Biography

Rawther Den was born on Coruscant to Hiro Den and Myra Trane on Y-25 D227 in City 123.

Before Imperial Service

Both his parents were originally contractors with a small fleet of freighters for hire. The specialised in transportation of perishable or potentially dangerous goods.

At the age of 4 his parents got a well-paid contract in the Outer Rim and subsequently moved from assignment to assignment. Rawther lived with them, spending most of his childhood aboard freighters and other ships. While it was not the happiest of childhood, he learnt to pilot freighters early on, helping his father with his assignments. His mother, an adept technician and mechanic, taught him a lot about propulsion and machinery.

At the age of 12 Rawther could already pilot smaller freighters and would take on smaller ship-to-ship transports, as well as routine trips in secure space. While being on what seemed another routine trip, he encountered a hyperspace anomaly. The load his ship was carrying, an unknown substance, reacted strangely with the anomaly and catapulted his ship into a distant region of the galaxy. This incident left him stranded in a remote backwater sector of the galaxy. While trying to get back, he was forced to take care of himself in order to survive. It took him over four years to reach the region of space in which the accident occurred. During all of this time he tried to get in touch with his parents, but to no avail.

Learning it the hard way, he realised that finding someone in the Galaxy is not an easy task. Even though he would still search for his parents, he had to take smaller contracts to get by. Since his parents were nowhere to be found and he could not get any info, he decided to join with a small enterprise called 'Daily Express', a tiny transporting outfit. In the following years he changed his employers more often than his underwear and tried to get assignments near his home-world of Coruscant in the hope to get ahold of his parents.

Shortly after his 18th birthday he joined the Coruscant Merchant fleet and served aboard larger freighters and capitals. His work allowed him to return to the Core Region, where his search would continue. After reaching 22 Rawther would retire from being a freighter pilot and joined a larger corporation in the hope to intensify his search, since through those channels he hoped for better intel. As time passed by, and since info was not easily to come by (or was expensive) he turned his attention to other projects.

It was during this time that he had the chance to study and learn from his Mentor, Sern Ya'ki, a master scientist; crazy, maybe, but a genius of sorts. During his field-trips and when being on vacation he would always try to get back to Coruscant and check for his parents.

After several years of apprenticeship with Ya'ki Rawther finally was a fully flagged researcher. His speciality was development of medical and research facilities. And while joining up with the Coruscant Home Guard as technician he discovered that he possessed a keen sense for tactics and battle. During an assignment as junior security adviser he met an Imperial Recruitment officer who offered him a career in with the Galactic Empire. While already older than the average recruit, Rawther was rather experienced and the Recruitment Officer suggested that the Empire was always in need of skilled pilots, technicians or researchers, and it was this Officer's intercession that allowed Rawther to join the Empire.

While in Imperial Service Rawther was able to access several data-banks and draw upon the vast intel-apparatus the Empire provided. Intel was not clear, but he found out that his parents were still alive, since they have been working for the Empire as sub-contractors not too long ago, their current whereabouts were shrouded in mystery, however. From the data he gathered he found out that his parents were not only alive, but also that he has siblings, several years his junior. Perhaps one day he'll be able to find his long lost family, or at least learn about their fate.

Imperial Service

Shortly after submitting his application, Den was admitted to the Imperial Academy. While being older than the normal applicant and recruit, Den managed to blend in, mostly due to his past experience in the filed.

Den passed most courses as one of the best in his class. Ironically, he almost did not pass classes on Basic Construction and Engineering, considering the fact that he later turned out to be quite a builder and engineer.

Den hoped to join the Imperial Government, and his marks would have qualified him for such a career. Instead, he was transferred to the Imperial Navy, a fateful decision by the 'Powers that Be'. The reason was obvious: the Empire needed skilled pilots more than future clerks.

Being an Imperial Pilot was very different than working for private companies and held many surprises in stock. One of his first assignments was the ominous Tax Planet Scylla, an undertaking of titanic proportions by members of the Imperial Union. It was during this time that he met OVRSR Crow and JPRE Varos OVRSR Crow has been his mentor during this time and taught him all the tricks in the book on building and construction.

Scylla was no ordinary Tax Planet, it was a monumental effort. The Empire, along with the Hapes Consortium and Mandalore worked tirelessly on this project and managed to colonise a gas giant, an endeavour thought impossible by critics. Den's work on Scylla earned him a several commendations and kick-started his career in Engineering.

Den's eagerness to learn and his past experience as a technician and researcher led him directly to the newly created VTF, a state of the art training facility. He developed several modules for this training environment and discovered his creative side during those assignments. Shortly thereafter Den joined the Art Department and the Imperial Geographic in part-time positions. This commitment and his tireless work on various side-projects drew the attention of several high-ranking officers of the Navy. Den rose through the ranks faster than he expected and was soon one of the senior enlisted in his unit. His subsequent promotion to Operations Adjunct and promotion to Flight Officer were the cumulation of his efforts.

His talent in engineering and construction earned him a reputation as master builder. Due to this reputation he was called upon when SECAD Kalrade looked for a recycling foreman on Tarorasuil. While a new field for him, Den managed to grasp the concept of recycling and de-construction quickly. His excellent work did not go unnoticed by the Empire's Chief Engineer, SECAD Kalrade, who invited Den to train future generations of engineers in the newly created School of Engineering. Den's expertise in recycling earned him soon the nickname "Compactor".

His most recent involvement is the Assault Force, a joint elite task force, encompassing members of both the Army and the Navy.

During the restructuring of the Navy Den was appointed CoS for the 7th Imperial Fleet. While doing so, he was also enrolled into the SOCS, well on his way to receive his officer's patent. (Y10D280)

During an assignment Den was subjected to a strange space-anomaly and subsequently injured. During an extensive medical check-up, he was declared unfit for active duty and was sent to a prolonged convalescence period to a military hospital. What seemed like a minor injury turned out to be a heavy exposure to radiation. Den recuperation left him stranded in said medical facility. After a few months of extensive care he returned to active duty (Y11D140).

Shortly after his return to active duty Den picked up his SOCS assignment and was shortly thereafter awarded his officer's patent. As a Lieutenant jg he continued to serve in the Navy as a pilot and advisor to the Command Staff. (Y11D350)

The upcoming restructuring of the entire military force of the Empire, a major overhaul of all structures, led Den to take this opportunity to pursue a different path in his career. Ever since his assignment on Scylla Den established a close relationship with Varos, now a Vizier in His Majesty's service. Varos, always on the lookout for talented Imperials offered Den a job with the Regional Government. In this role Den's abilities as organiser, his skills in R&D and negotiation came soon into fruition earning him the post of Provisional Prefect. (Y12D15)

After a period of prolonged LOA, Den returned to active duty. Again, joining the Regional Government branch of the Empire, now working in the Corellian Sector. (Y15D360)

Service Record

Enlisted into Imperial service (Y9-D180)
Navy pilot
7th Fleet Command Staff
Regional Government (including promotion to Prefect) (Y16D10)

Special Assignments

During his service with the Navy Den participated in several secret missions and covert operations. In preparations to those missions Den received special training and was acting outside the usual scope of operations. During those assignments, which took him across the Galaxy, he worked closely with several high ranking officers and fleet mates.

Personal Info

Due to his upbringing and his experience he possesses many qualities found in other Coruscanti. He is methodical, bordering on the obsessive and takes things very seriously. Order and submission to rules are significant for his actions and direct him in his endeavours. Den approaches all issues presented to him with a logical and distant manner, detaching himself from emotion, when it's not needed. He has a keen sense for detail on the one hand, but can grasp complex situations as a whole on the other. While not being a born leader with a charismatic appearance, he manages to balance this out with a well developed sense for diplomacy. His approach is often creative and out-of-the-box, but not always straight to the point. Even though some consider him the stiff type, Den has a crude sense of humour, but since his humour would collide with his duties, he keeps this part for the time when he's off-duty.

For a man almost in his forties Den has retained a good shape, mostly due to the military training. Since he is a rather sturdy man, with the tendency to match height and width, he has put on a few pounds ever since he started work more from behind a desk than a space ship. Den 'fights' his receding hairline by keeping his head free from those pesky hair. He sports a beard, however, usually fashioned differently every couple of weeks. He is also known for wearing a pair of goggles all the time.
