjoying attendance at official functions, parties, conferences and other social events. When not attending events he can usually be found in his office working or frequenting upscale bars, restaurants and museums. Everard is a family man but prefers to keep his family life private but as a high ranking figure in the sector much of his private life is made public through snooping and reporting by the various tabloids and local media - much to his annoyance. He strives towards remaining proper and formal when in public but can be relaxed and casual among friends.
Likes
More than most things Everard enjoys politics and debate. From an early age he has taken an affinity towards the finer points of politics and political intrigue. This interest influenced his decision to join the regional government and participate in the bureaucracy of the government. Everard also enjoys research and study; lecturing at the Imperial Academy; attending official events, museums, concerts, and women.
Dislikes
In his life Everard has experienced and met many things and people that he has grown a dislike and distaste for. He dislikes people with a pretentious attitude, quitting personality, or whiny tone. He also dislikes non-humans, Class C citizens especially thanks to his humanocentric views. In addition, he dislikes dishonorable and untrustworthy individuals or those who violate the law.
Political Views
Xenophobia
Everard maintains the humanocentric viewpoint that humans are genetically and physically superior to all other species. Since his early childhood on Empress Teta, Everard has developed a superior view of humans over the various inferior species of the galaxy and wholeheartedly supports the Empire's Species Policy. He opposes any efforts to promote the equality of species under the law and in Imperial society and frequently attempts to bypass Moff Jackson to pass legislation aimed to limit the rights of Class B and C citizens. His views have led to a frictional (and at times comical) relationship with the diathim Moff Jackson. While he maintains a view of human superiority, Everard acknowledges and respects Class B and C citizens that attempt to better themselves through hard work and dedication to the Empire.[4]
Aristocracy
Everard holds a favorable view of aristocracy and the rights of nobility and royalty. Growing up amongst the nobility of Empress Teta with the belief of being a descendant of Teta, Everard has developed a respect for the ancient custom and believes it to be superior to other forms of government. Learning and witnessing the faults and failures of democracies and republics throughout the galaxy has further strengthened this his views on the subject. Though relinquishing his own titles in compliance with Imperial law DGE-006, he maintains his views on aristocracy and hopes to one day acquire a title within the Empire.
