Biography
Arthur Smith, a native of Anaxes, was born in a modest city situated on the north side of the planet, adjacent to the now-renowned Cherokee Starport, just before the establishment of the Galactic Empire. His familial background was marked by his mother, Ceri, an exiled Hapan noblewoman, and his father, Owain, a retired officer from the Anaxian Merchant Navy, a political leader, and the proprietor of a well-regarded courier company operating across the planetary surface.

As the middle child in the family, Arthur often found himself overshadowed by his older brother, Lancel, a child prodigy and the designated heir to the family's fortune. Arthur, characterised by his inquisitive and reserved nature, lacked the outgoing charisma exhibited by his siblings. Much of his formative years were spent in the company of his grandfather, absorbing the intricacies of the family business. At the age of sixteen, Arthur fulfilled his mandatory tenure as a deckhand in the Anaxian Merchant Navy, an experience that instilled in him a profound appreciation for simple technology and the bonds forged within close-knit teams.
Upon completing his service in the Merchant Navy, Arthur pursued higher education at the local Guild College on Anaxes, focusing on Commerce and Business Administration. Following graduation, he adhered to the customary post-education journey, embarking on travels throughout the Core Worlds with his girlfriend, Iella. During his absence, Arthur discovered that his younger sister had enlisted in the Imperial Army and was undergoing training at the Imperial Academy on nearby Prakith.
Returning to Anaxes, Arthur entered a period of stability, dividing his time between part-time responsibilities in the family business as a bookkeeper and pursuing a career as a professional bolo-ball player. He early on established a family with his now-wife, Iella. Lancel's business success, securing a contract for manufacturing scopes for IM22T4 blasters in late Y19, led to Arthur's transition to assist in managing the burgeoning demand during the War for the Republic.
Tragedy struck Arthur's life during the final days of the conflict when his sister Elin, serving in the security detail for Governor Moon, fell victim to brutal violence at the hands of Zann forces. At the time, Arthur had returned to service with the Anaxian Merchant Navy and sustained injuries during a rebel incursion.
Notably, during his childhood, Arthur was a member of the Sub-Adult Groups of COMPNOR, owing to his father's active involvement in the COMPNOR political party. This early exposure to political dynamics within the Empire likely influenced Arthur's later experiences and perspectives.
Sporting Career
Arthur training at the BC Union Anaxes Academy |
Arthur was a renowned athlete and student at Guild College, where he made a name for himself as a skilled boloball player. He grew up in a family of sports enthusiasts and began playing boloball at a young age. Arthur continued to hone his skills throughout his youth and by the time he entered Guild College, he was already a seasoned player, staring in the annual Navy vs Army game during his time in the Anaxian Merchant Navy the year before.
At Guild College, Arthur quickly became a standout member of the boloball team, impressing both his coaches and teammates with his speed, agility, and precision. He led the team to multiple victories, and his exceptional talent on the field earned him the nickname "The Boloball Wizard."
In addition to his athletic pursuits, Arthur was also a dedicated student, earning top grades in his courses and earning the respect of his professors. His leadership skills, both on and off the field, made him a beloved member of the Guild College community.
After graduation, Arthur went on to briefly pursue a professional career in boloball, playing for the BC Union Anaxes Academy side, although he was unable to break into the League side before the Second Galactic Civil War rapidly escalated in Year 21.
Returning to civilian life following the end of the war, Arthur decided to shift his focus into coaching, as opposed to playing, in order to spend more time working in his brothers business.

BC Union Anaxes is one of the most valuable and widely supported clubs in the Axum system. The club has long standing rivalries with the Axum Anzcats and Urfon United. Under management by Owain Smith, the club changed from an all black home strip to a black with white and red trim strip which has been used ever since.
Arthur Smith inherited stewardship of the club in Year 21, experiencing an influx of investment that has seen the club push for a return to the top tier of the Imperial Boloball.
The club was accepted into the newly formed Imperial Union League in Y24 and took part in the opening closed-invitation 'Season 1' the initial season contained 6 teams from throughout Imperial space. BC Union finished third on the ladder behind Herglic Wailords and the undefeated Vandor Vanguard. Veteran midfielder and team leader Murrough Dunn won the Barro-Garadon Medal for Most Valuable Player for the League.

The AMV Gracitania. |
AMV Gracitania
The AMV Gracitania is Arthur's personal flagship, entrusted to him by the United Anaxes Union. A Pelta-class Frigate thats construction began as a joint venture by the Anaxes Government and Smith & Co Haulage, the vessel was originally intended to be utilised by Anaxes militia for use in emergency situations. Due to a change in local government following rising tensions with the fledgling New Imperial Order the project was placed on an indefinite pause with the new government shifting away from Escort Frigates and towards smaller, auxiliary orientated corvettes with the intention to supplement loyalist Imperial Navy forces.
Following the ascension of King Alexander I to the Hapan throne, the contract for the Pelta was bought out by a business conglomerate who had received generous funding from the Hapan government as part of their diplomatic works to smooth over relations with the Imperials following the breakdown in the Imperial Union. Works soon recommenced to finish the ship, although at a much slower pace than planned.
Ownership of the ship was to be placed under a trust governed by Smith patriarch Owain Smith. Resources gained from the conquests against the rebels during the end of the war saw the construction efforts rapidly increase as all military capable vessels were scrambled to defend the Empire's new borders. It was at this point that young Arthur was appointed captain and de-facto owner of the ship, manned by retired veterans and young recruits the ship did not manage to see any conflict and spent the last few weeks of the war practicing patrol maneuvers.
Since the end of the war the ship has been utilised as a training vessel.
