Biography

Early life, education, and military service

Amne spent her early years onboard her mother's smuggling ship, the Bën Riore, although she was left with trusted friends before the crew embarked on a particularly dangerous assignment. Amne considered the crew to be part of her extended family, and she was in many ways a daughter to them all. Amne was taught how to watch and listen, move quickly and quietly, defend herself armed or unarmed, pilot and fix ships, and both slice into and protect important files. However, Amne was scholarly by nature and not much interested in pursuing her mother's line of work. Jeric, the elderly cook on the Bën Riore, used to slip her sweets as he told her fantastic bedtime stories of politics and intrigue. These stories later informed her interest in her namesake, Thian Tini'duran, who was one of the most beloved Queen Mothers in Hapan history. The Queen Mother's decisions to treat her consort as her equal and to establish the feudal nobility system in order to link proper governance with family status and honor influenced many of Amne's early views on politics. Amne attended a distinguished university on Hapes in hopes of becoming part of the Civil Service, much to her mother's distaste.

Upon graduating from university, Amne enlisted in the Royal Hapan Navy to complete her six months of required military service. She received basic training, and she was able to utilize her smuggling skills in creative ways. She was sent on a lengthy assignment to Deep Core to assist the newly-merged Galactic Empire. Here, she became friends with the fighter pilots and non-commissioned officers of the Imperial Navy, such as Ninian DeLayn and Alexander Kuhn. She was discharged upon returning to the Hapes Cluster, and she received a reserve military rank of crewman. Afterwards, Amne accepted a position in Phelope, a system containing the eponymous planet Phelope. She had a secret affair with the married Duch'da of Phelope, Dianthe Tal'e, that lasted for several months.

Becoming an Imperial

Amne settled on Corellia for some time, taken in by the Davrins at the request of her parents. She used her personal ship, the Lviahen Lorellon, to travel. She decided to enroll in the Imperial Academy, and she kept in touch with the Davrins and her parents throughout her time there. Amne threw herself into her studies at the Academy, much as she had done in university. Her training officer was Major Califf D`Troit, the Army Adjutant who was known for returning the First Imperial Legion to the glory it experienced before the betrayal of Inara Imperium and subsequent defection of many Immortals. Amne became friends with Nalani Connell, a graduating half-Zeltron student who was determined to prove herself worthy of Imperial service, and other students in the Academy. Amne graduated near the top of her class in Year 11 at the rank of Corporal and, when deployed as a Master Sergeant, she was eagerly welcomed to the Immortals under the command of D`Troit, who was by then a Lieutenant Colonel, with 1st Lieutenant Elvira Falston as his Executive Officer and 2nd Lieutenant Dragomir Kies as the Legion Adjutant. She served alongside Santiano Salazar, Felix Stones, Dante Erinith, Kol Seraph, Tamarynn Farr, and Igneus Esh. Several rumors were started to explain her promotion to Master Sergeant—among them being that she'd burned down an orphanage housing Jedi younglings[1]—but they eventually faded into obscurity. She was quickly sent to the Coruscant Oversector for a combat patrol mission, codenamed Operation Blitz, and was assigned to Squad Leader Felix Stones. Her squad, the Sabres, scouted several planets for signs of rebel bases or hostile armies. The Sabres arrested a number of hostiles that had established hidden bases throughout the system and retook some occupied Imperial buildings. The Immortals took it upon themselves to map their assigned sectors, marking potential microjump points and updating the political maps of the planets. They were commended with special recognition upon the conclusion of Operation Blitz, after the inspection of 4 systems with 30 planets in total.

"I presume ignorance, inexperience and trigger nerves blend about as well as Wookiees and baths. With Amne's reflexes that poor thing never had a chance."
Graeda L'Annan[2]

Amne was permitted a brief sabbatical, and she spent the weekend on Corellia with Ben Davrin. Afterward, instead of being ordered back to the Army base, Amne was sent to a mission briefing in Coronet. Chief Daelis Stanov of Imperial Intelligence was to pose as a wealthy businessman offering to sell Imperial supplies to Dax Goreline, a warlord of Garos; Amne, Captain Euna Miriel, Crewman Lilith Sarka and computer specialist Thalia Brando were tasked to be his entourage. Amne and Euna were assigned to protect Brando as she extracted data from Goreline's casino's mainframe computer. Amne was surprised that she had been chosen for an Intelligence mission, given that she hadn't been an Imperial citizen for long. Onboard the Mendoza, Crewman Sarka foolishly pulled a blaster on Lord General Graeda L'Annan, not recognizing the Army Commanding Officer and believing her to be a threat. Amne swiftly disarmed Sarka and knocked her unconscious. Amne blushed "like a star-struck schoolgirl" when L'Annan commended her quick actions as she idolized the Lord General. As per orders, Amne arranged for guards to detain Sarka before returning her to her fleet, although Amne thought that Sarka should have been courtmartialed for her actions.[2]

"This is the Spirit of The Immortals - that no matter what Catastrophies strike us, we will stubbornly rise from the ashes and flap our wings, unleashing our fearless spirit against the enemies of the Empire with the power of the Phoenix!"
Dragomir Kies

Upon returning to the Immortals, Amne learned that there had been many changes in her absence. 1st Lieutenant Falston had accepted a position with Imperial Intelligence and Lieutenant Colonel D`Troit had been moved to the Reserves upon being stricken with a grave illness, so 2nd Lieutenant Kies was appointed Legion Commanding Officer with 2nd Lieutenant Morcha Drayson as his Executive Officer. With the Army Restructure of Y12, Amne was placed under the command of 2nd Lieutenant Akai Ai of the newly formed 1st Brigade (also referred to as the Immortals) with 2nd Lieutenant Dante Erinith as his executive officer and 1st Lieutenant Drayson as the Legion Commanding Officer.

Amne ran into Rendell on Bothawui while on leave for her twenty-fifth birthday. They went out for drinks and Amne later invited herself along with Rendell to reclaim his space station from pirates.[3] After hearing Lilith Sarka say that non-humans were not sapient and that "an alien who can fly a ship or shoot a blaster is like a dog you've taught to open the fridge," Amne mused that one of the greatest nights she'd ever had was with a Bothan who "certainly didn't need to be taught any tricks." Rumors ran rampant throughout the barracks, much to Amne's amusement. Much later, she revealed in confidence to Zhaff Orikan and Kalisa Danao that it hadn't happened to her, but to a friend.

Amne was appointed to the position of Executive Officer of the 5th Brigade in Year 13. Her departure from the Immortals was bittersweet, but she was seamlessly integrated into the Inferno under the leadership of First Lieutenant Deryk Ysenm and Colonel David Terrio.

Personality

As a child, Amne was enthralled by Hapani songs and stories of romance and adventure. The tales were more gritty than most stories for children, filled with intrigue and violence as they were. She developed the belief that gods who receive homage must be cruel so that their worshipers can find the beauty between the shadow of tragedy and the light of joy. Amne still keeps Hapani literature and music on her personal datapad. Amne never cared to stop defaulting to the use of feminine pronouns, even when speaking in Basic. She slowly broke herself of the habit of using Hapani years when referring to past events, such as giving her birth year as '14. Her wardrobe is heavily influenced by Hapani fashion. It is frequently remarked that she is friendly to strangers and takes a diplomatic approach to problem-solving. She has many friends but confides in few, although her emotions are often readily apparent. Amne had always associated and been associated with fire on account of her hair. She found it fitting that the units she served in were steeped in fiery symbolism: the Immortals' perpetually rekindling phoenix and the pure conflagration of the Inferno.

Relationships

Friends

Nalani Connell - Nalani was the daughter of a pleasure-slave who had been emancipated by Imperial law, and she held little regard for the corrupted Galactic Republic of old. She had cultivated a frosty demeanor to remain focused on her duties and ward off any students who expected her to be as sexually available as Zeltrons were reputed to be. Nalani particularly avoided flyboys who were headed for the Navy, and her experiences, along with Amne's mentorship with Major D`Troit, influenced Amne's decision to enter the Army.

Lane Rendell - Lane initially expressed romantic interest in Amne, which she did not return, but they became friends on her twenty-fifth birthday as they worked together to reclaim his space station from pirates.[3] Amne later teasingly expressed her apologies when she learned that Rendell nearly married Thalia Brando, with whom she was familiar due to her undercover assignment in Garos.[2]

Ninian DeLayn - Amne and Ninian met as unlikely allies when Amne's Hapan fleet was temporarily assigned to Deep Core to assist the Imperial Navy. The Hapan women stood in stark contrast during their first meeting. Ninian had been adopted and raised by Corellians and knew nothing of her native culture. Amne was inclined to look upon Imperials with distaste due to their misogynistic culture, viewed as ludicrous in the Hapes Cluster. They became friends although they did not meet again until years later, when Amne was a senior enlisted member of the Imperial Army and Ninian was a commanding officer in the Navy.

Family

Lydia Zailyn - Amne's mother was born Allana in 3990 (Year -36), the only child of Turila Maghali and her consort. House Maghali was an old and well-regarded house sworn first to House Shaa, then to the various Tarii houses that claimed the Dreema System during the Hapan Civil War. The Maghalis supported Lana Da'tanah in her bid for the throne, but they could not make any meaningful contributions to the Draconian Union. Allana's childhood was consumed by the war, and she lost her parents along with her inheritance by the age of nine. Fearing for her life, her stewards had her smuggled out of her castle.

They'd hoped to send her to safety, but their plans fell apart. She was taken in by a kindly mercenary who, unbeknownst to her, had recognized the girl who now called herself Danalis. He trained her and other war orphans to pickpocket and use her youthful appearance to get handouts. She was clever and often successful so Jeric further trained her to carry out more complicated con games. As she grew older, they came to care for each other as father and daughter. She became a talented actress, able to slip into the role of a noblewoman or starving peasant as needed, and a steady shot under Jeric's tutelage. She came to think of herself as Lydia Zailyn, and eventually became part of a smuggling crew. She gained the possession of her ship, the Bën Riore, and her own crew by the time she was in her mid-twenties.

Amne believes that her mother was born Lydia Zailyn and knows nothing about her past.

Dianthe Tal'e, Duch'da of Phelope

Romance

Dianthe Tal'e - Dianthe Tal'e, born in 4012 (Year -13), was the eldest daughter of Seth Tal'e and his second wife Isola Kuat and the heiress to Phelope. Seth didn't want his son from his first marriage, Artor Tal'e, to be disinherited (as, before Dianthe's birth, Artor's wife would have become the new Ducha of Phelope), so he arranged for his eldest children to be betrothed from early childhood. Dianthe and Artor were married in 4030 (Year 5) and had a daughter, Sidonie, a year later. Dianthe and Artor kept up the appearance of being a dutiful married couple while having their private love affairs.

Ben Davrin - Amne and Ben met twice as children when their parents were visited each other but they really got to know each other when Amne stayed at his parents' mansion on Corellia for an extended amount of time after leaving the Hapes Cluster. Amne attended the Jenruasi with Ben, and they became romantically—but not exclusively—involved.[4] As Amne was entering the military and Ben was frequently traveling for his work as a private detective, neither of them were willing to commit to a relationship. Still, Amne spent her military leave with him, or else visiting his parents, until she started dating Euna.

Euna Miriel - After they were assigned to work together for a covert Imperial Intelligence mission, Amne's friendship with Euna blossomed into a full-fledged romance. Amne declined invitations to the Imperial Ball, hosted on Year 12 Day 39, from Dante Erinith and Lane Rendell in order to attend with Euna.[1] During the second half of Year 13, Amne accepted Danao's invitation to a small gathering at Orikan's home on the Corellian lake Chirq Eharl. When Kalisa later asked Amne to dance, revealing her romantic intentions, Amne gently informed her that she was in love with Euna, then her girlfriend of nearly two years. Kalisa drank rather heavily out of embarrassment of her rejected advances, but resolved to continue wooing Amne.[1] Amne became uncomfortable with the single-minded pursuit and eventually ended the friendship. Not long afterward, Amne moved in with Euna on her C-3, the Scheherezade. They make sure to schedule time together into their busy schedules.
