Biography
Members of the Hapan nobility who had been part of the Draconian Union fled the Phoenix Revolution and its aftermath, took refuge in sympathetic sectors—notably Kuat, Corellia and Tapani—and set up exile courts often led by surviving claimants to the Hapan throne. The exiles never posed a serious military threat to the reformed Hapes Consortium, but they were accepted by and often married into the local noble houses. Despite the Hapes Consortium's abolition of the legal recognition of hereditary titles of nobility after the Phoenix Revolution, Amne's parents continued to style themselves as the Ducha and Duchix of Andalia. Amne—titled the Duch'da of Andalia—was born in Year -12 in their Kuati estate.
Amne, on Procopia |
Amne spent her early years on Kuat. She often traveled with her parents, whether they were part of the royal court or visiting relatives in other sectors. Betrothed to her paternal cousin, five-year-old Amne was sent to Procopia to spend the next sixteen years at the Tapani court. She was meticulously educated by teachers who believed that learning should be engaging, and she enjoyed access to the family's extensive library. At the age of fifteen, Amne married Lord Gared Carignan. Their marriage lasted for six years until his untimely death in Year 9. While she was in mourning, she returned to her parents' estate on Kuat.
She found herself attracted to the ideals espoused by the Imperial ambassadors to Kuat, and Amne enlisted in the Imperial Army. Amne was promoted to Master Sergeant upon her completion of basic training at the Imperial Academy. She was assigned to the First Imperial Legion under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Califf D`Troit, who was known for returning the legion to glory after the betrayal of Inara Imperium and subsequent defection of many Immortals. Amne received a warm welcome from First Lieutenant Falston and Second Lieutenant Kies, the legion's executive officer and adjutant respectively, and quickly got to know her fellow legionnaires, including Santiano Salazar, Felix Stones, Dante Erinith, Kol Seraph, Tamarynn Farr, Igneus Esh, and Redme Schwarz. Several rumors were spread to explain her promotion to Master Sergeant—among them being that she'd burned down an orphanage housing Jedi younglings[1]—but they eventually faded into obscurity.
Her squad, the Sabres, was sent to the Coruscant Oversector to scout for any signs of rebel bases or hostile armies. The Sabres found and captured a number of hostiles that had established hidden bases throughout the system and retook some occupied Imperial buildings. The Immortals took it upon themselves to map their assigned sectors, marking potential microjump points and updating the political maps of the planets. They were commended with special recognition upon the conclusion of Operation Blitz, after the inspection of 4 systems with 30 planets in total. After completing her first tour of duty, she entered the Army Reserves.
- "Wouldn't your cover be more secure if you had an escort of men? It'd play into the Rim system stereotype that the culture of the Galactic Core is decadent, given to engaging in unnatural activities for the sake of fashion."
- — Euna Miriel to Daelis Stanov after learning of the nature of their assignment[2]
Amne was assigned to pose as an escort for Stanov, an II agent undercover as a wealthy businessman offering to sell Imperial supplies to a warlord of Garos, and tasked (along with Euna Miriel) to protect computer specialist Thalia Brando as she covertly extracted data from the warlord's mainframe computer.
- "This is the Spirit of The Immortals - that no matter what Catastrophies strike us, we will stubbornly rise from the ashes and flap our wings, unleashing our fearless spirit against the enemies of the Empire with the power of the Phoenix!"
- — Dragomir Kies
Pursuant to DGE-006, put into effect on Y13D101, Amne relinquished the use of her titles when she returned to active service with the 1st Brigade. She quietly served under the command of Second Lieutenant Akai Ai until she was offered a command position with the 5th Brigade. Accepting, she traveled from the Coruscant Oversector to her new brigade headquarters in the Corporate Sector. Amne was seamlessly integrated into her new unit and worked closely with First Lieutenant Deryk Ysenm as his executive officer. Amne had always associated and been associated with fire, so she found it fitting that the two units were steeped in fiery symbolism: the Immortals' perpetually rekindling phoenix and the pure conflagration of the Inferno.
Mere weeks after Amne was commissioned as an officer, Captain Ysenm retired from military service. With a heavy heart, Amne succeeded him as the commanding officer of the 5th Brigade. Colonel Wyatt Gabriel became her executive officer in the early days of Year 14. When General David Terrio promoted her to Captain some months later, he said that Amne was a capable and ambitious commander whose lasting contributions to the 2nd Legion could not be tidily summarized.[3]
