The Imperial Archives is a large facility situated on Coruscant. It contains a multitude of corridors and rooms, several of which are public research areas containing info-consoles and archaic documents. The Archives contains several vaults of varying degrees of security. The main vault is perhaps the most heavily guarded room in the Archives. Stormtroopers and other Imperial officials stand guard at the vault 24 hours a day, and it's contents is not publicly listed. Other rooms in the Archives hold scale models of different planets, like Coruscant, Corellia, and Naboo and there is also one room near the centre of the Archives that contains a large star-map. Apart from the public research areas the Archives also contains conference rooms, and private studies for the Imperial Archivists who painstakingly document the Galaxy day and night. Both the Imperial Security Bureau and Imperial Intelligence also operate in the Archives.

Database
The Imperial Archives boasts the largest information database that can be accessed anywhere in the Galaxy; on datapads, holonets and other info-consoles. The database is the premier Galactic source of information on all aspects of the Galaxy. This includes information about the Galaxy at large - such as planetary, spacecraft, technology and species details - as well as personal and psychological information of both Imperial and non-Imperial individuals of the galaxy. Historical events such as wars and battles, political upheavals, poignant social events as well as a record of various galactic cultural endeavours, within such mediums as art, music, theatre and science.

Leadership
The Imperial Archives are managed and maintained, which includes the reviewing, organizing and security of the articles within, whilst making sure they don't violate any protocols and are appropriate for the Galactic Public, by the Director and Principal Librarian of the Imperial Archives under the direct supervision of the Director of Culture, the Vizier for Progress and the Director of Imperial Intelligence.
The Director of the Imperial Archives is the head of the Imperial Archives based on Coruscant. The Director is responsible for the institution's general administration and reported its accounts to the Minister of Culture and/or Vizier of the Coalition for Progress. At the Archive's inception, its most senior member of staff was called 'Principal Librarian'. The job title became 'Director and Principal Librarian' in Year 10 Day 43. On Year 11 Day 93, the position was abolished by the Grand Vizier only to be recreated again on Year 12 Day 86.

Reformation - Year 12
Feldure working on the main Archive database. |
On Y12 D39 Lasidious von Feldure was personally requested by Vizier Vaan to evaluate the Imperial Archives in preparation for a reform that he would head. The Archives had fallen into a minor state of chaos; The database system had not kept up to date to a high enough standard and had, itself, become outdated. Feldure alongside II Director Ventidius went about redesigning the main layout of the Archive database, ripping out the unnecessary elements that had developed over the years and replacing it with a far more concise and appropriate system for the modern Galactic Public.
On first accessing the database Feldure had discovered that a vast majority of Imperial historical events had been left undocumented or worse still had been doctored. Other articles were out of date or missing vital information. He went about correcting this, reprogramming the database's main information category and storage system and removing dysfunctional staff members and hiring new. With the help of various Imperial command members he was also able to recover some documents and holo-recordings that had fallen out of public hands and re-display them within the Archives. Other than documents and other data, artifacts slowly began arriving for display and storage in the Archives. One distinct artifact was the Ser Scott Hampton painting of Emperor Cherokee that hung in the main public research hall for several weeks.

The initial reform was a great success and Feldure was soon appointed Director of the Imperial Archives by the Director of Culture, Gunther Rall under the approval of Grand Vizier Jorus Taidan.
