The 5th Imperial Fleet (also known as the 5IF or just 'The Fifth') is one the newer fleets of the Imperial Navy. Created as a result from the Second Navy Reform, it has been gone through a lot, although not as old as other fleets. Many changes in the fleet occurred since its creation, including the Fleet Commands and members. It was renamed to the Grand 5th Imperial Fleet, then to the Shadow Fleet and renamed back to 5th Imperial Fleet.

Fleet Commanding Officers
Captain Kaine
The 5th started its life in Year 8 Day 282 as a new fleet created by the Second Navy Reform. It was the 1st fleet out the 2 that were created. The second one was the 6th Imperial Fleet. The Fleet was led by Captain Raum "Kaine" Cambions as the Fleet Commanding Officer and Captain Darvock Tarion as the Fleet Executive Officer. All of its members were previously a part of the 4th Imperial Fleet and thus the fleet started as one of the best, as all its members were familiar with SWC, unlike many Fleets which had their members fresh new out of the Academy. The Fleet Chief of Staff was Ensign Execurus Edun at that time. The Fleet begen its operations at first in the Corellian Sector and the Kuat Sector, and one of its first missions were to move key ships of the fleet from the Corellian Sector to the Kuat sector. During that time Captain Darvock Tarion was the overseer of the operation and made an incredible job handling the logistics.
Captain Tarion
A short time afterwards Captain Raum Cambions resigned his position due to RL matters and Captain Darvock Tarion took his place as the CO of the Fleet. The XO was Ensign Execurus Edun while the FCoS was Master Flight Sergeant Nannoth Taeradun.
More operations were issued by Captain Darvock Tarion at that time, most of them are classified but one Operation was noted, the Operation Clean Sweep. The mission was to return to the Capital of the Empire, Coruscant in order to restore the order that was raging in the planet. The Fleet completed the operation successfully with Captain Tarion and Lieutenant JG Edun as the Operation's coordinators. But after a while, due to RL Illness, the Captain had to resign his post as the Commanding Officer of the Fleet, and in his place rose Lieutenant JG Execurus Edun as the Fleet Acting CO. It is said that the 5th had its best time during Captain Tarion's command, and he will be forever missed by the founding members of the Fleet. Master Flight Sergeant Nannoth Taeradun was Acting Fleet XO at that time. The position of the FCoS was out of commission.
Commander Korr and Edun
Lieutenant JG Execurus Edun was in command of the Fleet for some time after Tarion's leave, he handled the fleet in more operations that had consequences on many things. But since as Acting CO Lieutenant JG Edun couldn't do much, after a Navy Address the fleet was assigned with Commander Dujaan Korr as its official CO, and Lieutenant JG Edun as its XO. It is during Commander Korr's times that operation Apple Crumble was issued. The Operation kept the Fleet members active, as they scanned completely the whole Kuat Sector for hidden systems. Weather the fleet had found an hidden system or not, is classified. Soon after that Operation that Commander Korr had to leave the Fleet because of a long LoA he requested from NHC.
Yet again the Fleet found itself without a Commanding Officer, which resulted with the fact there were almost no promotions of members, or awarding of medals. Lieutenant JG Edun was again assigned as the Fleet's Acting CO, but Commodore Assam, whose just returned to active service after a long time in the reserves, was appointed "Admiral of the Fleet" means he will be supervising all the operations of the Fleet and will act as an Overseer. Lieutenant JG Edun was promoted to a full Lieutenant shortly afterwards.
Lieutenant Rann Van was brought to the Fleet from the 4th Imperial Fleet to serve as the new XO of the Fleet to aid Lieutenant Edun with what experience he had. Yet still he had his position as Fleet CO under the supervision of Commodore Assam. The Operation Scare NIO was issued by Lieutenant Edun and Lieutenant Van. The mission was to scan the entire Both system, which is controlled by NIO to check if there are any hidden systems in that Sector. The results are classified. A short time after the Operation, and by recommendation from Lieutenant Edun, Lieutenant Rann Van was promoted to Lieutenant Commander
Commodore Assam
Lieutenant Edun was offered a spot as the new Navy Quartermaster position, and thus left the fleet. It is said during his times the Fleet rose from the despair it was laying on, and it is because of him, that the Fleet managed to return to its former glory. For his services in the 5th Imperial Fleet, Lieutenant Edun was awarded the 5th Imperial Fleet Cross by Commodore Assam. The highest medal of honour a person can get, from a Fleet.
Following the events, Commodore Assam took command of the Fleet, and Lieutenant Commander Van as his XO. Following the departure of many founding members of the 5th, including Nannoth Taeradun and Execurus Edun, Commodore Assam talked to Captain Vulcan in order to bring their best two pilots to the Fleet; Flight Officer Tec Vaan and Command Flight Officer Marcus Veers. Due to a feeling of homesickness, Command Flight Officer Veers did not move to the 5th and returned back to the 1st Imperial Fleet while new Recruits of the Academy were transferred directly into the Fleet upon graduation, causing the Fleet to grow larger.
Commodore Assam, after serving as the 5th's CO, was promoted to Rear Admiral for his actions as Director of the NIA and as Navy Chief of Staff while working at the same time as FCO of the 5th. And following Fleet Admiral Slicer's promotion to the Ministry of Defense and out of the Navy, Rear Admiral Assam took the command of the whole Imperial Navy, and left the 5th with no Commanding Officer, yet again.
Commander Van
Lieutenant Commander Rann Van was promoted to Commander shortly after Rear Admiral Assam's departure, and was assigned as the new FCO of the 5th, he was serving as the FCO for a short period of time in relative to the 5th's other COs. Tec Vaan, previously a Flight Officer was promoted to Command Flight Officer a while back and has then been placed as the Acting XO of the Fleet. Command Flight Officer Jathrin Thoyan, one of the last founding members of the Fleet, was assigned as Acting FCoS until Commander Van hears word of the finished School of Officer and Command Studies. Following the new Command, the 5th have been assigned a new mission by Deputy Minister Kiger Wulf, to aide in the construction of one of the Empire's jewels, Scylla.
Rear Admiral Assam
Rear Admiral Assam's second term wasn't very long. The Admiral was extremely busy with his duties as Navy Commanding Officer and the running of the School of Officer and Command studies, so most fleet tasks were handed down to LTjg Vaan, his XO. LTjg Vaan was and still is today the cadet who graduated with the highest score in SOCS.
In this time, the fleet also experienced the aftermath of the "Brotherhood" crisis. When a handful of Imperials

The School of Officer and Command Studies was finally done and Command Flight Officers Vaan and Thoyan had been elected to study in it and become Officers. After some time, a message was sent through the Fleet that Commander Van have been honourably discharged from the Empire due to unknown reasons, and now Rear Admiral Assam, CO of the Imperial Navy have taken temporary command of the fleet until replacement is found.
