The 3rd Imperial Legion is an Imperial Army unit that was created during the Army restructure of Year 8. The unit quickly established itself as a key unit of the Emperor's Army, having overcome turbulent trials, and has since served the Empire with great skill and dedication. 3IL is under the direct command of Lieutenant Colonel Nathaniel Durane.

Name and Motto

The name of the 3rd Imperial Legion used to be the Shadow Guards before Legion nicknames were transferred to the Brigade level. The Legion prides itself in its proficiency in covert operations, and this is reflected in their old Legionary motto: 'Fear what lurks in the Shadows'. With the transfer of the name 'Shadow Guards' to 3BDE, the Legion's assault brigade, the Legionary motto was also transferred to the unit as well.

3rd Imperial Legionnaires specialize in doing quietly what the other Legions do with gusto, that is: preserve Imperial law and order, while destroying the enemy's will to fight the Empire. Their modus operandi more than often makes them the unsung heroes of the Imperial Army, but they are appreciated for their excellent record of service to the New Order nonetheless.

3BDE is currently under the command of BCO 2nd Lieutenant Tyler Smyth, and his BXO has yet to be announced.

6th Brigade, the Pathfinders

6BDE is currently under the command of BCO 1st Lieutenant Edward Canfield, and his BXO has yet to be announced.

The 6th Reconnaissance Brigade, also known as 'the Pathfinders', are a subunit of the 3rd Imperial Legion, created from the reorganization of the Legions that occured in Year 12. The Brigade proudly bears a new name, not shared by its predecessor, as is the case with its sister Brigade, 3BDE. Being a new unit of the Imperial Army, the 6th Brigade has a relatively short history, but, under its current leadership, its future in service to His Majesty looks bright.
