Biography
Early Life
Born and raised in the centre of the Corellian system, Vaan's first experience of flying was aboard his father's freighter. It was a stereotypical family business, no dodgy dealings with underworld criminals, nor suppliers of the Imperial Garrison nearby, merely contracting work out to local businesses or individuals. Vaan's father had no dreams of expanding the business further, not wanting to be involved with the pressures and costs of the intergalactic market. There was also a deep down sense of pacifism in the family, after the years of war, they supported neither the Empire nor those who called themselves the Rebellion, and instead focussed on family life.
Tec Vaan did not share this view. Though he had no dreams of travelling the entire galaxy looking for adventure, he simply wanted to get away from the planet that he had spent the first 18 years of his life. When the local garrison began a recruitment drive, he spoke to the Lieutenant in charge about the armed forces of the Galactic Empire. All it took was for the officer to tell him that the only positions available involved moving off planet to get Vaan to sign his name onto the enrolment log. After rushed and somewhat cold goodbyes from his parents, he was aboard a transport to Imperial boot camp.
