The galactic sector of Darpa, controlled by the Galactic Empire, is a component sector of the Coruscant Oversector, which is part of the Emerald Region. Prior to the reorganisation of Imperial territory into three regions, the Imperial Sector of Darpa was a component of Regional Government ruled directly by a Moff; during that time, it contained multiple other galactic sectors, including the Barma Sector which contained the system of Carida, the Headquarters for the Imperial Army.

Customs and Traditions
With the majority of its population originating from the Core Worlds, the traditions on Darpa have had to adjust to the cosmopolitan standards of the wider region, as well as to the ideals espoused by the New Order. Many customs and traditions are military-oriented. One ancient custom, now only rarely seen on Ralltiir, requires newly wed couples to consummate their marriage on the hills of Lamia, where an ancient mystical power will ensure happiness throughout the couple's lives. It is thought that this custom originated from a legend that a woman with the ability to alter emotions lived on the hills and would ensure a successful marriage if true love could be shown to her.
However, more modern traditions and customs can also be seen to endure to this day. On Day 24, residents of towns and cities gather to celebrate "Solemnis Diei". Traditionally, this was a day when prisoners were presented to society and given a chance to plead for their freedom. If citizens believed in the innocence of those presented, then they would be granted living quarters and they would be absolved of all sin. This is now celebrated as a day when people can start the new year fresh and look towards the future. It is a public holiday, with most workers taking the day off, and it has become popular for government to delay any pardons they were planning to give throughout the year, instead reserving their announcement for this day.
Day 69 is known as "Diligo Omnis". Developed from the local belief that life begins upon procreation, the holiday has become a day for those in love to celebrate and acknowledge their gratitude to their loved ones. Presents are exchanged and, more often than not, marriages occur on this day.
Day 159 is known as "Imperator Remeo", and is a relatively recent tradition. Following the return of Emperor Vodo to the Imperial Throne, a former Army Commanding Officer and former Governor of Carida, which many residents still associate with the Darpa sector, citizens throughout the sector decided to celebrate the day as a tribute to all Imperial Sovereigns. Past Sovereigns are remembered and the current Emperor's achievements are displayed across the sector in a variety of media.

One historian found documents pre-Essellian Empire that mentioned "Gods of the Sun commanded its subjects to be equals" and it has been established that the day was meant to help the weak and the poor. Now however it has become a day when everyone works to improve their living standards. The custom is dying out, with recent Imperial development resulting in a diminished need for the day. Some have adopted the day as a celebration of life, whilst others just ignore it.
Finally, Day 346 is known as "Memoria". It is a day of mourning and remembrance for those that have sacrificed their lives for the Sector, and the Galactic Empire. A military parade is held at every garrison, with various ceremonies and events occurring throughout the day to ensure the dead are acknowledged for their sacrifice.
It has also become common practice for marriages to occur in military parade squares, with the sector once populated almost entirely by those in the military or with ties to the military. Whilst some marriages occur in different locations, some garrisons have exclusive parade squares for local citizens to get married at. An honorary salute for the couple, typically 11 rifles being fired, is given after the wedding ceremony.
Sports
The most popular sports within the Darpa Sector are Bolo-Ball, Shockball and Podracing, which has only gained traction recently. Boga Minawk hasn't developed a strong following, with many citizens in the sector preferring the highly-publicized leagues.
The primary Bolo-Ball team is Clascvoria Athetic. After several years of sitting in the lowest Bolo-Ball League, the team recently found promotion to Tier 2 of the Imperial Bolo-Ball League system and has a large following of supporters from the system. Many of its players are scouted from the Carida Training Academy, with failed students that have a high athletic ability being recruited directly onto the Bolo-Ball arenas.
Several Shockball teams are also based within the sector, although only two are known throughout the wider Galaxy: the Darpa Destroyers, and the now defunct Bansho Banshees. Both teams have yet to qualify for the Imperial League, instead performing in the inter-sector competitions. The Banshees were formed upon the recent success in capturing Basho; Imperial troops would play mini-Shockball games as reconstruction work continued and local citizens soon adopted the same habit.
Finally, Team Ralltiir represents the sector in the Podracing Leagues. Using the many different terrains on the planet of Ralltiir, the Podracing team has an advantage in training over its competitors. With technicians based upon the planet eager to dabble in the complex and delicate systems in a Podracer, there is no shortage of talent to be used in the designing and maintaining of Team Ralltiir.
Law
The Darpa Sector is part of the Coruscant Oversector, which is in turn part of the Emerald Region. In accordance with the Drayson Act, holds the full authority and power within the sector lies with the Regional Governor and his representatives. Whilst each Region and Oversector have their own sub-laws, the Darpa Sector follows all Imperial Law standards as listed and classified in the Imperial Code of Laws, as maintained by the Imperial High Command and the Imperial Security Bureau.
All crimes and trials of a Summary or Indictable nature are handled by the Regional Government's Judiciary Department, typically with an Imperial Security Bureau Liaison in attendance. The local civilian security organization works only with citizens of the sector, whilst the Imperial Military holds jurisdiction over Military personnel. Both the security force and Imperial Military share jurisdiction over incoming traffic from the nearby trade routes and will often work in unison to ensure the safety of the sector.
Economy
Trade Routes
The Perlemian Trade Route runs through Darpa and has for centuries been vital to the sector's economy. During the times of the Republic, the trade route was littered with various trading stations and production centres as the Regional Government pushed to ensure maximum profits were obtained from the safe hyperlane that cut through the sector. This would continue as the Galactic Empire came to power, although certain parts of the sector were reserved for military use and thus trade traffic was heavily restricted.
Imperial patrols ensure that visitors passing through the trade route remain within their designated area and often use the trade route to catch any unsuspecting smugglers attempting to sneak through the Coruscant Oversector. With the trade route passing through several sectors which do not enjoy the direct protection of His Majesty, and with a high chance of attackers using the secured hyperlane as a means of striking within the sector, the trade route has been closed off from the Mid-Rim sectors.
Production Centers
With the Imperial Expansion Program being released and the reorganization of Imperial Nationalized Factions into the Ministry of Industry, Darpa soon started to see the effects of the new economic development program. Several deals were arranged with the Imperial Mining Corporation to expand their operations within the Sector in preparation for the upcoming construction efforts. Already there are planetary mining operations underway whilst government-driven prospecting operations are underway.
Politics
Currently, the Darpa Sector is part of the Coruscant Oversector. This makes it directly overseen by the Regional Governor of the Emerald Region and his Adjutant for the Oversector. Previously, the Darpa Sector was considered its own Imperial Sector and was directly ruled by its own Moff, appointed by His Majesty.
Darpa has traditionally maintained an isolationist position in Galactic Politics, preferring to instead entrust His Majesty's judgment on foreign relations. Traders using the trade route are required to apply for a Docking Permit if they want to use Starports within Darpa and are heavily monitored whilst within the Sector. It isn't uncommon to see patrol squadrons moving through the sector, providing it and the galactic sectors adjacent to it with critical security surveillance.
