The Order of the Sith is an ancient organisation of Force practitioners skilled in the ways of the Dark Side and followers of the Sith teachings. It is led by the Dark Lord and his Council, who set the goals and tasks of the Order in accordance with the aims of the Galactic Empire. Since the founding of the Empire, the Order has served the Emperor as an extension of his will and has drawn its recruits from the ranks of the New Order. The Dark Lord holds a seat on the Emperor's Inner Circle as one of his most trusted advisors and the expert on all matters related to the Force.

Structure

Sith Council

Comprised of only the wisest and most powerful Sith Lords, the ruling body of the Order of the Sith is the Sith Council. The Dark Lord of the Sith is responsible for appointments to the Council, a body which always includes the heads of the three divisions of the Sith: the Lord Preceptor, head of the Obsidian Temple; the Lord Guardian, head of the Trayus Institute for Sith Affairs; and the Lord Inquisitor, head of the Inquisitorius. Additionally, the Lord Steward, effectively the second-in-command of the Order, is granted a seat on the Council.

The Dark Lord may at his discretion offer any other member of the Order a seat on the Council. These are typically Sith who have proven their power, ability, and worth to the Dark Lord, and who he trusts and depends upon for advice and counsel. The members of the Council serve as advisors to the Dark Lord and the Emperor of the Galactic Empire on matters concerning the Force and the role of the Order in galactic political and military affairs.

The composition of the Sith Council is as follows:

The Obsidian Temple

The Obsidian Temple sees to the most important aspect aspect of the Order: the testing, activation, and training of all Sith. All new inductees work their way through the Obsidian Temple, on their way to the other divisions of the Order if they so desire. The Temple sees to the allocation of masters and the assignment of apprentices, and is responsible for organizing Force testing for the Empire and her allies, as well as by request of members of the Imperial Union.

The Trayus Institute for Sith Affairs

The Trayus Institute for Sith Affairs, often shortened simply to the Trayus Institute, focuses on the more refined aspects of the Dark Side. Delving into the deeper meanings of the Force, the Trayus Institute encompasses a study of Sith History, and are often the minds behind many of the advancements seen in the Order. The Institute is also responsible for the development of all Sith worlds, balancing the needs of the Order, the Empire, and history. Its members are known as Keepers.

The Inquisitorius

The Inquisitorius is an interesting study in the history of the Order, not having always been the most trusted of divisions and often in open combat with the other intelligence branches of the Empire. Essentially the paramilitary arm of the Order, the Inquisitorius focuses on the more physical host of powers offered by the Dark Side. They are the fist of the Order, and are often on the front lines, participating in, and sometimes leading Imperial military engagements. The Inquisitorius is also responsible for intelligence gathering, working directly with the Ubiqtorate to weed out Force sensitive enemies of the Empire. Its members are known as Inquisitors.
