He is usually found in uniform; his smart, authoritative dress and athletically built figure perhaps typifying the public image of young Imperial officers. Mostly quiet and dutiful, the average spectator might come up short if creating a list of the Hapan's character traits due to his tendency to forgo social occasions in favour of focusing on his responsibilities. |

+ | Most of Drenall's known relationships are borne out of Imperial service. Figures such as Commodore Sal Takla, Fleet Admiral James Hudson and Lord Admiral Graeda L`Annan were all mentors to the Hapan during his rapid rise in the Imperial Navy, and it seems likely that his style of leadership was not just influenced by but an amalgamation of such role models. Having benefitted from such a wealth of mentors, Drenall was similarly a key figure to many officers of the Navy, sharing with them his own knowledge and experience, both within the 1st Imperial Fleet and later through his more widely-felt presence as Lord Admiral. In his personal life, Drenall is known to retain contact with a number of former comrades and servicemen and women, and rumoured to have been involved in an extended affair after his transfer to Regional Government. | ||

Kef Drenall is a Hapan male who served in the Imperial Navy and Regional Government. Despite being born into what is traditionally an isolationist culture, Drenall was one of a growing number of young Hapanii to venture beyond their native Cluster in the post-Republic era; departures which local media routinely dismissed as the result of the level of outside intervention the Cluster became subject to. Typically quiet and dutiful, Drenall portrayed a strong sense of honour and a deep-rooted desire for order.
Biography
Early life
From the planet Charubah, a ecumenopolis and prominent industrial centre located amongst the Rifle Worlds of the Hapes Consortium, Kef spent the early years of his life in a fairly typical family existence. A bright child born in an age when the Cluster was becoming increasingly exposed to wider galactic culture and politics, he quickly discovered an interest in the galaxy beyond the Transitory Mists. By the age of fourteen he was already a decent pilot, but a more impressive aptitude for strategy was becoming apparent through his studies of galactic warfare.
Sadly, life at home became strained after his father died suddenly from an apparent heart defect. His mother Dia, whom Kef knew only as a kind and loving parent throughout his childhood, dealt poorly with the emotional turmoil and additional stresses of inheriting the role of main earner, becoming addicted to pills and retreated into herself. When she was consigned to a psychiatric institute, Kef was left to balance earning his own way alongside his duties as guardian to his younger brother, Bravi. As a result, the young man developed a habit for missing social occasions and avoiding anything outside his current responsibilities. Still devoted to their mother, the pair continued to visit Dia regularly - listening to her rants and ravings about how the Lyell’s were a noble family once-upon-a-time - until her body failed as a result of her drug misuse and she succumbed to an early death.
Parentless, the two brothers lived in relatively peaceful cooperation over the following years. While Kef had long been expected to enlist with the Hapan military by his educators, instead he took small jobs in the production of electronics and repairing starships. However, once Bravi graduated the two parted ways; the younger sibling beginning along a path to join the Hapan military, an honourable course much encouraged by his brother.
Kef however, would take a different path. Restless from living in an isolationist society when his interests lay in the wider picture of the galaxy, he finally set out to seek his fortunes beyond the Consortium’s borders. Finding the idea of a galaxy in disarray disquieting, Kef had long since come to embrace much of the ideology of the New Order and found work on a charter to pay his way to the Core Worlds. His time spent navigating the unexplored voids of space was not wasted; allowing him to develop an extensive knowledge of cartography and hone his piloting skills on larger capital ships. Finally he ventured to Coruscant; enlisting in the Imperial Navy upon arrival.

On graduating the Imperial Academy (with honours), Drenall was immediately stationed with the 1st Imperial Fleet. His assignment to the 9th Assault Group would define the early part of his career, and the Coruscant Navy Outpost would become the closest he would have to a home, both in terms of address and his attachment to it, for many years to come.
The Fighting First was under command of Rear Admiral Hudson when Drenall arrived, and he and 9th Group Commanding Officer Sal Takla would have a great impact on Drenall's style of command. Takla introduced Drenall to to the Navy in a series of operations. The pick of the bunch, Operation Snake Pit, largely informed Drenall's concept of training combat readiness and coordination and set him on the path to command, but he also took note of the time management and visibility of both his COs as they led the fleet.
Intensely driven and curious, earning the callsign "Question" from his comrades, Drenall demonstrated a high aptitude for every task put before him and was involved in Operation Varactyl, which supported the Trellen Conflict, but was quickly garnering a reputation from his performances in his unit's expansive training exercises. This led to him representing the First in the Capital Command (CAPCOM) section of the third (and to date, final) Imperial Navy Tournament. He would ultimately triumph, taking the Titan Cup home to the Blue Royale Cantina and featuring on the Navy's Wall of Honour.
When Drenall had closed out his first year's service, he was appointed Fleet Training Officer and had begun assisting in the planning and running of new training scenarios, such as the large-scale build war scenario Operation Icarus with the 1st Imperial Legion. While the officer himself had not yet realised, he had become a genuine, promising prospect for a future command. Takla, now 1st Fleet CO, soon encouraged him to apply for the 9th Group CO position. Despite applying more out of a show of intent than expectation, Drenall shortly found himself in command of the Group.

Not long after he was assigned to command of the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Eternity, Drenall was made Acting Fleet Commanding Officer (for the first time) as Commodore Takla took leave. What felt routine at the time quickly took tragic turn. Sal Takla was betrayed and murdered by a fellow member of the Order of the Sith and Imperial Intelligence agent, Bisk Marlowe, who sold the captured Commodore to the Eidola Pirates.[1] His mentor's death was a shock to the Fighting First and the Empire as a whole; and a personal blow to Drenall. Drenall had the duty to inform the fleet of the news and was joined by Admiral Hudson, who returned to the 1st as Acting Fleet Commanding Officer, in leading the tributes. In subsequent months and years, Drenall would further use of a Sal Takla Memorial Fund to reward the outstanding efforts of officers in the fleet. Drenall continued, and built upon, his predecessor's methods of officer training and operational tasking; planning numerous innovative simulations, patrols, and maintaining the fleet's traditions.

He organised an immediate response to the situation from the 9th Assault Group, soon-to-be known as Operation Sway. Over the course of the month-long mission Imperial Forces would include the 1st Fleet and 1st Brigade of the 1st Legion, as well as personnel from Regional Government and the Army and Navy Command staffs, with Drenall given battlefield command. The Task Force was able to achieve all its objectives and far surpass the limited expectations of Sector and Navy Commands before it reined in its efforts to a policing role against criminal elements while Imperial High Command entered ultimately successful negotiations to secure the world for the Empire peacefully. To top things off, Drenall was first presented with the Group Command Medal [GCM] and then made a Commander by Lord Admiral Varos shortly after the campaign's conclusion.
Serving briefly as Acting FCO once more between the end of Rear Admiral Althalus' time as CO, before the appointment of Admiral Tec Vaan on Year 17 Day 203. Description
A member of the famously handsome Hapan race, Drenall has striking facial features topped by darkening blonde hair and sometimes accompanied by a beard.

Relationships
Most of Drenall's known relationships are borne out of Imperial service.
