Ensign Patrick "Saint" Martin (IMID: 1080126) is an Imperial Navy Officer and pilot and is the current Chief of Staff of the 3rd Imperial Fleet. He is also a member of the Imperial Gaming Commission specialising in Bolo-Ball tournmanents and betting.

Background

Early Life

Patrick was born in the city of Haporium on the planet Hapes. He was the first and only child to Patrick Snr and Kristina Martin. His parents run a medium sizes production company within the city. Shortly after he was born the business started to become really busy, very profitable. This meant he seen very little of his father as a young child. Spending most of his time with his mother the two grew close. As a child he knew little of the illness his mother suffered from, sadly shortly after his fifth birthday she passed away. He now found himself in the care of his grandparents while his father become more and more caught up in his work, trying to hide his pain from young Patrick. His mothers death caused a crack in the family that would never be closed.

When Patrick was seven years old he was sent to an elite boys school in the city of Chume'Dan's upper east side. Patrick felt alittle out of place, his father could afford the fees but his family was not like the other boys', many were the sons of Generals, Admirals, Ministers or noble familes. He longed for home but he only went home for the summers. The first few weeks were rough, then he met another boy just like him, Mark Coyle. Both were from Haporium and Mark was also just a middle class son. The two soon bonded and were inseparable from then on. They watched each others backs, two middle class kids in an class full of nobles was tough.

Teen Years

In year -2, at the age of thirteen, he transfered to the senior boys school, both schools were on the same ground and same staff. By this time Patrick had established himself well within the school. He knew all the staff, being on first name basis with many of those he knew well. He was involved in many aspects of school life besides his studies. He ran the schools youth charity, youth politics, and most controversially he got permission to setup a youth Imperial support club. The latter caused problems with many of the noble boys and their familes, the idea of Imperials on Hapes didn't sit well with them. He and coyle, for being the lowest socially where soon top of the chain in this school. They maintained near perfect test scores, each specialising in different topic and helping each other. Patrick found he enjoyed math, history and science. Sport was something Patrick was not too fond of, his only and favourite sport Bolo-Ball was not popular at this school. However the school had a young pilots programme for those age sixteen or over, this turned out to be his passion. When he entered the class with an Imperial Navy badge sewn on his jacket his status as the most unpopular boy was confirmed.

Despite his unpopularity with the boys the girls from nearby school found him very attractive. Smart, funny, handosme, Patrick could have had the pick of any girl. However Patrick's major weakness was he was really shy around girls. And despite Mark Coyle's best efforts to change him Patrick never dated during his time at school.

By now he and his father had grown distant, rarely talking and as soon as he was sixteen and eligable for intern work he stopped going home during the summer. These internships were what got him interested in business, particularily the finance side of things. When his father passed away during his final year he didn't leave his studies to go to the funeral instead he sent a holo-message to the family. The death had little affect on him, he finished his tests and graduated top of his class. Patrick's insecurites and worries about being inferior to the others had made him work so hard he had become one of the most memorable students the school had ever had.

College Years

Patrick's high scores gained him entry to the University of Hapes. There he went on to study Finance as his major and Politics as his minor. Patrick was one of the few student that truely loved business, he enjoyed every class and never skipped class for the other aspects of college life. College was also the first time he was away from his best friend Mark Coyle for a long period, growing up like brothers for 11 years this new experience was a scary one. But Patrick just continued here as he had in his school days.

Having no interest in ever running his familes business he spent his first summer back home in Hapourium shutting down the operations and selling up the business. When he was finished and had returned to college he had just over twenty five million Imperial credits in his bank account. The college atmosphere and new found wealth seen Patrick mature alot over these years. He continued to work the summers, even if he didn't need to. The taste of wealth was addictive, Patrick wanted more, alot more. Now a member of the reserve navy forces Patrick was able to build contacts both in the military aswell as business. These contacts gave him many opportunities and soon, through one of them, he bought his most lavish gift for himself, a fully restored Arc-170. The fighter was a relic by modern standards but it's rarity and history meant they were very valuable, it cost him three million credits.

His support for the Empire grew during his college years, unlike his school the college had a Imperial Society already setup. Patrick quickly became a senior member of it. With a former Imperial on the Thrown, the Empire was being seen in a different light on Hapes. It was through this group that Patrick met his first girlfriend and the love of his life, Audrey.

After four years, Patrick graduated with an honours degree at the age of 22. He was now set on joining the Ministry of Finance and having a career in politics.

Wealth and Power

Wealth has come easily to the business smart Hapan. The twenty five million his family left him has now become close to one hundred million in just two short years. This is mainly due to Patrick setting up the financial company Auvasa Corp., along with best friend Mark Coyle, on day 95 of year 9. The goal of the company was to offer investment opportunities and general accounting services to people across the galaxy. The company's first project was done in partnership with the Imperial Outer Rim Authority. However when this project ended early it was decided Auvasa Corp. would stop offering services to the public until the company was better organised and in a position to run its own projects. When the Empire introduced the NAMIS project Patrick seen the opportunity to do what the IORA investment could only dream off. Auvasa Corp began raising money from clients friendly to the Empire and soon became the single largest sharesholder in the fund.

His power and influence outside the Empire has also grown. For a brief period Patrick was the ruler of the planet Douglas VI in the Centrality sector, having paid the small settlement that was there to leave. During the preparations for supplies, men and equipment to arrive at Douglas VI the Douglas system quickly began changing hands to a new government, the NAO. Patrick knew he had neither the wealth nor the security forces to keep it out of NAO hands. His reign as King of Douglas VI lasted only two months when he eventually handed power over to the CIS. Another suitable planet has yet to be found that satisfies Patrick's quest for power.

Financial Supporter

Using his own personal wealth and the money raised through his company, Auvasa Corp., Patrick has been in a good position to help the Empire expand. When the Imperial Outer Rim Authority was expanding into the Elrood sector, Patrick raised a large credit fund to help pay for the construction of cities across the planet Dega. This investment was paid back to Patrick along with a sizable profit. On day 124 of year 9 to honour his support for the expansion and stabilizing of this sector a statue of Patrick Martin was unveiled in the city of Dega along with others to those that also helped. Unfortunately the IORA has since gone rogue casting a dark shadow over the good work done by Patrick and others like him for the people of Dega.

Patrick continues to use his personal wealth to help expand the Empire and currently has one of the largest shareholdings in the NAMIS operation, while also heading a consortium of investors keen to see this project succeed where many have failed.

Imperial Gaming Commission

On Year 9 Day 113, the Imperial Ministry of Operations announced the creation of the Imperial Gaming Commission. Deputy Minister and Sith Lord Kiger Wulf was announced as the Director with Major Bacara Kex working as the Deputy Director.

Patrick joined the Imperial Gaming Commission and soon began work on various different Bolo-Ball projects. The first was a small Imperial member only league. This had relatively good success. Numerous leagues of a similar nature have been held since. The idea of a multi government tournament between Imperial Union states was put forward by Patrick to the rulers of each state and while it was backed by them some found it hard to build teams and the idea was eventually shelved.
